I didn't see a thread for this, so I figured I'd start one.

 

Anyone else going to see the new Robocop coming out next week? I know I am. I'm a big fan of the original and gotta admit that when I first saw the costume I thought it looked terrible. But, it grew on me as the previews looked better and early reviews sound good. Even as a 7.0 on imdb so far. So yeah, I'm excited. Been too long since Robocop was on screen and this is sounding like it will be a good movie.

I've heard some good things about the Robocop series, so I'm happy to see my three favorite actors in this movie together. This is going to be one blockbuster to remember!

I hate to sound like an old bitter nerd (Especially since the original movie came out before I was born), but there's NO way the reboot can live up to the original. The original was a dark satire, and it was vulgar and excellent. The new one is PG-13, and they're cutting out all of the satirical (Read: Good) parts of the movie to make it another dumb blockbuster.

Well, even with the good parts cut out it could still hold up a little just not to the original's standards.

RoboCop is virtually a walking tank with a very simple set of software, and was borne of a tragic incident in which Murphy lost his life and family, not a cyborg ninja who never really lost anything and is out to settle a grudge match. Sorry, but this movie isn't RoboCop at all. It has nothing to do with RoboCop just like Abrams' two latest Star Trek movies didn't even bear a passing resemblance to Star Trek.
