I am holding a small contest as to who would want to help voice act/sing in a Cupcakes: The Musical preview. The song is called “El Tango De Bubblini” from “Moulin Rogue” (With different lyrics and title).

I will have lyrics and karaoke ready for those who contact me. Hurry before the contest ends! (These may or may not be the final voice casting for the film.)

Is having an actual microphone required? Because I can sing and voice-act pretty well (you can look at my YT for covers of songs) but I have only a web-cam mic. :/

Do you need a baritone? I don't know what gender/voices the OCs you have in this would be, but I'm a baritone with a nice mic.

Well i do have a deep voice. Maby this something I could do. And also, i love this freaking song! Is so mighty, and epic, and it make's me wanna go... (Then Sig fly's up into the sky and screams towards the heavens ROXANNE! then come back down) Sorry for that don't know what flu into me.

 

I might not have much experiences. But I am willing to do it.

On it.  I bought the instrumental tango (film) version of "Roxanne" for this audition, and by this time tomorrow I will submit my ponified rendition of Jacek Koman's fantastic, haunting performance of the classic Police song.  For the past couple hours I've studied the character's twisted motivations for singing the song the way that he does, and I can only hope that his resentment, sorrow and spite are apparent in my interpretation of this piece.

 

TL;DR...with a background in classical music and death metal vocals, I'm auditioning via the gravelly, pessimistic lines of "Roxanne".  As indicated by my last couple submissions, I take auditions seriously.

Here is my audition for the narration/singing part of Rarity.  I applied a soft-knee limiter and compressor to the original soundtrack, since this version was originally published as a musical.  The vocal tracks use the Pantheon "Hall" reverb, configured as being at the center of a 40 meter room (based on my estimate of the auditorium size in the film version).

 

 

No apologies whatsoever to the cast of Moulin Rouge or The Police!

 

It was easy enough to do the Argentinian accent during the spoken lines, but singing in an accent proved a bit more challenging.  I normally speak/sing in an American accent (non-regional dialect), and I'm open to trying new accents as required for production.

 

Anyways, I've always loved Cupcakes.  Not so much for the gore/troll aspect, but for the same reasons that I love The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: it's a stoic, macabre carnival mirror of our own entertainment venues.  I look forward to working more on this project.

UPDATE.  The director emailed me back, but apparently didn't update this thread with a critical piece of information: Rarity (and maybe Pinkie...she didn't specify) requires a female voice actor.

 

Word to the wise...

Directors: specify EXACTLY what you want.  Don't waste our time.

Actors: make sure you know EXACTLY what is expected of you.  Don't waste your own time making an audition that isn't what is needed.

I would like try. too sing it. Give me lyrics and i will give it a go. I can uplode it on youtube so you may preview it. Might even throw in nice picture just for fun of it.   Haha

 

(Never mind any thing of that a bow, i just got massages exampling to me there female voice actors only, however still good luck with projact sound like it, could turn out quit epic )

It's too bad you won't need Fluttershy, I'm known to have a realistic Fluttershy voice, but this sounds interesting, I still need to think about this though.
