Solar Kingdom: Breifing

The screen flickers, and a large shield appears in front of your eyes. You instantly recognize it as the Solar Kingdom emblem, with the hot fiery colors of orange and red, Celestia's cutie mark of the sun printed directly in the center.

Below the shield reads "SOLAR KINGDOM".

A blue map appears on the screen, and a masculine voice could be heard from the computer speakers. "Here is our current situation and your orders for deployment, effective immediately."

"Admiral Runedust, now newly appointed General of the Army, led a fleet of Solar troops and heavily damaged Appleloosa, an essential supply base for the Lunar Republic. During the raid, we captured two out of three high ranking officers. These include Brigadier General Fluttershy, of the Lunar Air Force, and Major General Rarity of the Lunar Mages."

"However, before an effective interrogation could be held, the Solar outpost was attacked by a fleet of Lunar troops, led by Sergeant Sunrise Song. Assisted by Lieutenant Strong Hooves, the enemy troops rescued the officers before reinforcements could arrive in time."

"Also, Brigadier General Rainbow Dash is missing in action. Nopony has seen General Dash, but reports say that she may have flew away from Canterlot HQ."

"You may pick one of two missions."

Mission 1: Provide reinforcement for Appleloosa, as it will be likely that the Lunar Republic will attempt to re-capture the town.

Mission 2: Aid in the search for General Dash, and provide support if you are engaged in combat."

"Choose wisely before picking your mission. A single soldier could be the difference between a success, or a failure."

Lunar Republic: Briefing

"Alright! Settle down people!" A stallion cries over the clamor in the briefing room. He punches in a few keys, and a projector is then switched on, portraying his computer screen to the front of the room.

"It's a grave situation for all of us right now. Let's just get this briefing started."

The Lunar Republic emblem flashes on-screen, showing the shield depicting the night sky and it's stars, with a small crescent moon near the top of the shield.

As the screen changes, a blue map is displayed, and a masculine voice is heard from the speakers.

"Appleloosa has been attacked by the Solar Kingdom, destroying many buildings and killing countless civillians. Admiral Runedust was the one who led, and initiated the attack. He is extremely dangerous."

"Scout reports say that the Solar Kingdom is moving reinforcements to Appleloosa. We believe this is an attempt to guard the base in the event of an attack from our troops. However, we have a different plan up our sleeve."

"We will need one small troop to attack Appleloosa, and provide as a distraction. During the attack, a troop of pegesi will be closing in to attack Cloudsdale, now used as a barracks and training ground for the Solar Air Force. The base will be filled with both recruits, armored guards, and civilians. It is your choice whether or not to attack the civilians."

"We have also recently captured Brigadier General Rainbow Dash. Princess Luna will be leaving shortly to interrogate this prisoner, and will need an escort to take her there safely."

"Move out and complete one of three missions."

Mission 1: Attack Appleloosa with a small troop to distract the Solar troops

Bonus: We believe that the Solar Kingdom may have sensitive information from the raid on Appleloosa. Find and retrieve this information. If unable to retrieve, destroy it.

Mission 2 (Only pegsi): Attack Cloudsdale, and inflict a heavy blow on the Solar Kingdom's Air Force.

Mission 3: Provide escort for Princess Luna to interrogate General Dash, and eliminate any enemies you encounter."

Twilight galloped by guards towards Pinkie "Pinkie!" "yes Twilight?" "any news on the search party for Rainbow Dash" "well we gathered more ponies to look for her" Twilight sighed "any good news?" "well they said that they captured Rarity and Fluttershy and with any luck they'll be in Canterlot ready for interrogation" "that's it!" "what's it?" "isn't it obvious? the Lunar Republic has Rainbow Dash and they're going to interrogate her!" "why would they do that?" Twilight gave her a glare "ooohh" Twilight face-hoofed "and there's only one place where she can be, the mountain"

[Strong Hooves 289]

Strong Hooves stood up after the briefing, trotting to Luna's quarters brandishing his armor and his battle hammer known as Little Wrecker slung on his back. He held the document acquired by Snow, intending on requesting an audience with the other high ranking officials to discuss future attack plans that will help with their cause. He rached Luna's door, with a quick knock he called, "Your highness, I am here as your escort to interrogate General Rainbow Dash, I am ready to leave when you are."

Rainbow stayed in her cell, refusing to talk, she felt a small scent of pride whenever somepony gave up and left, she looked out the cell window and tried to think of a plan to escape

[Sunrise Song 14]

The flight back to Dragon Mountain seemed to take longer than it had any previous times. It could have been attributed to the knowledge of the loss of a stronghold in Lunarian territory, or that so many innocent ponies in Appleloosa had been killed just because they were on the wrong side of a border. It possibly had to do with the simple that that he and Lieutenant General Fluttershy hadn't said more than four words to each other since returning to the relatively safe haven of the Everfree Forest.

 

I need to break this silence. Going in front of Nightmare Moon and reporting our failure is going to be difficult enough--not knowing if Fluttershy will be supporting me? I don't know if I could handle that. "General Fluttershy, ma'am...permission to speak?"

 

"If you must, Sergeant. I'm quite tired, and not looking forward to this debrief."

 

"Can I trust you to vouch for me, ma'am?

 

"I guess you have no choice, Mr. Song. We will both have to face Nightmare Moon together." Her tone was quiet, very...un-Fluttershy. I was right...she's not used to this whole war thing. She's slowly becoming a different pony, and I somehow doubt she'll ever be the same.

 

The two pegasi glided from the deep of the thicket to ascend to the entrance of Dragon Mountain...and a very unhappy alicorn waiting inside.

 

~Fifteen Minutes Later~

 

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN, you allowed Appleloosa to fall?!? You foals!" the stinging words of Nightmare Moon came out, as she stomped her hooves onto the floor below her, angry and infuriated with her soldiers.

 

"Your Majesty, let me explain...we had planned on repelling the Solarian troops, but..." Rarity started, trying to explain the suddenness of the incident to the Dark Mare.

 

"Does this appear to be a caring face to you, Brigadier General?"

 

"No, Your Majesty. Perhaps you would care for a hoof-icure? It would help with..."

 

An icy cold look came from the eyes of the mare on the throne, and the words seemed to stop short out of Rarity's mouth.

 

"your...stress..."

 

 

"What would make me happy is to have Canterlot on fire. So, what do I get? I send out my most skilled soldiers in this army of mine...and they're unable to even secure one little installation that only might be what the enemy needs to start a full-scale invasion of Lunarian territory." Nightmare Moon rubbed her forehead, moving her black crown to the side.

 

"The fault is mine, Your Majesty. It was foolish of us to not take more troops with us to Appleloosa when we left. We were also expecting more support from the ponies living there."

 

"Your Majesty, may I speak?"

 

The room seemed to fill with an icy chill as Nightmare Moon's gaze went from Fluttershy to Sunrise. Her eyes narrowed to a fine slit, making her displeasure with the pegasus known all too well.

 

"You. You have earned no standing in my eyes, Sergeant. I am quite curious as to why you're even in here."

 

"My apologies, Your Majesty. I did not wish to be standing outside while you questioned Fluttershy and Rarity."

 

"What I do should not concern you in the very least. You're lucky to still be breathing at this moment...because I am quite angry at the moment and want to wring the neck of a Solarian...very slowly."

 

"Your Majesty, I would like to propose a counter-strike in Solarian territory, specifically Cloudesdale."

 

The alicorn blinked, and proceeded to use her magic to draw Sunny close to the throne. "I'm going to give you thirty words. If you do not impress me or prove to me that you're little more than a waste of my time, you will be executed right here and right now. Speak."

 

Her words were a whisper, dangerous, and the intent of taking his life was all too real. He took in a deep breath, and talked to the ruler of the Lunar Kingdom.

 

 

"Those that died in Appleloosa should not perish in vain. The Solarians need to be taught a lesson: that our borders are sovereign and we will defend them with prejudice."

 

The throne room was quiet for a while after that, Nightmare Moon having gotten off of the throne and circling Sunrise Song. Nopony said a word as she silently tried to figure out how loyal this Sergeant was. After about four rotations, she broke her step and put her eyes right near those of Sunrise.

 

"Report to Fluttershy as soon as I'm done with her. For now, you're dismissed."

 

"Yes, Your Majesty."

 

With that, Sunrise turned around and left the throne room as fast as his hooves could take him, exiting and finding General Macintosh waiting for him outside.

Toothless flew around the outside of Canterlot, drawing mindless circles in the air. "This seems all too fast..." He thought. "It's still hard to believe that the Solar Kingdom destroyed Appleloosa..."

 

Quiet chatter was picked up by Toothless's ears as he looked downward to see Pinkie Pie and Twilight Sparkle conversation. He hated to eavesdrop, but it was so easy NOT to. As he listened in, he realized they were talking about Rainbow Dash.

 

"That's it!" Twilight suddenly exclaimed. She continued, saying that Rainbow Dash could only be at Dragon's Mountain. An alarm went off inside Toothless's head. He then swooped down and landed quietly on the balcony the two officers were standing.

 

"Permission to speak?"

As Strong Hooves knocked at the door, an officer standing by the entrance spoke to him. "I wouldn't go in if I were you. She's quite angry."

 

"But, since you're here, the Princess will be leaving soon. It won't be long until she will be leaving."

Strong nodded, "Understood, I see how this loss has been quite stressful to her, but I believe I have a solution that could cause a greater blow to the Solar ponies"

The officer cocked his head, confused. "What are you trying to say? You have an idea?"

"Toothless?ehh...permission granted" Twilight glared at him for a second before returning to her formal pose

Strong smiled and showed a folder of documents, "Better, I have vital information that could cripple their empire"

George was currently checking his equipment. On the table in front of him were scalpels, band aids and various other utensils to help or destroy a pony. He was pretty concentrated right now, removing various liquids from them. They have been obviously used before, but for what purpose was not clear. He re-adjusted his glasses from times to times, it was one of his better habits. He was waiting for either an interruption or an assignment.

Haste landed with Draco in the streets of ponyville, still panting for air of their trip from Appleloooooooooosa to Ponyville, "ya'h think we should head for Canterlot?" Haste asked "no, we should rest and we should check for any signs of attack from the Lunar Republic" Draco responded "good, I'm gonna take aerial view..." She flew towards a cloud *I guess I'll take the Everfree then...* he wandered into the woods and climbed a tree, making sure he wasn't visible

Phoenix Ember had been sitting back patiently, having allowed the pegasus mare inside of the cell to wear herself out rather than take the time to actually injure her. What's taking those two? Fluttershy and Rarity came back almost thirty minutes ago...I would figure the first place that they would prefer to come is down here to the dungeon and see the prisoner personally to interrogate her.

As Strong spoke, a yellow stallion burst out of the throne room, almost crashing into him and the officer standing beside the door. The officer, unnerved by the sudden commotion, motioned to the door.

 

"Looks like she's ready to go. Be careful though; one wrong word and she'll snap your neck in an instant."

 

Nightmare Moon repositioned herself on her grand chair, as if to regain her composure. She then put a royal smile and faced Strong Hooves.

 

"Yes?"

Strong gave a respectful bow before addrressing Luna, "Your Highness, I am Leutaniant Strong Hooves and I am here as your escort for the interrogation of general Rainbow Dash, I am ready to go whenever you are Your Highness"

A soldier suddenly knocked at the door. The private straightened out his uniform and took a breath, not wanting to make a bad impression on a high-ranking officer. Using his unicorn magic, he levitated a wooden box and a piece of paper lying on the lid.

 

George heard the knock, even though he was busy he still went to the door and opened it. "Yes Private?" he would then ask the Unicorn in front of him, eyeing the box. "Prob' just a delivery or somethin'" he thought to himself. He waited for the Private to speak.

The private cleared his throat, feeling it suddenly becoming dry and contracted. "Delivery of potions from Staff Sergant Zecora. She included the tree-frog poisons you requested for." The private cleared his voice once again.

 

"Also, assignments have been ordered. I scribbled a list down."

 

On the piece of paper, scrawled in poor, but legible handwriting, read, "Attack on Appleloosa as a distraction. Attack on Cloudsdale for pegsi only. Escort Princess Luna to interrogate Rainbow Dash".

"Ah yes, thank you. ", he took both the box and the list, "Anything else?" he then asked as he went inside to place down the box carefully.

 

He already grinned at the thought of what he can do with the poison and how well it mixes with poison joake to create a very powerful weapon. If somepony got it into their bloodstream they are certain to die, first being crippled by the tree-frog before then being transformed by the joake from which you never get back to normal. It serves as a way to scare the others away, who would want to have the same fate?

"I don't believe attacking Dragon Mountain is a good idea General. We already suffered from one attack on the Mountain, and that led up to Solus's death."

 

Toothless closed his eyes, shaking away his guilt. "Please reconsider our options."

[Legendary Emerald 622]

The Lunar Republic briefing had ended, leaving one unicorn with a firm resolve and a fire in her heart.

 

For Celosia 'Serah' Anastos, the Equestrian Civil War had been the opportunity of a lifetime. All her life, she had privately trained herself to wield the powerful flames that were represented on her flank, in the hopes of putting them to good use one day. Even before she had decided to join a side in the conflict, she knew she would be involving herself in it.

 

She was not native to Equestria, instead hailing from the far off peninsula of New Brousse, which had never been formally recognized as part of the Equestrian Kingdom for various political and religious reasons. When she had fled from her homeland, she'd by chance found herself in Manehatten on the day that Civil War was to be declared. She had thought her heritage might hinder her ability to join either side of the conflict, but both parties turned out to be more than eager to accept able-bodied colts and mares willing to get their hooves dirty.

 

Though her first thoughts went towards the Solar Kingdom, due to her own particular affinity with heat and light, the message of the Lunar Republic spoke truer to her heart. In her homeland, she had learned what oppression and blind dogma could do to a pony. Nightmare Moon wanted to change the status quo, a noble cause no matter the inhumane means used to accomplish it. After all, the Solar Kingdom wasn't full of saints itself, as the ruins of Applesoosa on screen had shown. Those images had also decided for her where she was to be deployed.

 

Sera joined the other ponies headed towards the once beautiful and quaint town, her heart beating rapidly in her chest, but her face betraying no emotion. This would be her first mission on the front lines of battle, as opposed to earlier when she had been stuck as a support unit just because of her race. She'd argued endlessly with her higher-ups that the fire she had inside of her was just as useful as any blade, and had finally been given this one chance to prove herself.

 

She stomped a hoof down unconsciously, heat and steam rising from the ground. She would not let herself down.
