Monkshood, deep in thought, jumped at Pelate's sudden reaction. He admitted with a frazzled look upon his face, "Greetings again Pelate. I'm sorry, but what are you going on about with Ceres? I apologize again, but I don't know what your talking about. I thought I had agitated you for leaving you alone during the camp-fire".

Hoping nopony would notice, he began to push his bag and mixture back underneath the bedding. The last thing he wanted was to be answering more questions.

Pelate raised an eyebrow. "No I'm not mad." Prelate thought about his question "uhm, I just thought about what she said to me at the camp fire, and I have the felling that she was right" Pelate says shrugging.

"I'm trying to forget about it, but I think I may be up all night, Pelate looks out he window at the next door cabin, it was lit and empty. "I have the felling I have to talk to Ceres about this night tomorrow. Then it'll be over, I just want this night to be forgotten" Pelate says swiping his hoof to the left, "I never wanted to go through this and I don't want to remember it."

"I don't know what she said to you, but don't let it torment you", Monkshood spoke in a caring tone. Staring at the stallion's face, it looked tormented wracked with sorrow and guilt. His mind wandered curious on what upset Pelate so much. "Whilst I am not able to help you overcome your emotions, I will tell you that if you need me, I will try to help you to the best of my ability. You showed me the same kindness earlier, and I wish to try and reciprocate such generosity", he nodded his head in an effort to show a sense of sincerity towards his own statement.

Stepping away from Pelate to let him be alone, Monkshood began to walk over to the bunk which housed the white pegsus' resting body. "I'm sorry, but do I know you?", he stated slightly confused. "I don't believe we've met, yet you've heard of me. Would it be too brash ask you, who exactly are you?", speaking with a sigh.

Pelate laid down onto his pillow, he covered his head into his sheets "if I hear any snoring there will be one less pony in this cabin, I'm a stallion of my word" Pelate said jokingly, and he tried to fall asleep, but his thought just kept him up, it was like trying to sleep in the buzz of a large crowd of ponies. 'This is going to be a long night....' He thought.

"Parso, Parso Incendiare...or whatever's left of that name. I know who you are from overhearing conversations. you're a plant bloke, right?"

Parso didn't move out of his comfortable position and kept his eyes closed, he just assumed that Monkshood was listening to him

Monkshood rolled his eyes, Ceres must of had blurted out something about him. "I guess you could call me a 'plant bloke' if you wanted to, but only if you don't mind me naming you nothing more then the red-hatted individual", an exasperated sigh escaped from his mouth.

@,

'I'm so confused right now...'

There was no hope of her figuring this situation out, not out under the moonlight with Ceres watching her anyway - she couldn't this properly like that at all. "I thought you... that..." Mind blank and lost for words, Wish followed the only course of action that still made sense: retreat.

"I uh, I... I think that's enough fresh air for tonight." Wish said in an obviously forced casual tone. "We should, uhm, head back..."

'What am I supposed to do?!'

"Huh, your interested in my work? Curious, many would rather wait till their ill before coming to me", initially stating clearly as he slowly began to mumble off the rest. @,

Ceres put both hooves to her muzzle in a desperate attempt to muffle her laughing.  It failed.  Her giggle quickly grew into a volumous laughter, tears rolling down her cheeks.  After a few moments, Ceres took a few deep breaths and wiped the tears from out of her face.  "Oh my... Wish you really are something you know that?"

Ceres almost lost herself in another bout of laughter.  'No!  This is bad... funny.. but bad!  I need to be serious!  But... it's so hard...'

Ceres finally calmed herself and placed a comforting hoof on Wish's shoulder, careful to avoid any contact that could be misconstrued.  "Wish, I might think you're attractive, and I might be into mares and stallions alike.  But that doesn't mean that your not my friend."

Ceres withdrew the hoof and scratched her chin with it idly.  "Although... you are fun to tease.  And I really wouldn't mind if... Well lets not get ahead of ourselves shall we?"

Ceres nodded in the air, towards nothing in particular.  Affirming some point to herself that only she could ever understand.  Ceres turned back to Wish and smiled comfortingly.  "But you do have a point.  Let's head back to the cabins and get some sleep."

Ceres walked her way over to the cabins, walking inside and hopping onto her bed.  She turned and gave both Wish and Evergreen a quiet, "Goodnight," before heading beneath her covers and passing out, a small smile played on her face.

Monkshood began to pull out a clear jar from underneath his bunk. Within the jar, it contained a green sludge like mixture of what was once various plant-life. He slid the jar along snuffing out all the lighting and closing the blinds, until the room was pitch black. "I've worked with plants my entire life, yet where I differed from my predecessor's is, I always found a sense of artistry within the natural world. If you wish to label me, I work as an Apothecary, yet I find my interests often shift towards more personal endeavours", he puffed with pride.

Clasping the jar, he began to shake it. It sloshed around the empty space within the jar. Slowly, the sludge within began to glow with a brilliant yet soft emerald light. The darkened building slowly began to regain its shape as the light cast odd shadows across the room. Stating in an almost excitable voice, "whilst this is just a simple concoction, it still retains some show of craftsmanship would you not agree Parso"?

"whoa....."

Parso said in a gasp-like breath as he watched the green concoction glow through the cabin

"its like one of them glowsticks you see in DJ PON-3 concerts. but bigger!"

Parso was greatly amused by the sight of what had happened, before letting out a yawn

"jeez, I'm beat, time for some shut-eye"

@,

"Hey!" Mumbled Wish on re-entry to the cabin, making her way over to her bed and hurling herself onto it: happy for the comfort after a long day. "G'night." She said, rolling onto her side and pulling the sheets up over her.

'Is it like this everywhere else in Equestria? Everypony hiding behind fancy words and making things more complicated than they need to be? At least I know that I've got friends here: I'll figure the rest out when I'm not... so...'

She never finished that particular line of thought.

His face contorted with a look of sudden disapproval, "A GLOW STICK!!!! He has the audacity to compare one of my creations to something as paltry as a glow-stick". Monkshood grudgingly shrugged it off, now was not the time for such proclivities. The night would not last forever, and he still had work to do.

At a near manic pace, he filled his saddlebag back up hoisting it on to his side with his 'lantern' positioned in the bag so it would illuminate the forest around him. He anxiously left the cabin, slamming the door shut behind himself as he began to skilfully navigate his way through the forest.

Monkshood traced the path that he and Ceres had followed earlier. Shortly, he arrived at the grotto within glowed a violet light. He was shocked at the sight. "My my, Viola does indeed glow under the night sky. I had my doubts, but this is unbelievable",  he thought, still ever cautious of Ceres' intentions.

Opening up his bag, he pulled out a journal and a quill as he began to meticulously examine the plant. Grabbing the spores and uprooting one of them, his time was short tonight. If he could he would return, yet the staff probably did not look fondly upon campers sneaking out in the middle of the night.

As Monkshood finished his initial examination he penned the plant's classification in to his journal, Viola Clotho.  Increasingly as time went on, he began to feel his drowsiness overtake him. Finally he gave in, falling asleep in the middle of Viola's grove.

The morning bell rang as celestias sun arose revealing a beautiful light blue sky.

Pelate layer awake all night his eye twitched at the fact he got only 1 hour of sleep, "why?..." Pelate murmured. He flopped from his bed and trotted out of the cabin almost collapsing a couple if times. He trotted into the lodge and sat in one of the seats inside the canteen. He lays his head into the table, he ran his hoof through his scraggly tangled mane. "I hate mornings..." He mumbled.

Upon hearing the infernal noise of a bell, Ceres threw a pillow at the window, which landed on the floor with an unceremonious thump.  She yelled, "NO!"

Ceres pulled the covers over her head and curled up, mumbling in her sleep.  "I don't want to go to the party, just let me stay home..."

When the alarm rang, Wish was already wide awake: she had been up since dawn, trying to occupy her mind from its idle wandering by examining the map of Equestria she carried in her bags. She had done so hundreds if times, but it was familiar and made her feel at ease.

At least until her friend shouted and launched a pillow across the cabin.

@,

"Huh? Ceres, are you okay?" She asked urgently, sitting bolt upright. "You might need that pillow if you're trying to sleep..."

"Mmm?"  Hearing Wish's voice slowly brought Ceres to consciousness.  Peeling back the blanket, she stretched out her forelegs, yawning loudly.  Ceres wiped her eyes and looked over to her right, where Evergreen lay asleep and Wish was sitting up on her bed wide awake.  "How can you be up so easily in the morning?"

Ceres took a few minutes to wake herself up, blankly staring at the wall.  Blinking a few times, her head finally cleared of much of the grogginess that came with the morning.  She looked over across the cabin and smirked.  "Not a bad way to wake up, though I would prefer a more intimate setting..."

Chuckling, Ceres gave Wish a playful wink and started to make her bed for the day, retrieving her pillow from the floor.

Wish smiled sheepishly at the gesture, still unsure how she was supposed to react - instead deciding that answering the first question was a safer course of action.

"Huh? I've been awake for ages! You never know what might need doing early in the morning."

She shrugged and continued to grin sheepishly, starting to pack away her things: she hadn't exactly been doing anything important - it was more by habit than design that she was awake so early.

"Want to get some breakfast or something?" She asked cheerfully.

Ceres shrugged.  "Sure, we should probably invite Evergreen though..."

Her eyes glinting mischievously, she put a hoof to her lips, silently making her way over to where Evergreen lay asleep.  Carefully bringing her muzzle as close as possible to Evergreen's ear without her noticing, Ceres took in a breath, the hairs on Evergreen's ear ruffling slightly with the movement.  Ceres whispered, in a sweet seductive voice.  "Evergreeeen.  Wake up honey bun, breakfast is waiting..."

Smirking Ceres pulled back and waited to watch the sparks fly, hoping of course that sparks would indeed fly in a metaphorical way.

(Begin Dream Sequence)

Glancing around, Monkshood noticed he was standing on a central road in a small village. On the left side, the land and housing was neatly maintained almost possessing a mechanical nature to it. Conversely on the right, everything was overgrown, craggy and wild. Queer, he had never quite seen a village like this, regardless why was he here? What did he hope to accomplish? Quickly, he shrugged it off it was probably for work, it was always for work.

Monkshood sniffed the air, a pleasantly-sweet scent wafted through the area. He raised his muzzle up, hoping to re-evaluate the odour. He knew the smell. It was something so recognizable to him, and suddenly it struck him what it was. One of his favourite foods from childhood, freshly caramelized apples with a touch of cinnamon on the side.

Monkshood decided it was best to focus on such trivialities later as he was getting hungrier by the moment, and could not recall when he had last eaten anything. He raised his nose back into the air once more as he decided the smell was coming from the centre of this ramshackle village. Trotting towards the area, two curious ponies walk along the same road. One swerved between the centre and the left constantly, whilst the other merely followed closely by him.

Soon Monkshood approached what appeared to be a small coffee-house. Taking a seat outside a waiter, wearing a noticeably crimson waistcoat, approached him. "Ah, Monkshood so nice to see you again. Will it be your usual again", the waiter cheerfully said. Confused, he responded with a simple nod of the head.

The food soon arrived, and it was exactly what he had smelled earlier, bits of caramelized apples with cinnamon. Without hesitation, he began to shovel into his mouth. Strange it tasted more floral then last recalled. He began to chew the food, ever slowly as....

(End Dream Sequence)

Monkshood awoke, groggy, to find himself within Viola's grove with his mouth containing the petal of one of its many flowers. Quickly, he spat them out in repulsion, it tasted horrendous. No matter how hungry he was, eating Viola was definitely out of the question. Glancing upwards, he saw the sun had begun to make its ascent toward its apex. It was definitely time to return to the camp-grounds, lest he wanted trouble from the staff. Gathering his supplies, emptying his lantern jar, and strapping on his saddlebag, he left the grove.
