Dusty Soul 2,612 September 11, 2013 Share September 11, 2013 (edited) Inspiration comes when you least expect it. You could start writing poems and if something catches on roll with it. Actually the first song I wrote was written in a Wendy's bathroom. Keep a notebook with you and right down every idea as they come to you. IceBeerG 55 September 11, 2013 Share September 11, 2013 How does it work? No, really, how does it work? I can understand inspiration come from reading, listetning, watching, sleeping, but how people can share they inspiration with others? I cann't hum to you, what i have in my head right now, as i don't know you interests. But i can suggest you to doing just whatever you like to do. Do you like movies? Go to cinema, maybe some scene will give you inspiration. Do you like reading? Read some book, and get inspired from it, and e.t.c.
AppleJared 87 October 4, 2013 Share October 4, 2013 As a composer I can say that inspiration comes when you aren't expecting it. If you try to think of some inspiration, you might get a melody but the best ideas I've ever had came out of nowhere. I also look to the gods of music like Hans Zimmer for inspiration. I've also started making music out of motifs like depression, honor and such. Those are super fun to make. This is my soundcloud https://soundcloud.com/jared-savage-day and "Loss" is something I made for the motif of depression. Hope that somewhat helps. Gay Bird 421 October 4, 2013 Share October 4, 2013 Always be ready for anything, inspiration will come when you don't expect it, and you'll forget everything you thought of if you don't put it on paper immediately. I always come up with great song ideas but forget them because I can't write them down. I suggest listening to and analyzing music that because influential to today's styles i.e. the everly brothers or the beatles. Look at what makes one song stand out from many similar songs. websterhamster 203 October 5, 2013 Share October 5, 2013 Keep a page of staffs with you to write notes down. And if you don't know how to read/write music, then it'll be much more difficult. Theory always helps, too. Courageous Thunder Dash 7,824 October 5, 2013 Share October 5, 2013 For me, my mind is always working. Sometimes I think of stuff in my mind and a little tune just starts playing in my head. Because I have my laptop with me, I can write these thoughts down in the form of music. This song for instance, came when I was thinking about a song for Daring Do. I thought of the Indiana Jones theme, but couldn't steal it. So, I made a song that incorperated the theme in it. This is how it turned out: Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeWg-TtBRMfqketa1ELyKGg Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/menelik-david-kenneth-cannady 2nd SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/thunder-dash-alternative/tracks Pony.fm: https://pony.fm/thunder-dash
Scootaloodle 1,623 October 5, 2013 Share October 5, 2013 (edited) What I do is just let inspiration come: one thing you could do is listen to all the music you like and be inspired by people already making music. Sometimes I just make stuff up and it goes somewhere, sometimes not but tons of my song’s came from just messing about with tunes and general messing about on the keyboard Edited October 5, 2013 by Asherdangerdash
Guest DJ Hydrolicious October 5, 2013 Share October 5, 2013 I want to try to start making music, but i have no inspiration or ideas for a song and i was wondering if anyone would like to help me with this little problem. Coming from someone who makes music in there spare time, well you will just need to wait to get motivated and inspired. It will come eventually but when it comes, get it down and don't forget about it. Also if your going to start making music, I would suggest using FL Studio 11, NI Massive, and Sylenth
eyupstep 0 October 10, 2013 Share October 10, 2013 I actually get my inspiration from just playing my instruments... pressing down some keys, build a nice sounding chord, build another one, make it a progression... Do you play any instruments? Latest work: Emptiness Outside (Instrumental) (House)
