My new OC needs a name

Hi everypony! I hope everyone is having a great day. I'm wondering if you could help me naming my new OC.

 

I just can't think of anything, let alone a cutie mark  . So any suggestions would be appreciated. 

 

I think he looks better with the glasses, maybe he would be working in the Cloudsdale library, or maybe be a Scribe or Historian..

 

So what do you think?

That's actually a mix of both Twilight and Fluttershy. Some people don't like it when you make OC's personalities to close to canon character's personalities.

Well I'm not trying to make him close to any of the Mane 6. It's more a reflection of some of my own personality traits. Maybe I should say he's introverted, and values knowledge. He's just a pony that likes to stay in the background, and leave the limelight for others.

Now that's more like it! People will get attracted to these OCs who tend to be in the backdrop, rather than all out Mary Sues and Gary Stus (which drives people [including me] downright insane).

Yeah I can understand that. But Swift Pen is socially awkward to a point. Sometimes he just doesn't understand other ponies, so that's why he loves books so much. They make sense to him, and there are not really that many surprises with books either.

Say...that just gave me an idea for YOU.

 

Why don't you make an RP about the life of Swift Pen. A slice-of-life RP between you and me. Let's say that Swift Pen was born in Cloudsdale, but disliked working as a weather pony and instead indulges in reading books. How about he decides to move to Ponyville, where he finds ponies that have almost the same personality as him! I've got an OC named Thunder Dash who is very all around. He could mentor Swift Pen, if that's alright with you.

Well that is an idea. Not really sure how to Slice of Life RP. I mean where is the cut off point for it? Where do you decide where to leave the characters be, and let others decide what happens next? I know you want to avoid God rping, but I figure that's more for the survival rps
