Geoff looked up at Luna. 'Let me hear it. I know I won't refuse.' He said tiredly. He sat there with Luna slumped against the wall. He had resigned to being in here a long time ago. He was just enjoying being with Luna. 'Besides. Refusing wouldn't even be worth it.' He mumbled as he liked around the dark room.

"Well, I've been alone for my whole life, and I really like you. nd since I don't see us getting out of this situation anytime in our future, could you pretend that we were... together."
Luna was nervous.

"I know it may seem odd, to love another species not your own. But if we are to die here, I would have peace knowing I had some po- someone who cared about me at least one point in my thousand years that wasn't my family. Would that be to much trouble to ask?"

Geoff looked at her oddly. He smiled. 'I really like you too.' He said with a warm grin. 'I accept your proposition.' He added as he closed his eyes and lay back. 'I feel similar. At least someone who wasn't my sister cares about me. That makes me feel better at least.' He sighed with relief.

Luna looked to her human friend. A soft smile forming on her face. She wouldn't be alone in this. She had finally found peace of mind with this human. And if she were to die here, she would not regret a thing today. She moved closer to Geoff and lay next to him.

 

Aaron was looking around this odd place. The others were being odd. Luna and Geoff were lying next to a pile of bones, though to them it looked like something else. And Celestia was crying her eyes out in the corner, mumbling to herself. But what caught his attention was the pedestal in the center of the chamber. And on that pedestal was what they were seeking. Aaron approached the mask to get a better look at it. It was pure white, and had a reflective quality to it. It looked to be made of ivory, but he wouldn't know that for sure. He looked behind him and saw the exit. To his surprise, it was just a cave. This wasn't a mine shaft, it was always a cave. The mask must have spun an illusion around them when they got close to the entrance way.

Geoff hugged Luna. He was feeling fine already thanks to Luna. He smiled. He was at peace for the first time since Chickentooth. The first time since his friends had left him. First time really ever. He had a huge dumb grin on his face. Even being stuck in this mine he felt better than ever.

Luna felt his embrace. Though he didn't have a coat, he was still pretty warm. She wrapped her wing around him and returned his affection to him. She saw his grin and it was spreading across her face as well. The thought made her giggle a bit.

 

Aaron was approaching the mask, his hands reaching out to retrieve this object that has caused much pain. He gave it a small touch. A sensation went through him. As if it was raw fear coursing through him. He had to end this cycle. Throwing caution out the window he grabbed the mask and as expected, a torrent of fears, doubts, and his uncertainties were amplified and began to course through his body. And in his mind, a horror he could not think of on his own. His imagination amplified, he saw into the fear of his mind itself. The illusion around the others began to fade as they slowly returned to reality. Aaron brought the mask to his face, arms struggling to hold this object of immense power. And with a final jut of his arms. The mask was upon his face. The illusion broke and the others were regaining their footing. The horrid sensation was gone. Now he felt only peace> He slowly turned to the others, with the mask still on his face, waiting for them to come back to their senses.

Geoff opened his eyes as Luna have a small giggle. He just smiled.

 

An odd sensation washed over him. The room...disappeared. He looked around confused as a cave appeared around him. A light shine through the entrance. He saw a human form in the center. Celestia was crying in the corner.

 

'Aaron...? Celestia...?' He called in a confused voice.

Aaron saw them through the mask. Celestia stopped crying to see what had happened. She was free of the mask's power. They all were. Though, Aaron saw something else. Through the mask he could see what they feared most. Not wanting to invade their privacy, he looked to the floor, but to them, he was looking them over.

"Aaron... I-is that you?"

Luna was looking to her sister and the masked figure. It was indeed Aaron, and he was wearing something.

"Hello, Celestia. Glad to see you're okay. As you two as well."
Aaron brought off the mask to show his face and his smile of relief.

"Now... who's all for getting the hell out of here?
"We are. Geoff and I have been through tartarus and back."
"Agreed. I don't really want to remain here any longer."

'Im not staying another damn minute here. Let's go.' Geoff agreed. He stood up and looked around. It really was just a cave. The mask had fooled them all. 'How did it...' Be mumbled as he moved to the cave entrance. He stuck his head out but shrieked his eyes. It was brighter than he remembered.

They all looked at the outside. The sun was still out. It felt like hours but it was only a few minutes. They were all releaved that this little adventure was done with. Now they could sleep in peace knowing this horrid thing was in the right hands. Luna  looked to her friend and nuzzled his neck.

"Thank you, Geoff."

Celestia wanted to crack a joke but she was exhausted. Aaron however was transfixed on the mask. He rather liked it a bit. It was actually kind of cool.

"So, where to next?

"WE take a train back to Canterlot. From there we can sleep in their and be on our way."

"You have trains? Then why have we been walking this whole time?"
"Because Luna and I enjoy traveling the country side. WE also have wings, but yet you never bothered to ask us why we don't fly their."
"I felt it was a little awkward to ask for a ride."
"So be it."

Geoff felt Luna muzzle him and smiled. He moved outside and looked around. It looked similar. He was still confused, but it didn't matter anymore. Everyone seemed to he fine. 'Anyone hurt physically? I know we're all a bit...shaken.' he asked, looking over everyone. They seemed alright.

Luna looked up to Geoff.

"We should all be fine physically. Unless we ran into anything in our delusions. If not, we should all be fine, with the exception of some exhaustion."

Luna looked to her sister.

"Tia, What is our next course of action?"
"Like I said. Return to Canterlot."

The group were mere feet from the train station and were about ready for a nice. ride back to the capital city.

'To Canterlot it is then.' Geoff said tiredly. Luna was right. He was exhausted. He dropped the last bits he had onto the table and grabbed tickets for all four of them. He moved to the nearest car and slumped into the first seat. He lay his head against the window as he tried to get some sleep.

Luna laid next to her friend Trying to fall asleep. Celestia followed suit. But not Aaron. He was too busy observing the mask. His fascination was focused entirely upon it. What other strange artifacts were out there. He didn't really care. All he wanted to do was look this thing over. In a state of shear curiosity, he placed it on his face once more. There was a small tingly sensation. Not a bad one, just a small tingle. Like when you're leg falls asleep. He began to look through the cart they were in. Sun down was approaching fast approaching fast. Aaron looked to the sleeping friends and he saw something. He could see their dreams.

 

Celestia was dreaming of a... giant cake. He wasn't going to question it. He then turned to Luna. Her dreams were unexpected, yet they kinda were. She was dreaming of her friend Geoff. He then set his sights on Geoff. He couldn't get a glance so he went a little closer. But before he knew what happened, Aaron had slipped himself into his companions dream realm.

Geoff sat in the car talking to the driver. She looked familiar, but he couldn't place exactly who she was. He went to ask, but couldn't. She was talking with him casually as the drove. Geoff was confused. He heard a screeching noise and a scream as his vision wa blurred and he was thrown forward. Pain shot through his body as he felt various cuts, bruises, and gashes appear on him. He sat stuck again this door as the blue SUV drove away, it's front barely touched. He moved his head to the left. He saw the woman's face, bloody and disfigured. He wanted to vomit. It was limp and horrible. He tried to move or yell for help, but he couldn't. He sat transfixed on the body. He heard a scream.

 

Geoff started awake. He looked around and sighed. 'Its just that again.' He mumbled before trying to not think about the dream.

Aaron watched as Geoff's dream played out before him. It was a car wreck and he could see Geoff. The look on his face was harrowing. However, Aaron felt a force. Geoff was waking up and the mask brought him to reality. Went to his bed before Geoff could awaken fully. His attention then went to Luna. He began to focus on her dreams and within seconds, Aaron left his body and sent his conscious into her dreams. He found Luna sitting in a field with Geoff. The two were laughing. and Aaron began to approach them.

Geoff couldn't get the dream out of his head. It usually bothered him, yes, but never like this. He figured playing it out so soon after...meeting...her corpse might have made it stick worse. He looked over at Luna as she slept. He at least had her. She seemed fine so Geoff didn't dare bother her. He looked out the window, hoping to get some kind of entertainment to change his thoughts.

Aaron was now looking down at Luna and fake Geoff. He wondered if he could interact with them.

"uh, hi Luna."
She looked up with a smile on her face.

"Ah, sir Aaron. So wonderful to see you. Have you come to join my lover and I for a romantic picnic."
"No I was ju- wait what?

She began to nuzzle fake Geoff. It was falling into place and he needed to get out of here soon. Before it got too personal.

"My love and I. We're on a date. Would you care to join us?"
"Uh, sorry Luna. I just came to check on you. Just to see how you were doing."
"Oh. Well, we thank you. Be safe, my friend. Now, where were we?"
Fake Geoff said something but Aaron was too busy running from them.
"Getmeoutgetmeoutgetmeout."

And with a flash, Aaron was back in his body. What that whole scene was about, he didn't want to intrude upon. He would just leave her to her fantasies.

Geoff saw Aaron, well, his reflection in the window, jolt. He turned to his friend. 'Hey Aaron, you ok? You just...jumped there. Something scare ya?' He asked with a small smile. Arron seemed slightly dazed but Geoff just took that as exhaustion. They were all exhausted.

Aaron took the mask off.

"Yeah. I'm fine. Just... experimenting with the mask. don't worry, its nothing dangerous. And it didn't scare me. It just... caught me off guard is all. Nothing more. What about you? Why are you awake so late?"
Aaron patiently awaited for a response.

Geoff shrugged. 'It was nothing. Just...couldnt sleep, that's all.' He sighed. He looked out the window and back to Aaron. 'Alot going on in my head. It was an...interesting day to say the least.' He added. He couldn't stop thinking about what Luna had said, and the dream, and everything else.

"Aye it has."
Aaron looked to the mask. Its figure shown in the moon light. He placed it on his face once more.

"And all because of this little guy."
Aaron pointed to the mask on his face.

"Kinda hard to imagine really. But, I guess that is a thing to expect in this world."

'Yeah, I guess it is.' Geoff agreed. 'That must be one of those scars. I guess this world isn't exactly perfect, but it seems to be mostly ok...' He said before looking at Luna and Celestia. 'They seem to be pretty knocked out. We should be getting to the city soon. It's been a while.' Geoff said as he looked around.

[Mr. Critical 434]

"Aye. But Lets let them sleep until we get there."
Aaron looked to his new friends. Then he got curious about something.

"Hey Geoff. What do you think of Luna. Like what are your feelings towards her?"
He looked to Geoff through the mask. The tingly feeling still coursing through his body.

'Luna's really nice. She's a lot like me. Likes codes, night owl, blah blah blah. I really like her.' Geoff admitted with a shrug. 'Celestia I've never really talked to, and you're curious. I like you. I'd want to know Celestial better though. Perhaps I'll do that one day...' He mused as he looked through his window to the passing trees. 'What about you? What do you think of them?'
