Yeah, she had a bunch of before-school study sessions, and she would always make a coffee cake for them... I guess she remembered how much I loved them

I remember, I think it was my 16th birthday, it's midnight and we were just on the ferry from England to France, back from our schooltrip to England.

And I go to buy myself a coffee in the cafeteria and I get hold up by my teachers and they sing me happy birthday in the middle of the room and gave me a cupcake xD

School trip back from WWI battlefield tour, ferry held off of Dover due to weather, I remember only 3 of us not being ill and playing cards and eating cream cakes.

I even wrote a short story about that day, although it detailed something else that happened on that day.

Stupid thing is I like the smell of coffee.

When I worked in a friend's computer shop, nearby was a small independent coffee roaster, the smell was lovely.

The vanilla lattes that my wife drinks also smell lovely.

But it's only with coffee cake that the taste lives up to the odour :/

I also remember that day, I had quite a lot of money over, but didn't really want to spend it on silly souvenirs etc.
So we go into town shopping a bit, and we bought some proviant for the travel back home (24+ hours in a bus, that's hell!)
And as we walk back to the beach, we pass by this homeless guy and his dog, and we all just walk past him like he's not there, but then I halted, turned around and gave him all the change I had left over. My friends were pretty baffled... but yeah, I just couldn't do that, walk past this guy with the food I had just bought and money over I couldn't even spend in my country...
