Solar Sentinel

Solar was memorized by the offer. All he could do is nod his head in agreement. His face was a bright shade of red. His wings still in the upright position. As he inched in ever closer to the mare he was trying to think of what to say.  "I...I think I love you..." he barely got out before kissing her again.

She smiled, blushed, and accepted the kiss, but when it ended she grinned nervously and said, "Well...we've only just met...let's not go too fast." She paused for a moment, to let the thought seep into her mind. "But y'know what? Between us...I think I'd be happy to get to that point...love." She once again pecked him on the cheek, and sighed, "Perhaps we should move along, now?"

'Door's blocked Scribe. Do something - quickly.'

 

The stallion felt Storm press up against him: he briefly wrapped a foreleg around her reassuringly and tried to look for another way out: no matter where he looked though, the door was the only way.

 

"Stay close!" He shouted as he started to lead the mare towards the blocked door, eyes upwards and weaving to avoid the worst of the crumbling apparatus.

 

"I can boost you over, I think." He explained loudly as he drew closer.

"I would love...like that alot,"He said as he got up off the couch and put his helmet back on. "We better go see what the others are up to." He extended a hoof to help Cherry get off the couch.  "So, if I might ask, where have you been staying since you left Vanhoover? Have you been anywhere interesting?"

She took his hoof, and they began walking back down the hall, "Well...I was still leaving Vanhoover when I got the invitation...and I do love a party...so I just figured it'd be somewhere to go, something to do. And...well, something good has come out of it so far. I've met you." She chuckled.

"Heh, it's just some old place - how bad can it be?" The mare asked rhetorically as she debated silently which direction to take, deciding finally in the stairs: she hadn't finished exploring up there earlier. "I mean yeah, trapped here against our will by a stranger we may or may not have ever met but still, it's just an old house with too many rooms. I've not seen anything particularly nasty, have you?"

 

Blaze lifted himself off the ground and lazily followed Wish up the stairs. At the mention of seeing anything nasty, the stallion scoffed and mumbled, "Not yet." He could tell that although he had physically calmed down, his eyes weren't darting around and his knees didn't feel weak, he was still mentally having trouble. He couldn't think of any reasonable scenarios, only the

 

worst

 

possible

 

things!

Looking back to ensure Blaze was following, Wish held back for a moment for him to catch up.

"What... do you think there might be something bad about to happen? That something might be lurking in here with us, watching us, waiting for the right moment to pounce...?" She asked, her voice gradually changing from mild curiosity to fear as the analogy went on. "Uhm... don't go too far away..."

Storm gave a slight blush as the stallion actually offered to help her, yet not himself. She looked at Scribe, smiling, and took him up on his offer to boost her up. When she reached the top of the hurdle, she extended a hoof to the stallion assuringly.

'Good job... you're an idiot.'

Pushing the pegasus up onto the crude platform, Scribe glanced around, suddenly realizing the flaw in his plan: he couldn't fly. Thankfully, she seemed to have noticed this before him and as offering a hoof to help.

 

Taking a few steps back, he made a short run up and jumped up, catching her hoof with his own and using his momentum to compensate for the weight of his armor.

 

"Why..." He grunted as he caught his back hooves against the hurdle and used them to push against it and lift himself further. "... was a supporting rope sticking out of the ground?!"

@Thinkin' Inks,   Looking back to ensure Blaze was following, Wish held back for a moment for him to catch up. "What... do you think there might be something bad about to happen? Blaze mentally scolded himself for thinking negatively and radiating it to Wish. "Trust me, I won't." For some reason, the sentence came out odd sounding from what Blaze wanted it to sound like. He blew it off as nothing and continued to follow the light grey mare. "Sooo... you're from Trottingham right? Or at least the outskirts? I'm surprised I never saw you."

Storm gave a wink to the stallion. "Probably it's holding the whole room together! Now, watch me do some unicorn magic myself and bust us out of here!" Storm then gave a slight grunt as she pushed over the hurdle using her wing to fit in the small gap between their escape and the hurdle.

 

Storm hopped onto the ground and trotted out the door. "Thanks for boosting me up back there! We wouldn'tve gotten out of that deathtrap if you didn't!" Storm smiled, kissing the stallion on the cheek and trotting down the hall as if nothing happened.

"Did she... Did you..." Scribe gawped, thankfully out of earshot of the mare before shaking his head in an attempt to regain some of his senses. "... and there's she goes again... happy as a filly on nightmare night."

 

Trotting dutifully along after her, he stumbled over his own hooves a little at the pace but managed to catch up.

 

"Hey, hold on! How's your wing?"

"Well I didn't really get off the farm much: my parents didn't like me going into town alone, said it was dangerous." Wish reasoned. "Then Scribe left and I didn't go there at all. So it's not such a surprise I guess - I was pretty sheltered until I left to go find him a few years ago... and I've been on the road ever since then."

 

She grinned at the end of her tale.

 

"I prefer the outdoors over big cities anyway. There's so much more to discover!"

Frost decided to get up and explore. Just sitting there made him feel exposed, so he got up and began to walk. He looked around in awe. "This place is like a giant web of halls and passage ways." he thought not paying attention to we're he was going. As he rounded a corner and looked down from the ceiling he was almost face to face with a mare. "SWEET CELESTIA ABOVE!" he shrieked as he lost his balance and fell to the floor.

Storm gazed down at the stallion who just fell to the floor. "It's okay; I'm just a mare, not Discord, not Queen Chrsyalis.. Calm down!" Storm laughed, giving the stallion a hoof to help him up. "I'm Storm!" The white mare said pridefully, grinning at the stallion. "Don't worry, I don't bite."

Speeding up to ensure nothing else had decided to dislodge itself on fall on the excitable mare, Scribe skidded to a halt as he saw Frost up ahead.

 

"Oh, hey Frost." He said with a sense of relief on finding a distinct lack of danger. "Decided to come exploring after all?"

He shrugged, looking to Storm questioningly to see if she had anything to add to his massively deep and insightful advice.

Solar turned red again. "I'm glad I meet you two." His blush slowly turned into a grin, and he was hopping down the hall in front of Cherry, which was no easy feat considering how much his armor weighed.

 

He was as happy as a school colt. When he realized he was hopping, he suddenly stopped, as he could see two eyes starring at them from the end of the dark hallway. "Get behind my Cherry! I'll protect you!"

Storm smiled. "Thanks, Captain Obvious. We really needed that," Storm said jokingly. She continued with her, 'adventure' as she called it, still in an optimistic mood. "Hey, Scribe? Just wondering: why do you keep following me? Even after that gym incident?" Storm asked, stopping.

Scribe faltered, almost walking right into the mare as she stopped.

 

'Uh oh.'

 

"What...? I'm not, I mean..." He said at a loss for words: how was he supposed to answer a question like that? "I just... Uh..."

 

'Real words, idiot. Try using them.'

 

He shook his head to try and clear his thoughts: it never worked, but that didnt stop him trying. "I just think it's safer. You got trapped... and then there was the whole 'falling down ceiling of death' thing and..."

 

Flustered and unsure what to say or how to say it, his newfound tongue was getting tied very rapidly. 

 

"... I, uh, just don't want anything to happen to you. Am I bothering you? I can go if you want, just, uh... stay with somepony, in case anything happens... Please?"

Blaze nodded. "Yea I guess that makes sense. I never really left Trottingham either, or even outside of the main part of town. I kinda just stayed at my house all the time. Even my shop is in central Trottingham. I didn't really get out much, is basically what I'm trying to say. Heh..."
