(My intention is for K-Bar to be Bi. She's just flirtin' around ;D)

"Now then, you all have one hour to prepare for the journey. If any of you need me, go to cell 13 in the dungeon and knock on the floor, I'll be there. If not, we'll meet here in an hour." K-Bar flicked her tail into the faces of both Schwartz and Crystal playfully as she left.

"Understood." *Schwartz instantly flew off into the air to the peak of mount Canterlot, where she kept her most prized and important possessions.*

And...why the hay would she be staying in a dungeon again? Crystal Flame complemented this thought and came to the decision that she must be torturing other pegasi who crossed her. Yeesh, I better stay on guard. Finally escaping the confines of the hall and proceeding towards the barracks, he began wondering what to bring. Horseshoes, definitely, he thought as he struggled to put them on. They make bucks lethal. He wasn't sure what else, though. He had to travel light, after all. Tiptoeing around his sleeping companions, he tried unsuccesfully twice to wear what he assumed was chain mail, until he realized it was the fireplace's metal grating. "It's hard to see in the dark," he grumbled, finding the actual chain-mail and slipping it into place over his chest.

Foregoing the spear for a lighter javelin that he slung onto his back, his last item before leaving was an adapted crossbow. He grabbed a few bolt racks before leaving to go back to the hall.

(All this took around half an hour, he's a bit early. And if you're wondering how he can possibly use what he brought without any hands, don't worry, I'm creative )

"well schwarts, you know of the legend, where should we start looking?"

*Schwartz entered a cave at the peak of the mountain. Inside was a large chest. She opened up the chest and donned the armor inside. The armor was made of moon silver. Some of the hardest, lightest, and most flexible metal to exist. She also took out a tempered moon steel sword, which she placed in it's sheath and clipped to the flank of her armor. Lastly, two moon ebony daggers which she attached to the armor underneath each of her wings.*

"There, fully outfitted. Im ready for this." *She ran out of the cave and jumped off the cliff of the mountain and allowed herself to fall for several yards before she opened her wings and flew back to the courtyard meeting place.*

K-Bar went into her secret quarters and showered, knowing this would be her last chance for a while. When she got out, she put on a much lighter set of armor, this one hugging her body very tightly to allow her to move easily. She also grabbed a bag of bits and her vast collection of knives, sheathing them in the seemingly thousands of scabbards located all over her tight body suit.. She then went over to the comfy chair in her office and began reading a book of legends while she waited for anypony who needed to see her before the hour was up. (hint hint)

K-Bar's well trained ears picked up on the hoofsteps outside the room. She yanked on a chain under her desk, and the wall in front of Crystal rumbled sideways. It stopped moving and Crystal could see a well stocked bookshelf and overall quaint living space. "come in!" she yelled

Crystal Flame blinked. The scene in front of him made it clear there were no ponies being tortured by any means. "Err, sorry ma'am. I was just...checking to make sure. I'll leave now." He awkwardly backtracked, putting on a bad poker face.

K-Bar began to laugh, "Are you serious? I'm an evil bitch because i have a wing mutation? Thats what you thought?" she composed herself and continued, "You pegasus guards seem to have the assumption that all of us Bat ponies are evil just because we look the part. I may be a criminal, but most of us are goody two horseshoeses just like you." she smirked

Crystal Flame coughed awkwardly. "Well, it wasn't just that. But your, erm...choice of words earlier today. I've never seen a pony, err, how do I say...use such colorful vocabulary...ma'am," he added.

 

"I didn't mean to act like that, this job just gets to me sometimes. It's hard running an efficient guard when nopony trusts your kind." K-Bar said sadly.

(I love how it went right over Crystal's head when she said she was a criminal lol)

Crystal Flame felt the slightest stirrings of sympathy for her, but those were immediately washed away when something she said rang in his ears. "Wait. You...ARE...a criminal?" He backed away slowly, the idea of torture slowly reforming in his head. Just then, another Lunar Guard strolled into the office, bumping into Crystal on the way. He frowned, looking at the guard, then realized-they knew each other from the casual greeting the second gave the first. Then he realized what this meant. It was two against one. The commander was a criminal. What if...what if they ARE torturing pegasi down here. That means...I'm next! Crystal Flame blinked once in shock. Then, smiling to hide his suspicion, he said, "Well ma'am, it looks like the hour will be over soon. I think...I'll go back upstairs...away from this tort-I mean, office. He backtracked slowly towards the door.

KB sighed and kicked a button, causing the door behind Schwartz and Crystal to close. "I let that slip, didn't I? I guess I should explain myself. I was kicked out of my house when I turned 18. I lived on the streets, working as hired muscle for gangs. I eventually got backed into a corner by one gang, and was forced to kill for them. I got caught and thrown in the very cell outside this room. After a few months, Princess Luna herself came down here and explained her need for bat ponies to be her guards. She offered me the highest position in her power, off the record of course, in exchange for my loyalty. She was the only pony who believed that I didn't want to kill all those ponies, and I'm thankful for that. So here I am now, commanding Luna's army of guards." KB waited for the reactions of the only two guards who knew about her past now.

"Which is why you were so upset that Luna was kidnapped, seeing as she was the only pony who believed in you!" exclaimed Crystal Flame in realization. Then realizing that he had said that out loud, he coughed and said, "Um, I mean...that explains a lot, ma'am."

He re-evaluated his opinion of the pony. Well, on the one hand, she has a very strong alibi. On the other, she's still a criminal. Realizing that the door behind him was closed, and possibly locked, he stood statue-still, waiting for somepony else to make the first move.
