Scootalove 10,689 September 30, 2013 Share September 30, 2013 Wow, I never knew that until I saw this. That actually sounds like her name in Japanese, I should find some other names that can be translated in Japanese. 1 Credit: Moony © Forum FAQ Forum Rules
Moonlight 7,286 September 30, 2013 Share September 30, 2013 I do suppose it's actually quite similar to Rainbow Dash. And truth be told, it also has some qualities from Pinkie Pie, most noticeable by the uncontrollable laughter part. Also, personally, I think "Asuka" is a rather pretty name. 1 matching setups with my bff pathfinder
Rockymoo 2,137 September 30, 2013 Share September 30, 2013 What's Trixie's Japanese name? Just curious. And no, I don't mean just "Trixie" transliterated to Kanji. GhostPony750 959 September 30, 2013 Share September 30, 2013 Wait, they're gonna change their names? :/ Rainbow Dash is Rainbow Dash in the french version, I don't know why they should change it just for the japanese version. And it sounds awful anyway.

I was listening to Mandopony's Raindow Dash -Rock'n'Roll theme when I found it and was overcome with massive feels so I thought I'd share. ReverseFaller 2,483 September 30, 2013 Share September 30, 2013 The meaning fits her decent enough, and she does actually kind of look like an Asuka. sunset_sprint 190 September 30, 2013 Author Share September 30, 2013 (edited) I think Rei is a good one for Rarity, not sure if its totally a match for her of course but if you read the description of the name its pretty close. http://www.first-names-meanings.com/names/name-REI.html I'm feelin' it. The arrogance was one of the attributes that threw me off, but came pretty close don't you think? Anyways thats cool that you found your name on there. I think this was an obvious choice for Fluttershy, but Hinata really does compliment her quiet yet caring demeanor and I think that most of you will agree that the Hinata I'm thinking about really does encompass our quiet but strong yellow pegasus. http://www.first-names-meanings.com/names/name-HINATA.html To bring everyone up to speed my list is as follows: Rainbow Dash - Asuka Trixie - Fujiko Rarity - Rei Fluttershy - Hinata Agree or disagree? sunset_sprint 190 September 30, 2013 Author Share September 30, 2013 Glad someone is thinking the same Hinata. I'm still stumped on the rest of the mane six, but give me a little bit longer, I really want to find Applejack's next as I like her a lot too. Applejack is either going to be Sakura or Hitomi, this actually is a hard one to pinpoint. If anypony else has a thought, let me know. http://www.first-names-meanings.com/names/name-sakura.html or http://www.first-names-meanings.com/names/name-HITOMI.html I think I've found a good match for Pinkie Pie, Kimiko, description wise, sounds like out fun and loving burst-into-song earth pony. http://www.first-names-meanings.com/names/name-KIMIKO.html Sunset wants a brohoof /)Sunset Sprint - Xbox Live Gamertaghttp://sunsetsprint.deviantart.com/
Anneal 2,196 September 30, 2013 Share September 30, 2013 I did this before, in fact, when I had more experience with Japanese. 丸山 明- Maruyama Akira. Twilight Sparkle. Her name "Akira" implied brightness and intellect. Her last name, Maruyama, is a referenced to the roundish appearing mountains in Ponyville. 南 詩織- Minami Shiori. This used to be Lyra's name; now I switched it to Octavia. Shiori literally means "weaved poem", and I like to compare poetry to music itself. Minami is just...south. 世良 光- Sera Hikaru. Derpy Hooves. I gave her a more optimistic name to match her general personality. Hikaru is light, Sera is just a romanticized Japanese surname which means "great world". 長尾 真琴- Nagao Makoto. Lyra Heartstrings. Though her name is supposed to mean "honesty", I switched the meaning around so that it was two connected words, "truthful" and "lyre". 細田 春- Hosoda Haru. Applebloom. Haru means spring, and her last name technically has to do with farmland. 細田 秋- Hosoda Aki. Applejack. Aki means autumn; I intentionally made their names the season names because it was somewhat realistic for an agricultural family. 平井 和音- Hirai Kazune. Vinyl Scratch. Ironically, her name contradicts her occupation and fanon personality, since Kazune is "harmonic and understanding". Hirai is a typical Japanese surname meaning "calm well". 葉鳥 佳代子- Hatori Kayoko. Rainbow Dash. Kayoko means "good, ideal child", while the surname, Hatori, is a "leaf" bird. (Metaphor.) 河下 美玲- Kawashimo Mirei. Rarity. Mirei is...fabulous and beauty. And the surname means "below the river", which can imply her inner beauty. 河下 絢花- Kawashimo Ayaka. Sweetie Belle. Ayaka is literally "flower design". 大橋 蒼空- Ohashi Soku. Scootaloo. Soku has to do with the wind, while Ohashi means a notable or large bridge. And of course, I made a new name for somepony everyone knows. 紺野 虚子- Konno Kyoshi. Button Mash. Kyoshi means "teacher" in the Japanese Martial Arts. Don't worry, it's WAY in front of Sensei. Konno means near the fields. BUTTON MASH STREET FIGHTER KARATE COLT GO! Frith is Magick 1,471 September 30, 2013 Share September 30, 2013 @, You obviously put thought into this, I must say I'm impressed. It isn't easy to think of a name that sounds good and represents the character well. The only change I would suggest is adding 子 to Applejack's and Apple Bloom's names. Otherwise, the list is awesome, カートファイルさん。 Keep flyin'

I didn't really go with an exotic one since I'm afraid it'll sound too much like an action anime than actual. Lyra's name is actually my former 6th grade friend's name, but the surname isn't. She is a Japanese person from Sapporo who moved to Taiwan to learn Chinese. (She only watches Detective Conan .-. )
