I broke from all the pressure and she told me to give it a shot. Well I guess I like it now, the fandom appears to be nice and sounds like a lot of fun so I guess I'm having an okay time here. I should say I got a few depression and cognitive-dissonance issues. Please don't laugh, but I'm really bad at making friends, its almost a chore for me to go up to someone and say "hi", I'm just way too shy around new people and almost avoid them because I feel so awkward. Not to mention I don't want my family finding out I'm now a brony. Oh well, maybe, just maybe, this fandom will help me overcome my depression issues. And, at first glance, it's not hard to understand why. "It's just a cartoon for little girls. What's the appeal? Something must be wrong with them." Well, the forumla for success was pretty simple. Lauren Faust updated the old MLP fanchise so it wouldn't be so cringe inducing for the adults who are inevitably in the audience with their kids. I think 4Chan gets too much credit for "creating" the fandom. Whenever a good cartoon with good stories and characterization is made, word gets around. But regardless, I'm glad you got past whatever negative reaction you had at first. And nobody's going to laugh at you. Just be relaxed and be yourself. Almost everybody here does.
