I kinda want to get back into mtg :T

I had a pretty good zombie deck that focused a lot on spawning tokens. I can't remember the name of the card, but it got +2/+2 for each zombie you controlled. Which was pretty awesome when I could get it to fire off 20 zombie tokens. 

Unfortunately for me, all the guys I played with in college reworked their decks around it and I was running out of money to buy cards.

That was about when I quit playing to focusing on getting my degree within 4 years

I would have reciprocated their changes. After all, it's changing your playing style that causes you to think critically and get better at the game. I just hit a financial wall. In college, everybody is broke. I happened to be more broke than everybody else so I only bought boosters when I could spare a few bucks. I might build a few decks. My brother and his friends still play so I might have to see if I can hit him up some time.

Omg. So my deck in college was (surprise) primarily black. 

It was also about 70 cards.

We took to calling it my big black library. Because college toilet humour.

I'd like to see this work. 

So, mean thing to do to someone you know using Windows. Open Command Prompt on their computer while they're away and enter 

shutdown.exe /h /t xxxx

Where xxxx is the number of seconds you want it to happen in, i.e. If you want it to happen in 10 minutes it's /t 600. This is actually the nice way to do it since it's hibernating. 

You could do 

shutdown.exe /s /f /t xxxx

Which will close all applications without letting the user know and shut the whole thing down. They'll still get save prompts, but they can't abort the shutdown, just delay it.

2-0 again. Maybe I shouldn't run this again. Admittedly, I was gifted the win by attacking for two with opponent on 2 life and maybe because it was tapped, they forgot the Brindle Boar Sac: gain 4 life ability. It wasn't until he was picking up the cards that he remembered. I think (subject to his draw) I would have won next turn if necessary. Hey, it's a game, sometimes we win, sometimes we lose, sometimes we forget stuff that our cards do and just as easily forget what an opponent's do.

I've never seen anyone try the BoW alternate win.

I think a local shop had an alternate win condition event, but don't remember any talk of the BoW.

Yeah @The Candlekeeper it's swings and roundabouts, last time I played Old School, I thought I had the win.

Opponent on two life, I have Underworld Dreams and two Howling Mines in play, I pass the turn. 

He pauses "judge ...is each draw a separate action" 

'yes'

"So I can respond to the draw"

'yes'

He draws first card, takes one damage.

He draws second card, "damage on the stack, in response I cast Lightning Bolt (that he just drew)"

I was on three life :/ Dammit, but good play

That is a pretty amazing occurrence, though I'd be miffed for a little while  
My best story of bieng oh-so-close is less dramatic. Iirc it was in Amonkhet draft, the opponent had a slight board advantage and would swing for the win next turn. However, I could deal just enough if I cast a spell I had that would deal damage to the face, then embalm my Honored Hydra in my graveyard, haste it with Cartouche of Zeal, and swing for the win. But after I cast the direct damage spell, I realized in my haste, I had tapped my only source of green mana while casting it. Certainly not gonna make that mistake again >_<

He thinks I'm going to wipe Dawn out with firsts strike.

He casts

'err, you do realise that says "attacking creatures" ?'

"Arse"

I wipe out his creatures with first strike and there's enough in the +1/+0 to kill him, it's only a game

Nah, I'm not so sure. I know how easy it is to make simple mistakes even if you think you'll catch them.  

Ouch, I can definitely sympathesize with that. xP Far too easy to skim over most of a card.  Like when I tried to kill an opponent's creature with Sunscorched Desert.
