I love how Nuclear Throne has you playing as the mutants instead of humans for the most part. Minus one exception.

Sounds like the crappy AVP game they made a few years ago, where you could play as either human, alien, or the predator.

 I don't know exactly what's going on in-game. Not too much info on it. The only thing known about their goal is that they all want to reach "The Nuclear Throne" for some reason or another.
