That's apparently the case for Nvidia's '60'-class GPUs according to some infograph thingy I saw posted on a review of that GPU...

 

But still, I was expecting more for the 960. Yes it did beat out the 760 according to benchmarks I've seen despite the supposed spec-deficiencies (like the 128-bit bus), but not in a bombastic way like how the 970 beat out the 770 by like double the performance of the latter, and the 960 and 760 just only like puny 10-20FPS increases from the latter... -_-
