'Seriously, I'll be fine. Just trust me.' Geoff said. He gave a weak smile and began to walk down the right hallway before realizing a flaw in his plan. Luna was his literal light. He ignored it, instead feeling his way through the dark. He felt the rough dirt and occasional brick as he made his way down.

 

Wait.

 

Brick.

 

Bricks don't go underground. He gave a huge grin. 'Luna! There's bricks in here! That means a chamber or something!' He yelled.

Luna sat in her spot. Unmoving to await her friends return. She heard foot steps approach her from the left. Her happiness arising as she thought of her friend's return.
"Geoff?"
There was no reply. The figure got closer and closer. Eventually revealing an equine shaped figure. Luna's smile was fading as it got closer. For standing before her was something she feared with all her heart. Standing before her was nightmare moon. She backed away in terror and began running to her friend.

Geoff was confused when Luna made no reply. Taking his attention from the wall, he began to move towards where he had come from. A figure appeared. He instantly recognized the blue and black mare. 'Uh, Luna?' He said in a confused tone as she ran past him. Another equine like figure stepped into the light. 'Oh, hey Celestia. Where's Aaron? Be shouldn't be far behind.' He asked. The figure slowly approached him. He tuned his neck, looking for Aaron.

Luna ran into Geoff, crying. The illusion was gone for now, but it seemed so real to her. She dried into his choulder, terrified of what she witnessed. All the while, Aaron and Celestia were walking along a long bridge. Aaron was on her back as to not fall off the edge.

Geoff saw the figure disappear, like t had turned to dust. Luna cried on his shoulder. He looked around, extremely confused. What had it been? What was Luna running? Where next? He sighed and hugged Luna. 'I dunno what that was, but it obviously bothered you.' He said, unsure of what to do or say to comfort her. He sat there, holding her.

As the two crossed, They began to look around. Aaron felt a chill run up his spine. Something was happening. He could feel it. Celestia stopped in her tracks. Her eyes were wide at what she saw. Now she was seeing her ancient foe. The tyrant king of the crystal empire. King Sombra with the sharpest teeth Aaron had seen on a pony.

Geoff hugged Luna tightly. He heard a voice with an accent he didn't recognize. It took him a second, but he remembered it.

 

British.

 

He looked around. The voice echoed slightly, and it got louder. A man, similar looking to Geoff, turned the corner. He had short, spiked hair. He was slightly smaller than Geoff. His accented voice greeted Geoff coldly.

 

'You messed up. You broke the family.'

 

Geoff realized it was Gavin. He didn't understand. Why was he being blamed?

 

'No, Burnie closed te co-'

'He did it because you failed us.'

'No, because we were losi-'

'No. You broke us. Michael, Ray, Jack. All of us.'

 

Geoff grit his teeth. Gavin was blaming him. His only friend besides Luna blamed him for everything.

 

'I left because of you. England doesn't have you in it.'

 

That was it. Geoff slumped against the wall, quietly crying. He spent years wishing he tried to keep the company together and he was finally being blamed.

 

The figure disintegrated, but Geoff didn't notice.

Aaron looked to the illusion of the king. He got off the trembling Celestia and walked up to it. He waved his hand in it to dispel the illusion.

"Celestia, get a hold of yourself. Its an illusion. Remember. They cant hur-"

He was cut off. He heard a flick of a lighter. He turned around to see the illuminated face of his brother and a few of his family members. All with blood on their throats.

"Hey little man. How's it going."

Aarons eye twitched at the sight. He began to scream uncontrollably. Sending his scream echoing through the mines.

Geoff sat before he heard another voice. It was feminine and soft, but not Luna's by any means. He looked to the doorway. A mangled figure stood at the door. It approached him. He could see it now. It was bloody and disfigured.

 

Geoff doubled over and gagged. Blood was everywhere. Bones stick out in some places. It was an abomination. It's voice greeted Geoff.

 

'Hello Geoff. I'm glad you helped.' It said with malice. Geoff held his head to the ground, afraid to look up. Content with its work, the other figure turned to dust. Geoff heard an echoing scream. 'Luna. Something happened I think.' He said flatly as he slumped back agasint the wall.

Luna looked to Geoff. He was a terrified as she was.
"Geoff. We have to get out of here. This place is... is too much. We need to get into a wider space to get a better grip on our surroundings."
She stood up.

"Come, my friend. We must push on ward."

Luna extended a wing to her Geoff.

Geoff looked up. 'Yeah.' He said flatly. He pulled himself up and touched Luna's wing. He was surprised that it was no differs than a bird. He snapped out of his thoughts and moved forward. 'I think Celestia and Aaron need help. We should find them first.' He said in a shaky voice as he walked sternly towards the staircase they had come from.

Celestia sent a mighty light from her horn, sending the images away. Aaron had some terrifying creations lurking his head. She looked down to the cowering human. She brought him up to her and began to nuzzle at his neck. It was calming him down. Snapped out of his fear, he found Celestia holding him up. She placed him on her back and they began to walk.

Geoff ran up the stairs. He burst through the door and went into the one Aaron and Celestia had gone through. He noticed a glowing down the hall. He ran towards them. 'We need to stick together. I found what might be a building underground but we need the journal. This is probably a maze.' He explained.

[Mr. Critical 434]

"Agreed. Separation is not a good idea against something that manifests ones fears. But, I did notice that only one of our fears can be manifested at once. This could give us an advantage. What say you, Geoff?"
Luna kept her pursuit. Trying to reach her sister and Aaron.

'One out of four seems like better odds than 1 outta 2. Let's stay together.' Geoff agreed. He looked behind him for the mare that followed him up. 'Where...where's Luna?' He said with a confused face. 'She was just behind me a second ago. She might still be down below...'

Luna saw her friend disappear. The mask knew she was on to its tricks and separated her from any help for the moment. She had to continue on without him. Hopefully she wont encounter any of her nightmares. Or a specific nightmare to be exact about it.

Geoff looked around for Luna. 'Luna? Luna...' He called. He got visibly worried. 'We need to find Luna, right now. She's lost I think.' He said as he searched for her. He ran off from Celestia and Aaron down the stairs again, but didn't find Luna. 'Where could she have gone...?!' He mumbled as he retraced his steps.

Geoff walked to the fork again. He slowly inched into the right path, feeling his way through. He couldn't see anything. 'Luna? Luna...?' He called as he worried where she could be. There wasn't much room to move. Where could she have gone? He sighed and pushed on, hoping he was on the right path as he went deeper into the mine.

Luna was looking through the endless halls to find her friends. She knew Geoff was in front of her... or behind her. Now she was unsure of where she was now. What was happening. Then before her, was her Nightmare. Standing in her dark armor and evil version of her aetherical mane. She fell the floor in terror wanting this day to just end.

Geoff regretted leaving Celestia. He was blind and lost. He came to a more open room at the end of the hall. 'Luna?!' He yelled as he felt his way around the room. It was circular and had two other doors. 'This place is a maze...' He mumbled. He straightened himself and ran through the first door he felt. Even if it wasn't right, running should make up enough lost time.

Luna was frightened beyond comprehension. Then she heard a voice. It was Geoff. With hope she began to run to the voice in hope that she could reach him. Then she came to a halt. Before her was Geoff. The human was in half. His lower part on the bottom and his other one was hanging from the top. Luna looked in horror. Then Geoffs head twitched and jutted to look at the princess of the night.

"You did this to me Luna. This whole mess is your fault. You could have gone to retrieve the other item, but no. You wanted the mask. Now look. We're all. Going. To die because of you."

She backed away and began to run down the other way, the illusion disappearing behind her. Tears pouring from her eyes.

 

(I'll bring this encounter to an end soon, okay.)

(I'm just having Geoff run around hopping Luna finds him. You end it though.)

Geoff moved through the dusty mine. He felt genuinely scared. He was alone in an abandoned mine, filled with spirits, looking for his only friend. He walked through the corridors, feeling the walls as he walked. He hoped Celestia and Aaron were doing ok. His job was to find Luna and get out. He came to another fork. He sighed in frustration and slumped against the wall. It was set up. Him and Luna would die in this mine. Alone.

 

'Lluna!' He yelled in a final frustrated attempt.

Luna came barreling down one of the hallways and came face to face with Geoff unscathed by any illusion. Though he did look saddened. Luna approached him cautiously.

"G-Geoff."
Tears were streaming down her face. She prayed it was the real one.

 

All the while, Aaron and Celesstia were fighting of each others fears incarnate.
"This is taking way too long."
"Oh, I'm sorry, I would show my annoyance but I'm fighting off a shadowy po-"

He never got to finish that sentence. The image of Sombra threw the human off the edge of the bridge sending him toppling to his doom.

"Aaron!"

Celestia couldn't help her friend. She was alone once more.

Geoff shot up at the voice. 'Luna?' He said as he looked up. She was crying. 'Luna, are you ok?' He asked as he stood up. He brushed some dust off of him and went over to the princess. 'Are you hurt?' He asked, checking over her. She didn't seem to be hurt, which relived Geoff to some degree.

Luna approached him cautiously and moved her hoof to press against Geoff. It didn't vanish at her touch. He was real. Her smile grew and embraced him.

"We are most relieved to find you once more noble Geoff. Please, do not leave us again."

 

Aaron awoke taking in some breath. He didn't know where he was. Looking around he saw the others. They looked dazed and they were walking around in circles. What the heck was happening her?

 

Luna and Geoff sat with their backs to the wall. Heads held low.

"So. THis is where we shall meet our end. To be honest I always imagined going a different way. But, I don't get to do this alone."

She looked to the human besides her. She was happy.

"Noble Geoff. We have... a proposition for you?"
