open Broken World: Equestria

"Good. Then we need not fight. And to say I'm a rebal is a bit harsh. I'm more a conscientious objector. These heirachy fellow claim to be the true government of Equestria yet it is fact that Princess Luna, the only remaining Royalty. Is the true ruler. There imprisonment of her is bordering on the heretical side."

Absolon turned away.

"I'm not interested in fighting. These things have a habit of working themselves out. Now, it's been a long day and I'm going to bed. Where ever that may be."

(Can we end the mission now plz?)

"Well, I am a rebel. Tasked with stealing items from the Hierarchy. I was caught one day and thrown into prison. Now we're on this side of whatever. Anyway, it's getting late. G'night." She eyed each of them for a second, checked her bag to know what she had, and went to sleep for the night.

Day 2

You hear a transmission coming from a ham radio that you found intact last night. After a rather peaceful night of rest, you feel like you are able to take on the world. You gather around the radio to listen to the message.

"Anypony out there receiving this message, I urge you to be on the lookout for rebels. By the order of Hierarch Yvanna, they are to be reported to Hierarchy authorities if you see them. If they resist, you have the permission to shoot them on sight. These rebels are dangerous."

You did not want to hear the rest of the message because you know what they want. The Mild West is the only area in the West that remains mostly untouched by the Hierarchy though they do conduct patrols every once in a while. You have the option to walk eastward towards the rebel-held East but that would take months of treading through dangerous territories.

For now, you decide to go to the settlement that Nidal spotted yesterday. It is a one-hour walk but with the supplies you have in your saddlebags, you have enough to reach it. The settlement's protective wall is built from scrap metal and rising over the walls are crudely-built watchtowers, each occupied by a pony manning a machine gun and the other a powerful long range rifle dubbed the "sniper cannon". Both are trigger weapons - weapons with big triggers and no trigger guards to accommodate a pony hoof.

The guards standing in front of the gate stop you when they see you approaching.

"Ya'll don't look like wastelanders. Who are ya and where're ya'll from?" one of the guards asked in a typical Mild West accent.

Nidal looked at Hiccup and shook her head. She walked forward, getting the guard's attention. "My name is Nidal. The rest can give you their names when the time comes. We came from that way..." She pointed the direction that they came from. "About an hour's ground distance. Can we come in?"

(again, I missed a lot, I'll just say I found you guys)

Sunrise blinked. "Oh, uh....um..." I have no idea what to say...

Dichromate interjected quickly before she could say anything that would give them away, "Bounty Hunters!" He gave a poker-face grin. Now where the hay did that come from?

The guard raised an eyebrow while looking towards the direction that Nidal is pointing at.

"There ain't nothin' there," said the guard. "Except for a crashed ship. We saw it crash yesterday. Ya'll don't happen ta be...rebels, are ya?" he asked suspiciously and points a pistol at Nidal while the other guard points his towards Dichromate.

(xD Dang it Element of Honesty! You screwed us over!)

Hiccup's eyes widened. "Whoa, easy there guys!" He turned to the guards. "Please sirs, we're all just trying to survive this hell hole. We're not rebels. We're simply a few ponies looking for some food, water, and shelter."

Nidal walked a bit closer, separating herself from the rest of the group before she spoke, "And what's it to you if I am? This land isn't owned by the Hierarchy nor do they have any power here. Or are you part of them? No, I strongly doubt it. Why should you listen to the Hierarchy and their command to stop me? Aren't they the ones who are trying to force their influence on you? And you're going to LET them do that? Why don't you just lay down and let them pat you on the head while you're at it? Be their faithful dog who'll do their every bidding, no matter what."

"Whoa, easy there, partner," the guard said and holstered his pistol. "Look, we ain't part of the Hierarchy or rebels but a community's gotta look out fer themselves. Don't want any trouble, know what I mean?"

However, the guards are still unconvinced.

"But if ya'll aren't rebels, where're ya'll from?"

"Uh... I am a rebel. Stole bunch a o' arms from the Hierarchy. The ship crashed, leaving us stranded with nearly no food or water. Actually, I don't think there was any food or water that we found. Knowing that, are you two going to let us in or allow us to stay out here and most likely die? 'Tis not like I'd want to start a fight with you guys anyway. Rebels fight for the ponies against Hierarchy, not against the ponies." She sat down and looked at them.

The two guards look at the group with their eyes converging on Nidal. She made her point but the guards are afraid that if they offer shelter to the rebels, the Hierarchy would come burn their settlement.

"Fine, you win. I was gonna ask ya ta leave but since you insist on going in, we'll allow ya but if the Hierarchy drops by, the guard will send ya flanks ta them. I suggest ya'll speak ta the mayor first ta clarify things."

With that, the guards signal the watchtower ponies to raise the metal gates.

Nidal entered the town, nodding politely as she passed by the guards. "Where would we find the mayor, by the way?"

Nidal nodded again and went to where the guard had directed. Along the way, she attempted to make small talk with the rest of the group, "So, how many of you aren't rebels and just happened to be on that ship?"

Dichromate rolled his eyes, but seemed satisfied that at least the group hadn't gotten shot full of holes.

Sunrise lagged behind, trying not to be noticed too much.

Absolon smiled. He had been content to follow for the time being. His serves not needed.

"Well now you should ask. I'm a saboteur in the service of the Lunar Legion. Born there raised there trained to be a doctor there. Up untill only a month back I was only dealing with the Solar Brotherhood but then my situation changed. I'm currently on a mission. My one and only goal is to free Princess Luna from Hierachy imprisonment."

Absolon looked at the ground.

"I don't expect any of you chaps to assist me but I have a feeling we can mutually benifit from crippling the Hierchary."

Absolon noticed Sunrise was straying behind.

"What of you dear friend, So far you have relinquished very few details. And I'm sure that everyone out here has a story to tell."

"Well we don't know. It's been seven centuries since she was last seen but we have it on good ground they have her. I'm assuming they would have her in ther capital so that's were I plan on heading"

You notice several guards eying your group in a suspicious manner. The other settlers are not that concerned but they do seem curious that the gate guards let in a bunch of strangers. As you survey your surrounding, you see a sign located on a pole saying "Welcome to Stonewall Settlement, founded since 150 A.A.

The settlement is composed of two layers. The top layers is above ground and located around a deep crater while the second layer is located in the middle of the crater itself. There are several buildings lining the wall of the crater too and a spiral metal bridge connected the top layer to the bottom layer (think Megaton from Fallout 3). The settlement is rather big and crowded too as wasteland traders from all over the Equestrian Wasteland come here to do business. A prosperous settlement no doubt and definitely a place the Hierarchy will want to drop by once in a while.

You are free to do what you want here but be wary for Hierarchy Commissars and whistleblowers. You should also take note of thugs and basically anypony looking for trouble.

Nidal saw how the town was set up and looked to the rest of her group. "Meet at the mayor's tower, the tall one at the north end of the town, around noon or something. I'm gonna go see what's around." She flew into the air, looking for both Hierarchy members and for a store of some kind, preferably weapons.

Dichromate checked his money pouch. He didn't have very much, but it would probably be enough to get something to eat. He headed off towards where he assumed the market would be.

Sunrise glanced up at the mayor's tower. I have nothing to do here, I might as well get a head start! She headed off in that direction.

Spread out (each character will have their own story)

Meet at the mayor's office (latest by noon)

Time now: 9.24 A.M.

Nidal

You wander into a roofed bazaar at the east end of the settlement. It is crowded and you hardly have any room to squeeze past the other ponies, let alone fly. There are a lot of things on sale that day and you can see customers haggling with traders. Ponies usually do not eat meat but since plants are scarce in post-apocalyptic Equestria, meat is now the primary food source but no matter how much you try to eat meat, you just can't get yourself to accept it. Luckily though, there are traders that sell crops harvested from Blue Sky's greenhouses and farms. Blue Sky is Equestria's largest peacekeeping organization as well as Equestria's only organization help restore the flora and fauna of the wasteland. It operates in both East and West but it is more active in the East since the Hierarchy do not really welcome any organization that is not supporting them. The organization is led by a pony known only as the Librarian. Besides her weekly message spread via the organization's radio, Blue Sky FM, nopony has ever seen her face. Some wonder if the Librarian is even real or not. Whatever it is, many settlements and colonies benefited from their contribution. After all Blue Sky is the second largest contributor to the recovery process of Equestria with the Hierarchy being the first.

The traders sell just about anything ranging from foods and drinks to weapons, armor and even contraband weapons such as the crystal dart launcher and Exonite gas sprayer. While they seem cheap, you realize that you do not have enough money to buy most of the weapons and equipments. Besides the stalls, there are also many shops and bars for traders and buyers to rest and have some food. It feels...different from the settlement you come from. This place feels so much more lively despite being in the middle of nowhere.

You notice a few Hierarchy soldiers in the bazaar, minding their own business and looking at some of the wares. You decide the best way to blend with the crowd is to buy some new clothes.

Dichromate

While Nidal heads for the eastern end of the settlement, you head towards the crater and find hundreds of stalls lining the wall of the crater, connected to the spiral bridge. It is less crowded down here but the prices here are still the same as the east end bazaar. The crater is rather deep and one false move can result in a fall to your death. The guard rails seem rather flimsy so you decide to keep your distance from the edge. It is apparent that Hierarchy influence here is rather strong because you see Hierarchy Enforcers patrolling the place and demanding random ponies to show their identity cards while the guards did nothing. Anypony failing to produce their cards are sent off to the settlement's security station for questioning.

You do not feel comfortable at all but thank Celestia that none of them decide to take notice of you. You pretend to go through some jewelries and the Enforcers walk by without noticing that the way you dress is different from the rest. Your main concern now though are the Commissars. They have better perception than the Enforcers and no doubt they can spot you but so far, you see none yet.

You decide it is best to get a new disguise first.

Sunrise

Navigating the crowded streets is no easy task, especially when there are many stallions leering at you with evil intentions in their minds. The place is not safe and you decide that the sooner you reach the mayor's tower, the better. You do not have any problem slipping past the Hierarchy Enforcers because the way you dress is similar to a wasteland settler but different enough so that a Commissar can spot you. You remain on alert for them.

Upon reaching the entrance to the mayor's tower, to your horror, you find that Hierarchy Enforcers are guarding the entrance instead of the settlement guards.
