Nice speech, but I think you could have done a little bit more. I'm sure it would be a challenge because of a time limit, but you made the characters seem a little one dimensional. Instead of just talking about their best traits, I think you should have discussed both good and bad about each character (like Applpejack's stubbornness and Pinkie Pie's insecurities). You could have also explained the community a little better, like mentioning music, fanart, fanfiction, PMVs, sculptures and plushies, and more. But you hit the high points and stayed on topic, so I will give you a solid B+.

Don't get me wrong, I thought it was great. Public speaking alone takes a lot of guts, and even more so to speak out against public expectations and opinions. I applaud him for that. I just think that if he had a little more time for his speech, it could have been a little bit more convincing. Like I said, my main problem is that the way you described the characters was so quick and simplistic, they seemed a little mono-dimensional. Especially since the whole point of explaining the characters was to show their depth. However, overall it was a great speech.

Ah, I see your point. In retrospect, with explaining the characters, I really just said "Look, here's Pinkie Pie, but she's more than just pink. Here's what she does, and what makes her great."

Again, time constraints did limit the content of that section.

Lol, you know, I've seen countless presentation videos on youtube. I'm not dissing this at all, or trying to downplay it, I'm just sayin', he's not the only one to ever do it.

 

But pretty darn' impressive job! That takes guts! I seriously hope I get a speaking opportunity at college. That would be one heck of a way to "come out of the stable" about it. Best part is, I'll have slides and script to help. Well. If I get a speaking op...

 

Where it would be appropriate, of course. I'm not gonna make my presentation about MLP if it's supposed to be about thermodynamics XD

And, to anypony having doubts about whether or not to deliver a speech like mine, I can not encourage you enough! I myself was inspired from speeches I saw crop up on EqD. If nopony actually went out of their way to deliver a speech, maybe doubt got the better of them, I would never have been inspired, and this speech probably never would have happened!

Major kudos to the presenter, great courage, great argument, and I have a great feeling he just welcomed more into the herd. I saw something similar to this, a person who demonstrated the flaw of physics in My Little Pony, very interesting, and, who knows, you might learn something from it.

 

There are probably more of these videos out there, I might go looking for them now.
