Crimson overheard what Shade had said about Sombra, and chuckled, smiling rather noticeably, but didn't say anything. "If only this guy could see what me and Sole can do, then he wouldn't sound so sure about that..." thought Crimson, before glancing at the crystal empire in the distance, with a rather unimpressed look.

Mare looked at the griffin with disbelief on her face and in her voice. She held no prejudice towards any species, so she quickly accepted his presence in the escapade earlier. But what he just said... a clear contradiction. "And whoever told you that? The briefing clearly stated that the traces of energy there are 'faint and not nearly as strong as a daemon'." - Star threw the griffin an irritated stare - "You didn't even bother reading it, did you?"

 

She completely ignored the mention of infamous King Sombra. Somegriffin was clearly underestimating his power and was too confident of his abilities... judging from what she had learned from the Inquisition libraries.

I don't care about that other stuff, it doesn't interest me." He said with a fave of his talon. "And besides, there's obviously traces of demon magic around here. Can't you sense it?" He asked

Colt chuckled at Crimsons story, he  looked over at the crystal formations in the distance "Well, would you look at that" he listened to the others talk about various things relating to the mission "im hoping this turns out to be nothing, it would give me some time to learn more about this place, ive never been up here"

"Figures." - Star sighed heavily. To come and think she was stuck here with at least one mindless brute... that was one too much... but he probably was an invaluable member of the team, nevertheless. Still, one thing really ticked her off... "Oh, so you can actually sense the demonic presence, even though we still have not yet passed the Crystal Empire itself and we're probably miles away from our final destination? Why does the Inquisition even hire different ponies when they have you? Why does my branch even exist then, if you can just enter the city and already know if everything is in order?" - her response was simply leaking with sarcasm. She blew a raspberry at the griffin and walked off to another companion, in order to ease her nerves. Implying her job was meaningless... unbelievable.

In fact, she overheard words which told a story she knew far too well. Mare turned towards the source of these words and approached it... A violet unicorn. "You and me both." - she looked at him calmly - "What branch you're in, once more?" - it was surprising for her too see she wasn't the only one who was not experienced in combat to an extend she'd probably be required.

sole sighed "I meant I can sense demon magical energy near us, but very faint. It's in random areas, like spread out. And your just jealous I have magic and strength." Colt continued looking out at the mountains and the crystal buildings up head "i wonder, what advantage would any dark being have by being this far north, thats why i think its probably nothing, its probably some small demon who died of the cold is whats causing it, any one else have any theories?"

Crimson laughed at the mares reaction to Sole's attitude, trotting up to her. "Don't mind him, he's a warrior, not a talker. All he thinks about, is fighting, and his wife. He probably didn't mean to undermine you. Hi, I'm Crimson Grin, of the Black Legion. What's your name?" he asked politely.

Colt spoke up to the group "Ok folks lets take a bet on what you think is causing the disturbance" he took his hat off, and put 15 bits in "tell your theory and put some money in the hat, ill keep it in a safe place and who ever is the most right gets all the money, ive got 15 bits on its some small dead froze over demon"

Just as she addressed the unicorn she heard a voice addressing her from behind her back. Its owner soon appeared in field of her vision. "Uh... I'm sorry." - she rubbed a hoof against her temple - "I'm just a bit stressed with this assignment, didn't mean to be hostile either..." - mare gathered herself up and attempted to regain her composure - "Just call me Star, or Risi. Whichever you prefer." - since she joined the Inquisition, she wasn't too fond of giving out her full name. Last thing she'd want to do is put her family in danger by telling everyone she's from Inquisition...

As the gray stallion offered placing bets, she raised an eyebrow. Hazard wasn't really her thing, but this attempt of cheering up atmosphere and careless behavior... perhaps it was what she needed? "Fine. Raise to 20 that we'll return empty-hoofed." - coins levitated from her bags as she placed them in the hat. As she threw him a challenging look, she suffered a strange feeling that she'd never see these bits again.

Just as she finished her task, she spotted a shadow in the skies. Ignoring her mates, mare let out a loud whistle. A brief moment later she ducked, evading Imperio's nose-dive, and straightened up a moment later, allowing him to land on her back. The caracara quickly folded his wings, probably enjoying the views and completely ignoring everypony else. Star turned to Crimson once more. "And this is Imperio." - she leaned a bit closer and whispered - "He's really humorous, but don't tell him I've said it." After that she gently snuggled her 'little' pet.

"From what branch? I'm Mirror Shade from Twillight Branch, I joined after I discovered what was happening in the weather factory..." He looked at the ground, horrible memories in mind. "I don't like to talk about my sad past, which nearly drive me insane... But hey, it's history now, we have to go forward sometimes..." He then turned around and looked at Colt, "I bet 30 bits that it's a little demon that messes with the country folks"

Star ceased  her current activity as soon as she heard a voice. Her smile, first since the moment the journey started, disappeared again. Imperio was always most desired companion to have, but well... even he couldn't talk. She had to be careful with the choice of her words. Thus, she caringly stated: "We all have our stories we don't want to share." - that was a lie though. The only story she had to share was that she didn't have any stories to share. Excluding the work for Inquisition, her life was quite simple and happy. That's why field missions like these caused her so many troubles...

Though, the next thing Unicorn did was raising the bets... what made the mare rise an eyebrow. What she didn't expect though, to see the bets raised more than twice her imput. She stared blankly at Crimson and burst out in a melodic laughter after a moment. "Haha, I'm not going to throw away that many bits, nope~!" - she looked back at the idea originator - "Guess I'll have to bid farwell to my part of money, won't I?" - she let out a subtle sigh...

Crimson shrugged. "No one said you had to bet anything, I just bet that much because I can afford it. After all, its only money, its not like its anything too important, like freedom, or friends, those are the only things I really care about...well, those, and my ship, anyway...but still, they make more gold every day, so I'm not too worried about it." Said Crimson with a carefree smile.

As the airship lowered into a descent, a small group of ponies- including a metal legged inquisitor with a large, grey beard and a crystal eye- made their way out to the landing point. They were all wrapped in light cloaks that were common inside of the Crystal Empire, its magic protecting a few days. The Lord Inquisitor was the first one out, bowing to the bearded Inquisitor. "Grand Inquisitor... I was not expecting for you to see us off."

 

The Grand Inquisitor laughed in a deep voice. "Oh, please. Who did they think they would send? Cadence and Shining Armor? No, you just got little old me." He shook his head, glancing behind him. "And this must be your squad?"

 

"Yes, it is."

 

"Hmm..." He smiled. "Well, at least I can ensure Luna that the northern colonies will be seen to well."

 

"Excellent. I will come with you, then, and..." He smiled lightly, levitating out of his cloak several bags of bits and giving them to the Inquisitors. "Take this as a vacation bonus. In three hours, I want all of you back at the ship. Make sure you get some dinner as well." He smiled and turned towards the castle, and the pair of them marched off, talking jovially. Their Silver Guard bodyguards did not take their glare off of you until they entered the streets.

Colt smiled, he put all the bet money in a pocket in his jacket and took the vacation money and put his hat back on, he looked inside "well, this is a nice sum, well fellas, if you need me ill either be at a pub or bar, at the library, or getting to know some local crystal mares, which ever i run into first" he chuckled and headed out into the city

Sole didn't get the bits, or see the others at all. As he had flown ahead he wasn't with them. He was currently flying around the city, ignoring a few crystal ponies who gasped in fear as he flew overhead. "I wonder if cadence and shining armor are at the castle..." He mumbled to himself as he flew

Mirror Shade took a bag of bits : "this would be useful, thanks", and then he added : "if you want to see me, I'll be at the bar, but before, I have to buy a cape, the last thing I want is to be recognized" his past at a Canterlot news paper didn't made him popular or famous, but even if the Inquisition tried to hide the incident at the rainbow departement in the weather factory, some pony heard about it and Mirror Shade could be know at the Empire.

As the Lord Inquisitors disappeared into the street, a light snow began falling, quickly coating the streets with the soft crystals. Some of fillies came out into the street, trotting around in the falling snow. The Crystal Castle seemed to glow, despite the cloudy skies.

 

But, yet... the skies seemed to darken with every second, and some of the pegasi are scratching their heads...

Colt was walking about the town looking around at the sights, he still had 3 hours so he took his time, he found the library and looked around in there, it was a rather large place  and very expansive, he walked around and looked at a few of the books,  making a note to return to this place, he then stepped back out into the streets to find something to eat

Mirror Shade was in the bar, with his dark cape that he just bought at a local shop. He was playing card with some cristal ponies and a griffon. Shade was having a strange feeling about all of this... he looked outside and saw that the sun was going down... He then get out to go to the rendez-vous point...
