Did anyone else notice in Equestria Girls Princess Luna tells Twilight that the mirror portal only opens once every 30 moons. and if Twilight doesn't hurry she will be trapped in an alternate reality. buuuttt.....

A moon is most likely a unit of measurement, and I don't think it's actually tied to the movement of the moon. I think, regardless of what Luna does with the moon, the portal will still remain closed for 2-3 years or however long "30 moons" is in Equestria's world.

I wasn't thinking of it as a time related thing i was thinking the portal responded to the moon itself. i was interpreting it as positioning, phase, and light intensity triggered the opening of the portal. But if its purely time dependent then yeah you guys are right.

I don't think that Luna would still be able to control the moon in the other parallel universe '' the human universe.'' The portal is basically based on something non-related to the moon.

"Moons" is a way to measure time.

So I guess Luna can't control time, since she's been stuck on the moon for 1000 years lol.

A moon is a month, so far as I remember, due to the lunar cycle of the moon each month. So though she does control the movement of it it was being regarded as a time thing. I haven't seen the film; she has an old-fashioned way of speaking, however, likely why she chose that terminology. Maybe a bit of a pun too.

I have too much time on my hands, considering one moon cycle is 29.53 days(what i keep finding online could be wrong) she would be stuck there 885.9 days which is almist 2.5 years thats based on our knowledge of our own moon equestria can be different, this is also assuming one is a full lunar cycle, i could be wrong on any if this
