Part One - A Luxurious Proposal

"Congratulations to you!"

That was how it all started. That's the beginning of the end. The countdown to the finish. The embossed letters look innocent but they're always out to get you.

"Your entry to the luxury month-long all expenses paid trip to the train Entropy has been accepted!"

Do you know how often trains go off the track? Neither do they.

"Not only will this fabulous opportunity place you in the life of the rich and famous-"

Because let's face it, you aren't smart enough to be-

"-but you will have the chance to meet the fabulous owner herself! The singer!"

Only one because of her mother.

"The actress!"

She started in a terrible daytime soap.

"The model!"

That was the only thing she was good at. Let's face it, she was hot.

"Yes, you have the chance to meet her-Fair Entropy-yourself!"

Confetti would be appropriate if it weren't so tacky. You were a high-class citizen now, mind.

"The details of your departure are enclosed in the envelope! Please read them carefully"

Exclamation points were starting to make your head hurt.

"Bring your sharpest pencils and your tallest thinking caps too-we have an extra special surprise!"

If it didn't appear to be gold plated you would have thrown the letter out. You wonder how much it could fetch.

"We will see you at the station in one weeks time!"

Was it over?

"Sincerely, the crew of the Entropy!"

It was before it started.

3, 2, 1.

Liftoff.

Catchkey was almost tempted to not go. He leaned back in the chair and stared listlessly at the ceiling with it's tiresome whitewash. His small shop was open but there hadn't been any customers than a pushy old mare that morning who had demanded her key be replaced. (He hadn't even made that key but she had a big handbag and he had eyed it with some terror.)

He had no assistant, no one to go to to run the shop. It would be shut for a month. It was no problem keeping it shut - working in the security business paid off in some manners - but he would lose a month of business.

It wasn't even his fault that he had applied - his sister-in-law had given it to him and he was only vaguely aware that she had entered him in something (he had never particularly cared for Boros' wife), but assumed it was for money or something on that vein. Even his family sensed his financial struggles, though Catch had a bit of a nose for money and scraped by.

However, he did need a break from work for a while. It was hard work, lockmaking, but he knew that he was stellar at it, despite having no arrogance for his prominent ability. What drove customers away was rather his race; batwings had the unfortunate connection the night princess.

The surprise intrigued him, though he had no interest in Fair Entropy besides her (admittedly) good looks - she was a rich twit and he had no time for celebrities. He stared at the paper, feeling the weight of the gold letters in his hand, and closed his eyes, breathing out gently. He would be handsome if it weren't for his race and the triple scars on his cheek.

He had decided, though. It was time that he took a vacation. He opened his eyes again, catching sight of their gold slits in the mirror. Done, just like that. Catchkey stood and brushed himself off determinedly. He had work to do.

---

Loveless giggled as she waved goodbye to her latest customer, an old but wealthy stallion, and turned triumphantly to her fellow escorts, eyes blazing in triumph. The others stared sullenly back. There was no question that the beautiful unicorn in front of them was the most popular - even the female customers often deserted the males to be with her.

Gauzy gown unruffled, Loveless demurely approached her employer, who was perhaps once beautiful herself but had given up her profession to run the joint, and collected her first tip of the day, as well as her letter. None of the others usually got mail besides Hero, who was their prettiest boy, but Loveless had so many admirers that she opened a few a day - marriage proposals, many, but even the offer of wealth could not sway her, not yet. Loveless wanted no mere diplomat - she wanted absolute power. She wanted the prince.

Opening the letter her delicate pink eyes widened and she swooned gracefully, catching the eyes of a few hopefuls and causing their own escorts to scowl. Those not engaged rushed over to her, hoping to hear the news. She, still in her false faint, waved the letter with her magic, and tried to hid the crow of laughter that bubbled out of her.

Everyone else fell silent, reading, and after they were done stared at her, then at their mistress, who read it herself. She glanced up at Loveless she was done in a grouchy manner.

"No breaks!" she muttered sharply, though Loveless knew this was merely because she was their best. She batted her eyes sadly, tears welling up, and she softly pleaded her most demure voice, "oh, but Maaadam, it's all I ever wanted! Please, oh, be merciful! I shall work harder than ever before, I swear it!"

She began to weep harder and collapsed to the floor in a pitiful position, and a few patrons glared at the mistress, who had begun forming another no. When one approached with an admonishing glare, she backpedaled quickly and loudly said "all right, all right!"

No one cheered because they all hated Loveless and her perfection, but Loveless stood up and seemed to glow as she gently kissed each of her mistresses cheeks. (She was excellent at bending light around her to give her that attractive glow, and she could see out of the corner of her eye a few more patrons falling in love with her. She tried not to smirk.)

Dashing upstairs with her skirts floating behind her like fairy wings, Loveless tried to choose what to pack and she twirled. At last, her chance to laucnh herself to fame - Fair Entropy was in good favour with Cadence. Loveless smiled wickedly, for soon, the throne would be hers and hers to keep. And all it took was a bag of bits dropped in a box and some kissing, and the previous ticket owner was in the ground in days.

Not that Loveless had disposed of her herself, oh no. Ladies like Loveless had class. And what was a future princess without class?

Bring it on.

It was a peaceful yet anxious day for our aspiring chemist. Erlen Meyer, one of the most promising medical students in the University of Manehattan, had just finished his medical school program and had just graduated. He could still remember his few friends cheering for him as he received his medical degree... Sterling Crimson... Blue Note... Chemm Blonde... they were all such nice folk in the midst of all the hostility that was rampant in the university. Now that he was done medical school, it was time for him to discover a career in medical chemistry. He had been given a job as a researcher at a pharmaceutical company in a suburb in Manehattan because of his degree.

Before all that though, Erlen had a secret no pony had ever known... deep down, he loved to see all the magazines featuring Fair Entropy... He harboured a deep crush on Fair Entropy. Every night he would dream of being able to be kissed by Fair Entropy just once. Her finesse, grace, and attractiveness made his heart jump at a moment's notice. Whenever he saw her modelling for Vogue Magazine, his heart would skip a beat. To him, she was the ultimate source of satisfaction and pleasure... Unfortunately, one would wonder why anypony, let alone Fair Entropy, would even bother to give him a second look. His mane was ruffled, his teeth were braced because of issues with his teeth development, and his voice was so raspy ponies thought he was from outer space upon first inspection.

Even with this stark reality, Erlen dreamed of seeing his "love", Fair Entropy. He had been pouring over all sorts of magazines just pretending to kiss her when he got a chance. Nopony else knew about his obsession over Fair Entropy, not even his closest friends Chemm and Sterling. He was simply too embarrassed to show it off, especially to Sterling, because he would often preach patience when it came to finding the mare of one's dreams. Sterling would simply laugh at him. He would lose what little dignity he had left as a chemist!

Erlen had just woke up from his humble little bed at his red-bricked house. He trudged as he always would towards the mailbox, wondering what new bills and logistics he had to deal with today. On this day, things were different... There was a letter! And it was written just for Erlen Meyer! And it had frills and a very well-designed layout for an envelope! It had to be from Fair Entropy, it just had to be! Erlen opened the envelope excitedly and shouted with a loud cheer after seeing the gold plates and reading the letter,

"YYEEESSS!!! I GOT AN ALL-PAID TRIP! I DON'T KNOW HOW I GOT IT, BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER! I WON IT!"

Erlen wanted to tell his friends, but at the same time, they would realize his obsession over Fair Entropy... Well if this was broadcasted, then they would know anyway... right? Still, Erlen wanted to keep it a secret. This was something he had been looking forward to for his whole medical school career. Mares would turn their heads against Erlen because of how ugly he looked. If he could get the kiss from the elegant Fair Entropy, his whole life could change... and he could brag about it in front of Sterling! Sure he was very happy for Sterling in that he would marry Blue Note soon enough; after all, they were a very cute couple. But still! He wanted to show that he too could attract mares despite his looks! This would be his chance!

Erlen pranced happily back to his house, preparing his luggage for the trip of a lifetime...

It was a normal day for Repsol. In the morning he would wake up thanks to his overly loud alarm clock. He took a shower, and trotted to Sugarcube Corner for yet another day of work for the Cake family. The workday itself prove to be rather boring. Working as a delivery pony had it's advantages. You where always outside, you wouldn't have to worry about getting fit, since all deliveries are made on hoof. And the pay wasn't that bad either.

But it sure had it's downsides too. You barely have time for lunch breaks. You have to make the delivery, even if the weather pegasi planned a storm for that day. And don't even get me started on working in the same place as a certain pink mare.

But in the end of the day, it all just didn't really matter. Repsol enjoyed his job, and he was planning to keep it that way.

After work, he trotted home like he normally would. Ms. Cake had given him a complimentary bag of muffins like allways, and he was chewing down a particular delicious blueberry muffin just now. It was perfect, nice and moist on the inside while still perfectly baked on the outside. As he kept on enjoying his muffins, he couldn't help but feel like he was being followed. And he swore he could see a grey blur somewhere on a rooftop in the corner of his eye.

Repsol finally arrived at his little house on the outskirts of ponyville. He unlocked the door, and was emediately greeted with a pretty big mess. To him however, this mess was called 'home', and he wouldn't have it any other way.

After dumping some stuff inside, he trotted over to his mailbox in search for that day's newspaper. He found exactly that, but also some letter he didn't really recognise. It seemed pretty important tough, so he decided to just read it. Upon opening it however, his jaw literally dropped so far down that he could definately fit an entire hoof inside of it.

I... Acually won? That must be a mistake of some sorts. I'd better double-triple check this.

It was not a mistake.

He looked around to see if somepony had seen him open the letter, and quickly came to the kinda obvious conclusion that nopony did. He galloped as fast as his legs could carry him back inside his house, Holding the letter close.

This was going to be the trip of a lifetime. And he wasn't planning on missing it.

In a particularly luxurious-looking house just outside Los Pegasus, Dagger went through his mail as usual, smiling as he read one particular letter. He had won. Of course he had won. When you were Dagger, you didn't simply lose things. Well, you did, but only as much as necessary, until it suited you to start winning. But something had told him this trip would be interesting, so he had entered and pulled some strings to make sure things went as planned. Of course, he wouldn't be going alone. It seemed he never went anywhere alone these days.

In a somewhat flashier and even more luxurious-looking house just a few blocks away, Cloak recieved a similar letter. The old man had come through. Well, good for him. A job was a job. It's not like she was secretly thrilled at the prospect of meeting Fair Entropy or anything. That would be silly. Totally ridiculous. Definitely not how she felt at all. Nope, not her. But still, a free trip might be nice.

Several hours later, in a small and surprisingly empty cafe, two ponies were in the middle of what seemed to be a very strange conversation.

"Not as my daughter, that won't do at all."

"But we have to be together, or else what's the point?"

"No, not together. Not all the time, anyway. Wouldn't want people getting suspicious, would we?"

"We work as a team, though. We always do."

"Well, we'll be splitting up this time. If necessary, we can meet to share information. But I'm sure you'll be just fine on your own. I've taught you well."

"If you say so."

And so they each made preparations for the trip separately, agreeing to stay out of contact with each other until the trip.

It was but another day up in the mountains. North Light stood there with closed eyes on a small plateau, enjoying a cold wind as it blew past him. He opened his eyes as he gazed out upon the beautiful, snowy and rocky scenery, bathed in the dim light from the sun that had just set... He found this beyond relaxing, forgetting every worry one as himself might have...

Just then, a piece of paper blew right into his face.

Removing it, he gave it a look of wonder. "What... This?" he said to himself, before he spotted a few feathers of a very familiar colours blowing past him. "Hm... Ye can just... Hand these things to me... Normally, ye know..." he said, seemingly speaking with somepony, even though his surroundings looked deserted and empty.

He sat down as he inspected the paper - he recognised it as a letter. Opening it carefully - well, at least as carefully as one as big as himself could - he begun reading. "I... Won? ...Won what?" he begun, as he looked behind him. "Did you... Set me up for this?" he said, once again to somepony else.

"That be fine... Stay quiet if ye wish." he said, before turning back. "And I am supposedly the more quiet one of us...". A wind quietly blew past him in a different direction than those earlier. "Ah, so you did not..."

He read through the letter a couple more times before seeming to understand it completely. "Can ponies not write things as simple they are these days..." he said to himself with a sigh. "But it looks interesting... Could be something fun, I guess... And with these bits... I could live without many a common worry..." he said, before turning around again. "Thank ye for bringing me this... I will now leave for... The station I think we have... We have one, right?".

His ears perked up as the wind blew past him again. "Ah, good. I guess that is where I am supposed to be picked up...". He stood up, and waved a wing in an empty direction before starting to walk to the closest town of Trotheim to prepare anything he might need.

@@repsol rave,

(I swear i'm not copying you, it's just coincidence :P You can check Dusk's profile page if you don't believe me :3)

Under any normal circumstances, Frostbite would be outside and practicing her magic by this time, freshened up and ready for the day's regular journey to the nearby town. Of course, living in a cave on snow covered mountains wasn't exactly the best place for setting up a town, so she would still have quite a journey to make for her food and comforts. She was a peculiar one after all, preferring to be away from others, but having nothing against them - in fact she needed them. She had no money of her own, and instead she had to rely on her surprising looks, charm and wit to get her own way in life. She had a knack for reading ponies expressions and seeing what it was they truly desired, and she did her best to provide - for something she required of course, the likelihood of her doing something out of sheer good will was...non-existent at best.

Alas, today was different. In the previous weeks, she had had to make a train ride to Ponyville to stay for the stupidest reason. There where no mailboxes where she lived, and she did have...acquaintances in Ponyville. So instead of waking up and rolling out of her bed and heading into the bathroom, she was still flat out in bed long after Dusk had awoke.

"Uh...Arctic?" He nervously prodded her with a hoof, as she was sleeping in his bed during her stay.

She simply grunted a sort of "What?" response, but nopony could be too sure with a sleeping mare in the morning.

"It's uh...I...well I need to go to work now, that's all."

She rolled over, banging her head on the drawers next to the bed and immediately hoisted the covers over her. "Time?"

"It's...uh, gone nine"

That was all she needed to hear, for a mare who was one minute asleep, the next she was out the door down the stairs, past Mrs. Cake and her customer, and out the main entrance, diving into the outside mailbox like a starving dog in a trash can.

Just as quick as she had gone downstairs, she was back in Dusks room. Dusk himself had only gotten time to turn around and head to the door after making the bed before she flashed back inside, sending an ice cold chill down his spine. "Could you turn the heat down please dear? It's a bit warm in here." she battered her eyelashes knowing full well he would do whatever she asked. He simply turned and looked in disbelief at the thermostat '-15 and she's warm?' he thought. "Uh...sure..."

She didn't even hear his reply, she was too busy scanning the letter for that telltale "You've won." And there it was.

The grin that spread across her face was a mix of deviousness and pleasure. She wasn't so happy to have won the contest as she was to go on the ride and get the chance to meet Entropy herself. Even her name was foreboding and Frostbite loved it, she was rich, and that was all she needed to hear. Frostbite had yet to meet a pony she couldn't sway, stallion or mare, with some time. This was going to be fun.

(OOC: Let's go! Let's go! Let's go! Couldn't have put it better myself. ^.^).

It was late morning, and the sun was shining high in Ponyville, not that Feather Quill could enjoy it; she was sat behind a counter in a dusty old bookshop, enjoying a brief respite of no customers - a bad work ethic, she supposed, but Feather detested working in the shop when it was busy; indeed, the population within the shop seemed to have a direct positive correlation with the odds of her breaking the till again.

At least it was a bookshop, though - Feather could never imagine working in a shop that sold clothes, for instance; she would be a failure at dressing the mannequins in something presentable. But books she could manage just fine - she could work up the odd decent conversation with a customer about whatever volume they were purchasing, at least.

You're surrounded by shelves of information and inspiration, Quill - and one day you're gonna be just as good as all these authors; just get off your flank first and out of this soul destroying sarcophagus of a shop...

Feather sighed, resting her head on the counter and letting her beret flop over her eyes. "That's just the problem." she muttered to herself. "I can't afford to get off my flank."

It was true - Feather wanted to travel, she really did, but it seemed going anywhere worthwhile cost a few more bits than she could spare. The bookshop did not pay much, and half her pay was docked anyway, to cover her accommodation fees. Yeah - that was the only reason she wasn't trekking through the Ambelzon Rainforest this very moment. It was simply a matter of funding, that was all.

"The moment I have enough bits," she told herself. "I'll be out of here like a bullet."

Bits for travelling...

The thought sparked a memory in Feather's brain. She sat up at once, as though she had received an electric shock. Her eyes darted hesitantly about the shop in uncertainty, but it was deserted.

I'll be back before anypony even knows I was gone. Feather told herself. Still, it was with some degree of apprehension that she flitted out of the shop as fast as her wings could carry her, and straight to the letterbox just outside. It opened with a single harsh tap of a hoof, revealing a rather ornately designed envelope. Feather fumbled awkwardly with the envelope for a moment, before finally managing to rip it open with her teeth. Holding it in her hooves, Feather's eyes flitted over the gold-trimmed letter, and as she took the information in she subconsciously began to hover a few feet off the ground.

"Miss Feather Quill!"

The sound of Dust Tome, the dusty old bookshop's dusty old owner, barking her name brought Feather back to the ground. She smiled sheepishly at the elderly stallion, who glared back at her unblinkingly. "What, pray tell, do you think you're doing, Miss Quill?" he asked, flatly. "I'm sure you're not leaving the shop unattended to see to your own personal matters - why, that would be the height of irresponsibility, even for one such as you..."

Feather's ears drooped. Her eyes fell, but rather than the ground she found herself looking at the letter declaring her success in applying for some competition she'd forgotten all about. Here it was: her chance.

Feather Quill was going to travel the whole of Equestria by train.

Feather raised her head to look Tome in the eye. A slight smile creased her muzzle.

"Well, actually sir..."

Money is power. Power is awesome. What is more awesome, however, are the stupid ponies who put smart ponies into power. Using money. Because...y'know, the whole "money and power" thing.

Jabbermouth wasn't good at the whole "wise sayings" bit. But he was a good con-pony.

"Hehehe...Jabbermouth, you sly ole' dog. You never cease to amaze me." Jabber pocketed the letter he had received from the drunken mare in the royal prison, then laughed heartily. "Yeah? Well, who cares if I talk to myself? I'm gonna be rich! And rich ponies get to do whatever. They. Want."

Trotting through the streets of Canterlot, Jabber sighed contentedly. A few greased hooves and a well-placed compliment had reduced his sentence from four years to eleven hours. Honestly, even he was surprised at his massive success. The royal prison didn't employ the most moral of soldiers, sure, but still. Eleven hours for selling Blueblood a piece of junk was priceless! That story wouldn't definitely garner him drinks at the next pub.

He rolled the words of the letter over in his head. Meet at the station (which station?), something about enthalpy (isn't that a science-y thing?), and a whole ton of money. Jabber had never seen so many zeroes at once in his life! A jackpot like that would be more than enough for an early retirement for all of eternity.

Trotting for the station, he mulled over both the process of winning the cash prize and what he would do with said winnings. Jabber wasn't a book-smart pony, but he certainly was street-smart -- maybe he could pay somepony else to do the hard thinking stuff for him. Or was that cheating? Would anypony care? The letter had said something about teams, right? He could be the handsome face of the group while the others did the egghead stuff in the background. Yeah, that would totally work.

Jabbermouth rounded a corner, revealing the immense, glittering form of Canterlot Station. Yeah, he thought to himself. The first thing I'll build in my new city is a freakin' awesome train station. With trains that go to the moon.

As he took a seat on a bench just outside of the luxurious Station, Jabber pulled the letter out of his saddlebag and read it over a few times more. Another train ride, this time with money at the end? Totally worth the silly ponies he'd have to put up with to get there.

Erlen could only imagine what the all-expense paid trip would be like. High class dining, beautiful Equestrian scenery, and most of all, Fair Entropy! His eyes brightened at the thought. Erlen and Fair Entropy... now that would be a dream match... He could see it all... at the beaches, he would be beside her, just speaking flattery with his raspy voice. Fair would giggle, marveling at Erlen's cute voice. He knew other winners came along, so he had to be at his best! He instantly began to playfully comb his hair in front of his square mirror in his house's bathroom, making sure it was neat as possible.

As he continued to comb his hair though, he heard the doorbell ring. Who could possibly be knocking on his door at this time? Erlen stopped what he was doing, worried that the other ponies would know of his obsession. He rushed over to the door as quickly as possible, making sure the pony at door wouldn't be kept waiting. He rushed downstairs but tripped along the way, thudding his head hard onto the wooden floor. Erlen quickly shook his head and ran towards the door. He then peeked through the window wondering who it could be... It was Chemm! Erlen gasped, wondering why she would be here today of all days! He had to get ready for his trip! He didn't have time to chat, even if she was one of his best friends from medical school! Nonetheless, he had to answer the door... He opened it quickly and Chemm instantly spoke with glee in her face before he began,

"Erlen! First time I get to see you after graduation! Congratulations again!"

"Chemm... what... what are you doing here? Aren't... aren't you supposed to be beginning your surgical practice at one of Manehattan's hospitals soon?" Erlen replied with nervousness in his eyes. He really liked Chemm, but he was busy getting ready for Fair Entropy. What did she want today?

""Well... yes... and no. I came today, but they said there wasn't much to do today. I'll probably be working on some introductory surgery practice tomorrow!" An awkward silence descended onto the two ponies... Chemm then remembered why she came.

"Because I'm off today Erlen, I was wondering... if you had time to... hang out with me today..." Chemm asked shyly, feeling a blush develop on her cheeks. She had harboured a deep crush on Erlen in their medical school days, and she wanted a chance to hang out with him some more, especially after all he did for her in medical school.

"Well Chemm, I'd like to, but... I'm preparing for something! Yes! And it's really important! I'm sorry I can't hang out today! Maybe some other time ok?" Erlen replied nervously. He really didn't want Chemm of all ponies knowing about his crush on Fair Entropy. He liked Chemm, but he wasn't sure whether she was the one to start a relationship with... at least not yet.

"Oh... Ok... I... guess I'll be off then... See... see you later Erlen." replied Chemm sadly as she walked away...

Erlen quickly closed the door, breathing a sigh of relief that Chemm wouldn't know about her... at least... not yet. Erlen then rushed back upstairs to continue his packing and grooming...

------------------------------------------------------

Chemm walked away from Erlen's house with a slight tear in her eye. What made Erlen so busy as to not hang out with her? Sure they were friends for about a year, but was Erlen hiding something? She quickly shook off her negative thoughts, reflecting again on Erlen as a stallion... She took out a picture of her and Erlen working together at a chemistry lab. She remembered that lab. When the lab went so smoothly that they were the first team to finish. And when her lab professor decided to take a picture of "the model lab team". Those were the good times she didn't want to ever forget...

"Oh Erlen... I've overheard you speak to yourself about how mares never really cared about you... If only you knew how I felt, and still feel now... When you helped me in my chemistry courses, I couldn't help but admire your smarts, your warmth, and your care... Even after the tutoring sessions, even after I kept on antagonizing Sterling, your best friend, you still wanted to chat with me. It was a welcome relief after I broke up with Rocky... Yes he was muscular and mighty, but his heart just wasn't right for me... Oh Erlen... oh Erlen..."

After some contemplation of what way would best suit her approach to Entropy and her wealth, she eventually settled on her looks.

It didn't take much for Frostbite to look her best, even if she had to try.

She had lived in the mountains for so long, she wasn't sure if her crystalline coat was part of the mountains or a result of her magic, but either way it was there. Whenever the sun caught her cyan coat, it would sparkle and shimmer in the light as if she had slept in glitter the previous night. Directly this was a result of the layers and layers of snow and frost that settled on her coat daily, as if it had now become a part of her, not that she complained about it of course. It required a minimal upkeep for her and as long as she kept her coat clean, it would almost always look its best. Even without direct intervention from a light source, her coat was almost like a blue velvet blanket anyway, the sparkle just added to the effect.

Her mane was another thing she always loved, however it did require some more maintenance than your average bowl of spaghetti. You'll never see her without her brush or a comb, put it that way. Also it didn't shimmer nearly as much as her coat, making for what some may see as an odd contrast between the two.

However, she loved her mane more than is probably considered healthy because no matter how she brushed it, it always seemed to fall into place. There's the odd time where it just doesn't want to behave, but it's natural puffiness hides that to some extent.

Overall if she wanted to look her best, it would likely require a bath and for her to comb her mane - and that was exactly what she intended to do.

"Dusk!" She called out in a demanding tone, before realising he had left. "Oh for the love of..." she sighed, trotting downstairs and right past the counter of Sugarcube Corner into the kitchen. "Dusk where are your cleaning products?" she raised an eyebrow - there was something about seeing a stallion who towered well over a foot above her washing pots in a hair net. "...I...well then. I need a bath sugar, be a dear?" She knew Dusk all too well, all she had to do was bat her eyelids and he'd be on her whim like you wouldn't believe.

"They're under the bath, you'll have to remove the panel" he was too busy earning his living to be nervous around her, or even completely acknowledge she was there.

"You feel like joining me?" she whispered in his ear with a soft giggle.

That caught his attention, raising his head he immediately banged it on the cupboard above the sink, causing a few things to fall out onto the floor. He simply cursed and went on cleaning, bright red in his cheeks as he was now - not that Frostbite would notice. She was already gone.

Naturally she found his selection of toiletries to be rather...male. Nothing special for sensitive coats or anything of the sort - he did however have bath salts and that was good enough for her. After running the water in the bath with an unamused look on her face, she eventually settled into a full tub of purely cold tap water and relaxed against the end, allowing herself a few minutes before what would no doubt be a frantic rush to the train station.

(OoC: I forgot to mention to everyone that the central train station you will be arriving at to catch your train is in Canterlot, since everyone lives in different areas. The first stop of the train will be announced later; we will be using this map and locations within each city will be provided at each stop. One location that will be used that is not included on the map is Trotonto.)

Catchkey unsmilingly stepped into the car, his single suitcase neatly packed. He had called one to pick him up the previous evening and take him to the train station that evening - trains were quicker and the Canterlot ride was at least seven hours. He glanced at his pocket watch and noted the time - 3 a.m. - trying to figure out how much time he would have in the city before he had to get to the platform. His train left at 4:30 a.m., and the Entropy left at 6:30 p.m. (a note had been included in the letter, this fraught with explanation points as well, reminding that the first night's dinner was mandatory due to a "super special announcement from-" and more excited terms describing their hostess), so he would have at least five or six hours. He groaned - he had hoped it would be less, but he evidently miscalculated.

The driver yawned and set off, pulling the horsecart rather slowly, and Catch rolled his eyes, keeping his face well beneath the hood, the glow of his eyes slightly muted. Batwings were nigh owls and his vision in the dark was significantly better than that in the light, but not everyone appreciated the nuances of his races culture and anatomy.

After what seemed ages the cart finally navigated the streets of the still-dark Vanhoover and they pulled up at the flashy train station, where Catch paid the driver and quickly stole inside. After the overlong process of getting his ticket checked, he smiled at the pretty desk clerk who had been so polite and sweet (a rarity to him), who shied away at the sight of his slight fangs. Catch closed his mouth faster than he could blink and his stoic expression resumed as he muttered a thanks and walked away.

The train ride was long and boring, and he couldn't bring himself to fall asleep, not even when daylight broke through the window and he had to put on sunglasses to avoid the light. He staggered out into Canterlot and found himself a bar to sit in for a while, ignoring the coos of a few promiscuous mares as he stared into the depths of his drink.

Eventually, having not even started his beverage, he packed up and left. It was time. Breathing a small sigh he stood, waiting, in the train station, when he noticed a gold, flashy sign.

"ENTROPY PASSENGERS THIS WAY!" it screamed, and he followed its arrow until he found a large door that opened into what appeared to be a private terminal with (of course) gold everything. He tentatively sat down on a bench and tightened his hood and waited quietly. He had been, after all, more than an hour early, and he had time to spare.

---

Loveless attracted glances, she knew, especially in her current garb, which was complete excess. She was practically dripping jewels from the tiara in her perfectly coiffed mane down to the shoes on her feet, and she delicately stepped along, smiling all the while as she neatly kept her luggage levitating. She saw a few ponies gawk at her from their cars, and she smiled genteelly at each one, though she rejected their offers to take her to the station, which were many. The nice part about living in Canterlot was that everything was easily accessible, even if (like Loveless) you weren’t in the nicer parts of town. Not unless you were with a client, that is, and Loveless had no intention of staying in her current state forever. How terrible it would look for a princess to have once been in her current position.

She eventually arrived at the station, proudly glancing about her as she tilted her head to the side, examining the platform. She knew she was early but she wanted to make a good impression by doing so (a good lady was always at least five minutes early). A large sign on the wall pronounced that she would be going to a different section of the station and she smiled gleefully, following the arrow until she arrived in a brightly golden room with a single hooded pony seated on a bench. She instantly approached them.

“Why are you hiding your face?” she asked sweetly. “Is it because you’re a batpony?”

The young man looked up sharply and she could see his eyes now – definitely batpony. “How could you tell?” he muttered, and his voice was slightly deeper than she had predicted. She was disappointed – she normally was able to tell everything about someone just from a glance, but she had already failed in her eyes.

“The way you hold your shoulders,” she said, pointing. “Wings on your kind are larger than on those of pegasi.” She reached out and pulled up his hood with no warning and she shuddered a little at the coolness of his skin, but continued smoothly, not displaying any discomfort.

“Your facial shape is broader due to your eye shape,” she added, tracing the shape, “and you have a thicker body shape as well. Your breathing is different because of the fangs and your eyes do give on that slight glow.”

The batpony just stared at her for a few moments and Loveless smiled and, with no other words, sat down on the other end of the bench and closed her eyes.

(OoC: Bad news guys – my parents sprung a surprise trip to my cottage on me and I won’t be on until Friday, likely. I will attempt to steal my father’s iPad. For now, just interact with one another. If need be I will prompt the train leaving without me. I am really really sorry.)

Watching the world roll past from the train window, the now decidedly unemployed - and technically homeless, she supposed - Feather Quill tried her best not to panic.

It'll be an adventure, she told herself, but that didn't quite quell the queasiness in her stomach that had gradually taken over from her initial excitement. Digging into a saddle bag, she pulled out a notebook and pen in her muzzle, but she was too nervous to concentrate and the rattling of the carriage made it all but impossible to write anyway.

Instead, Feather tried to remember what she knew about the celebrity guest who would be hosting the trip; Fair Entropy. She was both a singer and an actress - and indeed Feather had enjoyed a few of her songs in the past - as well as a model, though beyond that Feather didn't really know much about Entropy at all. She was certainly pretty, at least.

"Bit too glamorous for my tastes though, I bet." Feather muttered, lying back in the seat and pulling her beret over her eyes in what would later prove to be a futile attempt to get some sleep on the way to Canterlot.

Canterlot Station was as daunting as Feather remembered from school trips and the occasional family outing. It was vast, but too busy really to fly in - certainly not with a suitcase in your muzzle, that was for sure. Instead, Feather found herself being carried in a current of ponies towards the centre of the station, under a large, ornate, four- faced clock hanging from the ceiling.  Breaking from the flow of bodies to stand in the eye of the storm beneath the clock, Feather was finally able to flap an inch or two above the ground and take a look around the station for directions. Seconds before the weight of her bags forced her to land, she was able to spot a large, golden sign directing passengers of the Entropy.

"How in Equestria did I miss that, then?" Feather exclaimed to herself in rather loud wonder as she followed the sign's directions out a door and into a much quieter terminal which appeared to be gleefully splashed  everywhere with dollops of gold.

Oh yes, Feather thought to herself as she lowered her suitcase and gazed around the overly ornate platform. Far too glamorous.

Two other ponies sat on a bench nearby, though Feather was not sure if they had noticed her yet. She flashed a slight smile their way on reflex but did not sit between them, instead carrying her case to another bench slightly further along.

Uh...I have no idea what to put here.

Black=Ano

Blue=Phe

Grey=Nathaniel

"Yes a perfect gift for me,

Is a smile as wide as a mile,

To make me happy as can be!"

(OoC: Hey guys, I have crappy reception up here so don't expect too much from my end. I'll try though. Don't want this guy to die before he starts, LOL. Sorry if my post sucks, we're prepping one of our cottages for sale and I've been hand-sanding all day because my father failed to mention we have a power sander, after which I threw a slight internal fit, which was very tiring. Anyways. Better actually get posting before the 3G cuts out, as Olivia is so politely reminding me. Bah.)

Catchkey glanced up at the mare who gave both he and the stranger next to him a tight, brief smile that was clearly a habit. Perhaps genuine friendliness was behind it, but Catch had learned to assume the worst in all facial expressions. The stranger kept her eyes shut but smirked, and Catch felt an uncomfortable twist in his stomach, like she could perceive all his thoughts. A brief memory flicked across his mind of a girl he had met long ago, but he ignored it and kept his head down, not wanting to attract attention. He was glad he had pulled his hood up quickly after the mare on the bench beside him had stopped her creepy touchy-feely session.

"Pegasus, mare," said the other mare suddenly aloud, at Catch blinked at her stupidly. "On the young side, but not too young. Heavy hoofbeats, but weight isn't the problem, baggage is expected and the sound is too irregular...I smell ink. A writer, carrying a suitcase? The thunk was too loud for a saddlebag. Mane rustling tells me there's a hat of some kind, something a bit baggier.Tell me if I'm right."

Loveless was certain she was, but she liked to toy around with her companions. She kept her eyes firmly closed, painting the pegasus in her mind, toying with colours. Her senses weren't that attuned but you learned to pay attention with her job and lifestyle. However, she was almost certain she was more beautiful. Any self-respecting buffoon wouldn't wear such stupid hats, and would at least put so e perfume on the get rid of their repugnant smells (Loveless recommended lavender. Strong but sweet. And cheap for the poor that littered the streets. She was a writer or some sort of literary worker , after all. Poorness was expected.)

Erlen was just finished packing up for the trip to Canterlot. He was excited and ecstatic.  He could finally be given a chance to see Fair Entropy in person, and the only thing separating him from that reality was a mere train ride to Canterlot! Erlen had already purchased train tickets to Canterlot a few days earlier while he was still packing, and he made sure it was stored safely inside his brown wooden drawer. He treated the ticket like it was his foal. He made sure it was in perfect condition, knowing that if it was destroyed, that he would have to waste more bits to get another ticket to Canterlot.

Erlen had already packed up his luggage and was now walking out of his humble abode. Before he left for the Manehattan Train Station underneath the sunny blue sky, he placed a little note on a side wall just by his door. It read the following:

"To anypony visiting my house. I will not be back for a month. I have won a train ride and I'm going to have a lot of rest after graduating! What luck for me!

~Erlen Meyer"

Satisfied with his note, Erlen walked with a beaming smile towards the train station. He continued to imagine being with Fair Entropy during his walk when he was interrupted by two ponies who were shouting his name! It was a familiar red stallion and a blue mare! It was Sterling Crimson and Blue Note! Erlen jumped for a moment, realizing that he could be exposed. Even if they were his close friends, Erlen didn't want them knowing about Fair Entropy. What if they told Chemm? That was the last thing he wanted! Erlen waved his hoof awkwardly at the couple and then spoke with a sheepish smile,

"Oh, hi Sterling and Blue! What are you two up to?"

"Well Blue Note and I are going to spend the day together. We're going to be going over to the Smithsoneighan Museum. It's going to be such an awesome day!" Sterling replied with excitement.

"Yep. We're going to be looking through the entire museum. It's our way of celebrating our graduations. And I heard Sterling's got a special surprise for me today, but he won't show it until tonight..." Blue Note concurred with Sterling.

"Well what are you up to? Why are you bringing your luggage along?" Sterling asked with a look that screamed "weird".

"Well... I'm going on a train trip. I won it recently. I gotta get going now. My train ride's waiting!" That was all Erlen said of the trip. He didn't want to say anything more. He then hastily walked off, also telling Sterling that he wouldn't be back for a month...

Sterling could only look onward as Erlen awkwardly rushed away towards the train station. He wasn't quite sure what to make of the suddenly nervous Erlen. He even wanted to congratulate him, but he was never given the chance.

"Well Blue Note. I guess... that's the last we'll see of Erlen for a month?" Sterling asked Blue Note with a look of confusion in his face.

"Yes... I guess. That was pretty strange of Erlen. Why would he run off so quickly...?" asked Blue Note as she concurred with Sterling's concerns as the couple walked off to the museum...

------------------

Meanwhile, Chemm was working into her afternoon shift at the Manehattan Hospital. She couldn't help but continue to think about Erlen. Why did he not accept her proposal to hang out that day? Yes he was busy, but still. She tried to ask Erlen whether he was available every day, to no response. Why was he busy everyday? Was it because he didn't like her? What if he wanted to avoid her? What if he found another mare who loved him? What if... he never loved her?

It was becoming harder for Chemm to bear. She could feel her sense of fear tingle up her spine as she continued to work. Even her fellow coworkers began to notice her fears. They asked her if she was okay, but her usual yeses weren't very convincing to say the least. She would continue to dream about being with Erlen, sitting underneath the moonlight in a romantic setting, with everything climaxing up to a kiss, and the other ponies would tell her to get back to work.

When her workday was done, she would lazy on home, continually dreaming about Erlen. She would sigh and swoon with glee whenever she dreamed of a happily ever after for herself and Erlen. However, all she could now was simply wait... maybe Erlen would be available later. Maybe he was just busy. Who knows? Either way, she resolved to confront Erlen about him being so busy everyday tomorrow as she sighed happily yet nervously to complete her day...

(Apologies, I would have replied yesterday, but my head was pounding after Tulpaforging and I couldn't think of what to put)

Frostbite awoke with a start, apparently she had fallen asleep in the bath.

Scrambling around, the water cracked as she moved, breaking the thin layer of ice that had formed over the top. It took her a surprisingly short amount of time to be up and out of the bath, dried off and ready to go. "I really should pay more attention, I don't even know how long i'm going to be away..." she sighed, hauling her saddlebag from under Dusks bed and flinging it on top, open ready to pack. After several minutes of packing, she finally managed to grab everything she thought she would need - much to her saddlebag's discontent, as the bottom of the bag stretched to bursting.

Tossing it over her shoulders onto her back, she smiled as she combed her mane in the mirror while slipping on her ankle bracelets. "Well...good to go, I guess"

Leaving Sugarcube Corner, she moved swiftly and with surprising grace for one headed to the train station, before she finally arrived. Reaching into her external pocket on her saddlebag, she went for her train ticket - only to realise she had never bought one. Her face flattened, and her eyes dropped into an "Are you serious" expression.

She took a deep breath, puffing out her chest lightly and clearing her throat before she trotted up to the attendant in the booth. He was a grumpy looking stallion to say the least, looked to be fairly old with wrinkled skin and an expression that said "I hate my job."

"Yes?"

Frostbite shuddered inside, looks like she was going to have to turn on her most undesired charm for this one. "Oh? Hello there handsome" she couldn't help but wince inside as the words passed her lips. "I seem to have misplaced my ticket for my ride to Canterlot, and I have urgent need to be there"

He glanced at her saddlebags and clearly noticed the way she was dressed for a special occasion, giving her a raised eyebrow in a disbelieving look. "That's a shame isn't it ma'am? Can't be having you missing out on important business can we? But the train doesn't leave for another hour yet, you'll have plenty of time to go and find it."

"Yes, I know but you see, I don't live around here and it's been a long walk...by the time I get back home to look for it, the train will have left for sure." Now's the time...let's see if we still have it "Oh please, can't you let me off just this once? My aunt is gravely ill and I don't often get time to see her" she pulled the classic puppy-eyed look, making out she was fighting off tears as she spoke.

After a few minutes of scanning through his papers and looking her over, he eventually gave in, finally letting her on with a "new" ticket.

Perking up, she smiled cutely at him before taking the ticket and nodding a thank-you, trotting onto the train awaiting its departure.

@@repsol rave,

(So, I suppose it makes sense for only one train to leave to Canterlot from here, i'll let you decide when it departs)

Repsol lay on his bed. He hadn't slept for 2 days now, he was too nervous to actually sleep. Today he was actually going to canterlot after all!

He had his saddlebags packed and ready a few days ago, so all he had to do now was wait. And waiting is pretty boring if you ask me. The sleep was basically killing him now. He was way too tired and in the same time way too nervous. But eventually even the best has a breaking point, and Repsol dozed off in a dreamless sleep.

In his sleep he softly murmered some gibberish, when his mind started to remember something. Today was something important... right? I had to do something. I had to...

Oh buck me

Repsol shot up in his bed. His eyes scanned every corner of his room before his sleepy head finally stared at the clock.

"10 minutes....10MINUTES!!"

This was bad, oh so very, very bad. His house wasn't exactly next to the train station. He made his way too the front door and skidded to a halt on his front porch. "Saddlebags."

He jumped and spun around in the air, landing on all fours. He quickly got his saddlebags and locked his door. To any normal pony, he would have allready been too late. repsol however wasn't a normal pony. He was probably the fastest runner in his neighborhood. Granted, he could never match somepony like Rainbow dash, but he came pretty damn close.

He galloped through ponyville as fast as he could, leaving a trail of dust behind him. After exactly 7 minutes of running the train station came into view.

He turned his head to grab his ticket our of his saddlebags, never even thinking of slowing down. When he finally found the ticket and turned his head back again it was allready too late, and he smacked into the train's cart with a very sickening crunch.

"Ow. buck me ow, ow ,ow" he rubbed his head with a hoof when somepony called. "All aboard!"

repsol didn't have to hear that a second time, and he quickly made his way into a cart.

As he looked into the cart he noticed that it was relatively empty. There where a few ponies sitting in the back. One mare however, cought his attention. She had a light blue coat and an even lighter blue mane. Repsol trotted past her and sat down in a window seat behind her. Repsol didn't know why but somehow he got the chills looking at her. He dismissed it with a shrug and blamed his nerves. The train started moving and Repsol looked at the landscape gliding past. today is going to be amazing!

Erlen Meyer, a budding chemist, had won a ticket to see Fair Entropy. The thought could not be removed from Erlen's mind as he arrived at the train station to depart to Canterlot. He had been on this train ride many times to perform extra chemical research for his research leader in Canterlot, but this was different. He was not going to Canterlot for typical business. He was going on a ride of his life as soon as he arrived in Canterlot! He continued to daydream about the possibilities! Fair Entropy and Erlen Meyer... the smartest pony would get the most beautiful mares... It would shatter previous understanding that nice and smart guys finished last... Erlen wanted to be the trigger. And so he became all the more excited and all the more ecstatic that he was given this divine chance to prove Equestria wrong...

Erlen gave the ticket master at the modern train station his ticket with a confident smile, to which the ticket master replied with a simple nod and a deep voice,

"Ok sir your train will depart in 15 minutes. You can now enter the train as you so please."

Erlen nodded back at the ticket master as he trotted towards the silver, metallic train that would take him to Canterlot for what would be the journey of his life. Erlen entered through the train's doors and sat comfortably at one of the usual brown leather seats that always welcomed him on his train rides to Canterlot. As soon as the doors shut tight, Erlen inwardly squeed, knowing that he was one step closer... to the love of his life...

Now the train had roared to life. Erlen could hear the train's hisses and the chugs that allowed the train and its attached cars to move. Erlen was now ready to nap though. He didn't have much to do but to daydream, so he did so while napping...

----------------

"Erlen... wake up... Erlen..." a feminine voice had called out to Erlen.

Erlen shook his head. Who was that? Erlen could only gasp. It was Fair Entropy... the very model of beauty and attraction... He could barely believe it. He was still in the Manehattan train to Canterlot, but what was she doing here?

"F-F-F-F-Fair... Entropy? Why... why hello..." Erlen replied with a blush accumulating in his face.

"Hehe. I'm so glad you came. We picked you to be our winner for a reason. You know, the whole train ride I was planning for it. You're smart, you're intelligent, and you're cute. Don't forget that Erlen." replied Fair Entropy with a giggle and a blush of her own.

"Oh... Oh Fair... I've been admiring everything about you... especially your prettiness... how... how do you do it?" Erlen replied with a stutters and jitters. He still couldn't believe his eyes.

"You know what Erlen? Let's have our own fun time together shall we? I'll go get the tickets right now. Let's get a going now Erlen... to the Caribbane... way out of Equestria... away from your fears... As soon as you say Baby Vamos Erlen... we'll be going." Fair Entropy replied with a saucy look.

All of a sudden, Chemm was shouting from the distance at one of the cars... Erlen tried to sneak a look at Chemm, but he couldn't hear what she was saying... it was barely discernible, but he could tell Chemm was worried about something... Why was she worried? Fair Entropy was the epitome of prettiness and attractiveness.. She was smooth, and she was all of what Erlen wanted... Erlen then proceeded to say it...

"Baby Vamos..."

-----------------------

A sudden thud on Erlen's head by the way awoke him from his dreamy state. What was that all about? Fair Entropy was his dream, and he was going to go for it now! But still... what... was Chemm doing there? It confused him. He quickly dismissed it though, more excited about the train ride he would enjoy sooner than later... It left him smiling as he lay in a relaxed position on his seat as the train continued to chug along...

(Well...let's try and get a conversation going shall we?)

Being in the situation she was in, it was only in Frostbite's best interest to stay on the good side of the ponies around her - after all, who knew who she'd have to con to get back home if things went wrong? So of course, the logical step to take in this situation would be to get to know the ponies around her, before she could get on their good side.

Keeping her eyes lightly on all the activity around her - enough for her to watch ponies without drawing much attention herself - her gaze was eventually caught by one stallion in particular. He entered the train not long after she did, and from the corner of her eye she could see he had taken a seat behind her. Allowing herself the benefit of a smirk before turning around, she made it obvious who she was looking at as she glanced him up and down before leaning over. "I'd have expected it to be busier around this time of year."

(OOC: Sorry I had to srcunch up Erlen's segment. I had so much here already but something happened that caused a deletion...)

@Agent505

@repsol rave

(Does anyone remember Gizmo? Erlen's voice is similar to that, except slightly raspier.)

The train had finally arrived in Canterlot. Erlen was so excited. He had spent a whole night waiting for the train to arrive. He had wonderful dreams about meeting Fair Entropy and he couldn't get enough of everything that was about to happen! After the train arrived, Erlen looked around frantically in search for the Entropy train. He found a sign that beckoned the winners to a journey of their lifetime. Erlen was completely surprised though. How exactly did they get a whole terminal for themselves? Such a course of action was an engineering feat to say the least!

Erlen then noticed two ponies, one who was a cyan mare, and the other who was a brown stallion. He greeted them both, since they looked like nice folk,

"Hey guys. What's up? Did you two win the contest as well?!"

-------------------------

This was it. It was time for the confrontation. She had to be assertive. She had to know now. Why was Erlen avoiding her? Chemm tried to give herself the angriest look she could make on the mirror, but it just couldn't work. She felt a greater sense of sorrow than anger at Erlen. After all, they technically weren't in a relationship yet. Still, she wanted to know Erlen's feelings towards her, so her typical assertive look would do. The slightly lowered eyebrows, her slightly raised voice, and her slight stomping on her feet, were all trademarks of an assertive Chemm. When she was in that state, you didn't want to mess with her.

Chemm left her humble green house that was just beside the hospital where she worked and trudged the other way towards Erlen's place. It was about 8:00am when she did this; after all, she needed to get this done early so she could make it to work at 9:00am. Chemm continually pondered about Erlen in her trip. Did he like her back? Sure she was bossy and outspoken, but Erlen never reacted THAT badly to them. Plus, Erlen helped her, even after all the "hate" she gave to him for being friends with Sterling in their years of rivalry! They were good signs for sure, but Chemm was still frightful. She already had two crushes come to a terrible end in Echo Falls and Manehattan U. She didn't want a third one!

When she arrived at Erlen's red brick house, the first thing she noticed was the note on the red entrance door. She immediately ran to it and read the message... She could only stop and ponder... now her heart was really broken. Erlen went on a trip? Without her? It was hard for Chemm to keep herself from crying, but she had to think first. What if Erlen only got one ticket? That was entirely possible. What if the so-called contest was pure luck and Erlen somehow won? Nonetheless, the fact Erlen left without her didn't hurt her as much as the secrecy Erlen was putting up before the trip. Why was it so hard for Erlen to tell her about the trip? Did he not trust her? All these questions plagued Chemm as she ran back home in tears...

@@Sterling Crimson,

The entitre trainride Repsol was so cought up in his thoughts that if anypony tried to have a conversation with im, he wouldn't have even noticed.

When they arrived in canterlot he had fell asleep, and awoke with a start. He looked around with sleepy eyes and noticed that they where indeed at their destination. he flung his saddlebags onto his back and trotted out of the train.

When he exited the train he was emidiately blinded by the brightness of Canterlot. Celestia's sun was shining bright in the sky and the sunlight reflected of the pure white buildings like a mirror. He stumbled back a bit before rising  a hoof in front of his face. After a few seconds his eyes seemed to have adjusted and he could take a look around.

The ponies from the contest really didn't cheap out on anything. repsol was standing on a private terminal, with only one more pony standing there. This particular pony trotted in his direction when she saw him.

"Hey! Yeah i won too. the name's Repsol Rave, but you can just call me Repsol. Or Rave. Whatever you like."

Repsol smiled at the stallion before sticking out his hoof for a firm shake.

Erlen saw Repsol's outstretched hoof. He seemed friendly enough. Erlen then approached it and gave him a firm shake. Deep inside though, he saw him as competition. He wanted to have Fair Entropy all to himself and nopony would stand in his way. Nevertheless, Erlen would never stoop down so low as to drudge on his competition at their first meeting. He still gave Repsol a friendly smile and asked Repsol with an inquisitive look,

"So... where are you from? I'm from Manehattan, and I just finished medical school."

-----------------

Chemm was alone. All alone. The sunlight shining to greet her by her living room's window didn't mean anything to her. All she cared about was Erlen. The room was dark. Chemm couldn't handle the light; she quickly and angrily closed the cream curtains that welcomed the light. Her room became lifeless. Everything inside was silent. An occasional tapping by the wind and the ticking on the clock were the only sounds present in the room.

Chemm could only wonder. What happened between them to cause such secrecy? Why was Erlen suddenly avoiding her like the plague? It saddened and angered her at the same time. Erlen was easily a lot uglier than her! How dare he assume that she was an ugly mare?! Add to the fact she saw through his appearance, and that would only compound her misery. Chemm then began to speak to herself as she sniffled her tears,

"Erlen... what... what did I ever do to you? Why did you avoid me all week like the plague? Do you... think I'm ugly?" Upon saying this, Chemm felt an anger well up inside, but she still couldn't contain her tears as she began to shout louder in frustration...

"If... if you do, then I can take it like a grown-up mare you know?! I'm... *sniff* I'm not a sissy! I... I can be strong when I want to, and I can easily make myself look *sniff* a lot nicer than you any day of the week! In fact, I... *sniff* I don't need you! I... I *sniff* could have easily let you rot because YOU looked ugly! I've already handled two breakups, and I can easily *sniff* handle a third!" Chemm then realized what she was saying... all the hate was pouring against Erlen... It was too much to bear. Deep down, she knew she didn't mean what she said. She was only shouting in frustration... her tears welled up even more as she continued to speak wearily,

"Oh... *sniff* oh what's the use? I'm in love with him. And... I... I didn't tell him early enough. I *sniff* I should have told him earlier... *sniff* I... I... I was able to go through two heartbreaking separations... Why... *sniff* why can't I do it now? Oh Erlen! Why did you have to be so special to me?! Why does it have to be me?!"

Chemm then took out a picture... a special picture that she could never forget even if she wanted to... It was the picture Sterling took of them dancing in the moonlight... it was a very special moment for Chemm. Yes she had two coltfriends, but neither of them ever danced with her... She remembered that day like it was yesterday... The splashes of water from the calm waterfall, the moonlight shining above them as they danced... the ballroom waltz music that played by the mansion's balcony... It was as if nature sighed in joy at the potential union of the two that night... but it wasn't meant to be. Chemm could only cower in tears as the living room clock struck 9:00 am...

Imagine this piece as Chemm looks at the picture of her dancing with Erlen...

(Okay. Guess not.)

Seeing the empty look in the stallions face, Frostbite decided maybe trying to get a conversation going wasn't her best idea, and decided to pay no attention to him ignoring her, figuring he was probably distracted.

As the train stopped, she combed her hair once with her hoof and stood up, making her way off the train and into the station - the first thing she saw through all the bustling activity was the ornately decorated train in the distance - it may be busy, but nothing escaped her eye if it looked like it was worth money.

She had a while to wait before the train was departing at least, and the train ride here had made her slightly hungry. As she casually wandered around, a few words escaped her mouth "So...I wonder if there's anything to eat around here?"

@@Agent505,

Feather had stayed sat on the bench, watching as two new stallions entered the terminal and appeared to strike up a conversation.

You should go talk to them Quill - meet new ponies! Besides, you're gonna be sharing a train with them for the next two weeks...

Feather shook her head slightly, reluctant to get up and carry her suitcase over just to interrupt two strangers' conversation.

Well you need to make friends somehow, otherwise this is going to be a long trip...

As Feather debated the matter with herself, she looked up to see another pony had entered the terminal - a mare this time; she was pretty, but as she got closer Feather felt a slight chill run down her spine, though she couldn't think why. The mare muttered to herself, and, spotting a chance to make conversation without butting into somepony else's conversation, Feather forced herself to speak up.

"Um, hi." Feather stood up, giving the mare a nervous smile. "Ah, I think there's a store..." Feather glanced about, trying to remember the layout of the station. "Sorry..."she muttered with a slight nervous chuckle as she racked her suddenly blank brain. "Ah...it's that way." she said at last, gesturing confidently with a hoof down past the end of the platform through the door Feather herself had come by.

Why did I do that? Feather groaned internally to herself, even as she continued smiling awkwardly to the stranger. She was obviously talking to herself...

You were being helpful Quill. That's not a crime, so calm down.

It's still weird, Feather  grumbled back at the voice.

Uh...I have no idea what to put here.

@@Ano170,

"Hmm - wha-?" Frostbite called, doing a double take to where the voice originated. Seeing a fairly dark blue pegasus mare smaller than herself - which was impressive in itself, considering how small she was.

"Oh I...thank you" she smiled, nodding to emphasise her gratitude. "Feel like joining me for a bite to eat miss...?" she left the sentence hanging as she waited for the mare's reply.

@@Agent505,

(OOC: I think this'll have to be my last post for tonight, sadly :( ).

Feather was surprised at the invitation, though she tried not to show it. "Ah..alright." she said after a moment, then remembering her manners, "That is, yes please."

I'm trying to make friends after all, aren't I?

Thinking back over what the mare had said, Feather realised she had probably been asking for a name. "Feather, by the way." She gave the unicorn a slight nod. "Feather Quill."
