I am so glad I live as close as I do to these cities, it really is nice that they have this big event every year. Truthfully, I didn't know that it's uncommon for other cities to hold these events. It's just sort of been the norm for me since I've lived around that area for a long time. I always saw it an just another cultural holiday that other people observe, but not me. I won't be going to Munich any time soon since I live in Canada. Munich may be right around the corner (380 miles, yeah pretty close...) but I just don't seem to find any interest in this whole Oktoberfest thing, so I don't see a reason to go there. However, there are celebrations here in Virginia and in DC that I will be attending both alone and with some meetup friends. Should be quite fun. All I'm excited about is the opportunity to kick it with some friends, and I suppose to drink a few beers as well. If not I'll just put on some oompah music and drink a bunch of beers with friends. Going to the one in Munich is on my bucket list though, for sure. Maybe next year when I'm living overseas. Yeah :/ I wouldn't be able to communicate, pay for anything, or find my way around if I even got there XDAs for celebrations here, I dunno. I don't remember there being one. I do go to a October Festival made by a local elementary school though, does that count? XD Probably not. It only costs like $10. The Oktoberfest is something that is one of the most known things about Germany outside of Germany. And sadly, I've met and seen several people from other countries that were nearly thinking that Bavaria and the Oktoberfest are representative for the whole of Germany. No, thank you.
