So besides its all fan made, why so much hate on derpy being dinkys mother? I mean look at the sheer level of emotion that comes from the art and fics ponies do. Isn't this a fandom of understanding and acceptance. Frankly this level of emotion is lax in the cannon. I mean are the haters really that flank hurt over somepony differnt having a stable job and a loving daughter. Or is it they just like to point out the bleeding obvious that it is not cannon...come on, I mean....really? You pick this topic to hate? Before you answer, recall that Mr. and Mrs. Cakes' children are Unicorn and Pegasi, correspondingly, despite the fact that both their parents are Earth Ponies. If you're interested how it is possible, I can explain it in another thread, since I've done a thorough analysis of pony genetics after watching that episode. It has some intriguing implications too, because it shows that there's something special in Mr. and Mrs. Cakes. Maybe the same specialty is in the case of Derpy?

I'm not sure if you're aware of the joke that Mrs.Cake cheated on her husband with an Alicorn. A little dark for MLP I know, but funny as hell.

Derpy is Pegasus, Doctor is earth (Unless you count the time he was a Pegasus for a while). It doesn't match up.

Tell me do you often visit women who are poor or say have one eye or live in a bad neighborhood or even said women who are single mothers that work 3 jobs to just give there child everything? I enjoy fan interpretations of Derpy being Dinky's mom. It's pretty damn adorable. But I also understand how some people believe that someone with double strabismus wouldn't be able to hold a job for very long, or be very responsible. What sort of example would Derpy set for Dinky if she's constantly knocking into or breaking things?

The op is CLEARLY pissed off about why some people might not like Derpy as Dinky's mother but not giving much reasoning on what they've heard about the reasoning WHY that is. I guess why ask us? If haters dislike that relationship then you know the reasons why ...why come to mlp forums and vent?

 

I never thought that Derpy seemed like she would be a natural mom and if she's doing it alone (and doing a bad job at work) then that's not the optimal situation. That's why fannon differs fromeach other. 

 

I guess I have to wonder why the op is the only one flaming and venting in here while the rest of us are perplexed and chilling. Did you make bad fannon that people didn't like and people just called you on how sloppily made it was? Is that what this all stems from? That could be a completely different issue.

Here are some reasons I think some of the members of the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fandom dislike Derpy Hooves being Dinky's mother:

 

• They dislike Dinky Doo
• They dislike background characters
• There isn't enough evidence to support the theory
• They dislike fanon mother-daughter relationships between ponies
• They prefer the idea of them being sisters
• They dislike Derpy Hooves
• They prefer the idea of them not being related
• They don't like fanon relationships between background ponies

Again OP if haters flamed your fannon creation take it up with the haters and ask why. Derpy IS a popular character so that's not the problem. People are entitled to be upset if you did a bad job of making your own fannon that doesn't meet what people want or expect. No need to rage or flame on our fine forum if you can't figure that out.

Sorry OP but this really feels like a vent when I read your first post.

 

Everyone is entitled to like or dislike certain aspects of what could be considered canon or fanon. I myself don't care either way about Derpy being a mother because it bears so little impact on the series as a whole.

 

You're entitled to your opinion that Derpy would make a great mother but so are the people who think otherwise.

And in the Sister hooves social episode she is shown with a different sister/family.

 

There is also a mini derpy or derpy child in the episode the cutie pox with the other school kids. Sadly I like to stick to cannon, but I do love the Derpy whooves fan stuff ! (hes basically cannon though right? he has cards and all :x)

The simple issue is NOT over the character of Dinky or Derpy, its the leg jerk reaction. Listen, i am a grown man i can read between the lines. You see a blonde stupid chick with a kid and no man around or in her life and you go "well dumb so and so got herself knocked up" and you dismiss her. 

 

And all this "fannon" crap is really a poor shield you guys are using to the real issue here. I made NOTHING, I have no skill in art or the written word, and have a horrible voice, I stated, if you care to read past the "omgz" that i was part of a Podcast talking about MLP and how nearly every one on the Cast was screaming at the thought of Derpy being a Mother.

 

I will admit..I was harsh and wrong to cast blame here, for that I apologies. But the jerk reaction is still there.

But for one-final-time, this is not the issue of Derpy or Dinky, or them being Mother and Daughter, It is the FAN-BASE's reactions to it. I remind you, It isnt cannon, WE made it up, so why are WE hating OUR own ideas?
