oh no! Rainbow Dash is going to die...

...don't  worry only in my fan fiction that is. I really wanted to kill at least one of the characters off, but I didn't know how our community would respond, so I've written a ' test chapter' to gauge your reactions. If you like it, I'll put it in, if not, I'll wipe it from my hard drive for all eternity. Happy reading!

 

  

As the vast machine lay wrecked, Twilight,Rarity,Fluttershy and Applejack breathed a sigh of relief.However, their optimism was short lived as they heard a round of applause behind them.

'Well done girls, you lived up to my expectations. The greatest piece of Equestrian war machinery and you destroyed it.'

'Gabriel, what are you doing here?' Twilight Sparkle asked. ' And why are you wearing that crown?'

'I'll explain in good time, but to be honest I'm fed up with this deception, Let me see your true form.' And with a click of Gabriel's fingers the four young women transformed into ponies.

'What have you done to us?' Rarity pleaded

'Well you see, every equestrian has in their genetic make up the ability to transform into a biped, I've simply used my powers to transform you back.'

'What are you?' Twilight Sparkle asked.

'haven't you guessed yet, I'm like you, an Equestrian. Well not quite, let's just say I'm more advanced, I come from Equestria's golden past, when we were masters of the multiverse, and I was their ruler!'

' I know who you are now,' Twilight Sparkle responded 'Azrael, but you've been dead the past thousand centuries!'

'That's Prince Azrael to you, and no, reports of my death are a great exaggeration. I was simply sentenced to an eternity of being cryogenically frozen.But now I'm back to reclaim my throne. Unfortunately I knew you girls would try to stop me which is why I released my robot upon this city.'

' you can't do that, Princess Celestia will stop you!'

'Please, Celestia is weak. She may be thousands of years old, but she's lived in peace.

She's never had to kill anybody. Hell, she couldn't even bring herself to kill the greatest threat to Equestria for thousands of years, Nightmare Moon. Just look at what she's made you. Once one of the most powerful civilisations in the Multiverse, you're now living in little more than huts. You've sunk to the lowest ebb. All of you, you're a disgrace to our great past!'

At that, Twilight began to sob.

'Oh,have I upset you. The truth hurts doesn..' Suddenly there was a flash of multicoloured light and Azrael disappeared.

'Rainbow Dash!' Twilight exclaimed.

 

Rainbow Dash grabbed hold of Azrael and flew as fast as she could, throwing him into the side of a skyscraper. 

'Aargh' Azrael cried out as they both broke through a glass pane and landed on an empty floor.

'Well.well, I wondered where you've got to!' He said as he picked himself up off the floor.

Rainbow Dash didn't reply, simply getting herself into her fighting posture.

'Is this really how you want this to go? Okay then'

Suddenly Rainbow Dash launched herself at Azrael.He however easily dodged the attack.

'Rainbow Dash, the fastest pegasus in Equestria. But all those years of ketamine have slowed you down, hasn't it?'

Rainbow Dash launched another attack, but again Azrael easily dodged it, this time landing a well aimed kick which sent her flying into a water feature.

'I'm getting tired of this Rainbow Dash, Fly away now and i 'll let you live'

Think, Rainbow Dash thought, think, then it came to her, the water!

She launched lightning from her fingertips into the water which sent an electrical charge flying around the room, hitting Azrael squarely in the chest, and sending him flying through a wall!

 Wow,she thought, that was strong, as she climbed out of the water feature. 

If she thought he was dead though, she was sorely mistaken.

'That was... Invigorating!'

'Why the hell won't you die?' She said in surprise.

'Ah, she talks! Well the reason I won't die is because i'm an alicorn, in fact I am the first of my kind, I was genetically engineered to be perfect, Rainbow Dash, you can't kill me, though you're welcome to try'

'My pleasure,' she shouted as she again threw herself at him. He again dodged her attack and produced a short sword from his sleeve which he used to slash Rainbow Dash's back.

'Argh' she cried out as she fell to the floor. There was a flash of light and Rainbow Dash transformed into her pony self.

'Please..' She whimpered as Azrael knelt down beside her.

'We call that the death flash, all equestrians just before they die, transform back into their original selves. You're beyond help, don't worry, I'm not heartless, I won't let you suffer.'

Rainbow Dash looked up helplessly as Azrael placed his sword above her heart

'Forgive me' Azrael asked as he plunged his sword into Rainbow Dash's body.

She let out one last sigh as the life seeped out of her body.

'Such a waste' Azrael remarked and then said a short prayer in old Equestrian 

'May your soul reach the lands of our ancestors.'

He then turned to leave toward the elevators, but before he reached them the doors opened to reveal two beautiful women.

'Princess Celestia and who is this, you must be Princess Luna'

Hmm, I think the fandom would be in complete mayhem with having one of the main characters killed off. Maybe there is a reason for this, a damn good reason hopefully.  But this is pretty risky, so be careful.

These fan fictions are common, but I at least am getting really sick of Rainbow Dash being the one who always dies. Pick someone else for a change.

I've never killed off a main character myself, at least not shown in-fic. In my series The day the sun died all of the mane six but AJ and Twilight are dead, but that was due to normal causes, it takes place in the future. (AJ is like Granny Smith levels of old and not plot relevant however.)

 

If killing them is fic necessary don't feel afraid to do it, I suppose. Just know you probably will get a decent amount of hate for it.

Rainbow Dash is a character who very similar to Achilles or Spartak - persons who died a heroic death. Fanfic and drama are inseparable elements. So, if you need to kill smb from mane 6, I think that Rainbow it's a best choise for dramatism. (but I'll choose Twilight, because I love her a little more)
