Embers looked around, only a few ponys were up, and most of them were just staring at the field. He knew that this was the only way, they must fight.

 

Sapphire smiled as she pulled out a book and opend its cover, it had been along time since she had read, and she was happy to do it

She looked back to the stallion

"I don't know...i think that what we're doing is even worse..."

She looked again to the battlefield,but she couldn't see it more time

Is this. our destiny?To fight and die...for nothing?

She left the battlefiels.The simple sight of it hurted her more than anything.

Then she saw another mare.She was reading a book...a book...since the beggining of the war,getting a book was more and more hard...

Then Lightwings talked to that mare

"How..how did you got that book?"

Sapphire smiled as she looked at her book, it seemed such a crazy thing to read, but hey, she had nothing else to do.

 

Embers walked out of the camp, he grabbed his rifle and looked around. He still couldnt see anything, apart from a few shapes going around, and he was sure they were just rabbits

Incog. stood up and walked into the camp, all of the guards had put away their guns except for one. 6 and T had went into the general's tent. D had sat by the fire. Incog. decided to sit on a crate and pulled out his ninjato. He pulled out a small combat knife and began sharpening his ninjato.

 

Times began walking towards the Lunar general's tent. He walked in and it was the general from before. "oh Captain Hay, How do you like your new team."  Times looked at the general, "Yes I do, they seem acquitted at the least, But that is not why I am here, Here see for yourself" The general picked up the letter and read. Times pushed up his face guard so the general can see his face.

The general looked at Times "This isn't good, I want you and your team to take a  cannon to the fort, Find a hill that is well hidden and fire on the Celestial troops" Times put down his face guard and said "yes sir" Times walked out and went to the overlord. " Commander Overlord, come with me I need someone to pull the cannon." Times said as he signaled him to follow

Embers yawned as the ponys around him moved, he pulled out a piece of paper and started righting, not really knowing what else to do.

 

Sapphire wonderd around the camp, then slowly out onto the field. She found a small flower and took it, smileing as she looked at it

"Come on, I can't pull a 12 pounder and the ammunition by myself." Times said. "that's an order!" Times said as he began walking to where they kept the cannons. We're going to quicklime shots, Canister shots, and normal cannon balls. Times thought to himself before looking back to Overlord. Times readjusted his special flintlock.

"Sir! It's time for your shift" The soldier waited for a moment.

"Sir?" The young recruit walked into Atlas's tent.

"Where is he?" He noticed an open letter on the bed. His curiosity told him to read it. No. If he was caught he could get in big trouble. But... One peek couldn't hurt.

 

Dear, Soldiers of Celestia's army

 

I'm am writing to you considering the attack on a fort nearby. I have heard our troops plan to slaugter everypony in it. I am disgusted to be part of an army whho would do this. Have the rules of war gone out the window? I will have no part in this. Therefore I have fled the camp. I have not joined Nightmare Moon. My alligance is up for grabs... But I will not join this army to slaughter ponies.

The soldier grabbed the letter and ran to the general's tent.

"Sir!"

 

He was glad be brought some civilain clothes with him. Atlas was well behind Lunar lines now. He had his rifle, a knife, some water, his fez, and a coat. He could pass of for a civilain easy. Where to first? Back across the border was a no. He was now a wanted pony. Where? Zecora! Atlas flew just above the tree tops to her hut.

Times rolled his eyes and  looked and called for sapphire to come over to where he was "Sapphire, can you lend a hoof!" Times yelled. He waited for here to respond and looked out to where she had wandered off to. Times looked at the watch that he never removed, He has had it since he was a colt and it still fit him.

Sapphire walked over and helped, sighing as she put her book down on the way there, walking back into the camp was sad, and she stuck her flower into her hair as she walked over to help pull it

 

Embers wrote, long, not really knowing what about, he would find that out later

Times placed the saddle bag of ammunition on his back. He hooked Sapphire to the cart that held the cannon. "ok you pull I push" Times began pushing on the 300 lb gun. His muscles began to strain. "Why did the only cannon we have here that fired canister shots have to be fixed."

Sapphire looked down at the huge thing and face hoofed before joining him "Gosh dang it...Why must we use this stuff on are own friends?" She sighed as she pulled, thinking about before the war, when she still HAD friends, about her somepony...She sighs and pulled

"those Celestials are not friends, they are planning to kill everypony in fort Neptune." Times pushed harder, the cannon began moving. Times would push harder if he wasn't also using his strength to carry the ammunition. Times through down the ammunition to focus on the cannon. The cannon began moving faster.

Sapphire sighed as she also pulled harder, wondering why she was fighting, then she remberd, to make it more fair for everypony, so you had a chance of changing classes. She slowly smiled, looking at the pony she was working with as the cannon started going faster as she pulled

Times looked at Sapphire noticing she was smiling, then looked back down at the cannon. He started to slip but balanced himself. "Come Times you can do this" He whispered to himself. He began to push even harder. The cannon began moving faster and faster until it stopped moving inch by inch and the wheels began moving in full rotations.

Sapphire yawned as she walked, thinking that she still had yet to get some sleep as the cannon moved faster and fast, she had to move faster to keep up with this pony, her smiled became bigger though, after she thought about the 1 flower she had found out in the field of the dead

She saw again the battlefield,and both Sapphir abd Times pulling cannons.

"Even if we caused this,stopping now will not cause any effect,neither good or bad..."

And with a dettermined face,she flew to the cannon,pulling him,and,therefore,increasing his movement speed.

"It semmed that you needed help"

Sapphire looked up at the new pony who had just flowen in, not really knowing what to do

 

Embers looked through his scope at something, he thought it was a bird. He sighed and sat down, "Stupid vigilantes" He yawned and layed back, looking at the night sky, at all the stars

Atlas flew at his full speed above the trees. A pang of guilt hit him. He couldn't let that massicure go by. Atlas changed direction... Right for the Lunar camp. He let out a sigh as he made his descent. Was this really what hw should do? He coudl easly get shot or thrown in some POW camp. It was for the good of other ponies. He had to. He first saw a group of ponies pushing a cannon. That was probebly his best shot. They wern't ready to fire and not with a large group. He landed right in front of them.

"Don't shoot! I'm here with news that you're going to want to know"

Times looked at the pony "Yes, but who are you" Times said as he continued to push the cannon. Times waited for an answer and began to flap his wings hopefully increasing their speed. He thought to himself what he might see at fort Neptune.

Sapphire stoped, breathing heavaly as she sat down, taking the flower and staring at it. She wonders how something so small, something that would not last, had made it" She smiled and got backed up, wiping the sweat of her brow as she grabbed it "Ok, im ready"

"Oh. It's you again... I was the captain who brought you the dead soldier" He instantly regreted saying that. 

"More importantly, one of your nearby forts are going to get slaughtered if you don't go and get them. The generals plan to slaughter every single soldier in that fort surrender or not! Just had to tell you" He began to back away hoping they wouldn't arrest him.

Times looked at Atlas "Hey, its you. And for your information, we know what do you think this cannon is for." Times said pushing on the cannon with his back because his arms were about to give out. "What you backing away for, you scared we are going to kill you.

"One of your forts near here is going to get slaughtered if they don't get support soon. Celestia's top brass plan to kill everypony in that fort if they surrender or not! I'm AWOL right now to tell you. And let me just say I plan to stay AWOL! I refuse to be part of that"

"Did it look like I was trying to recruit you" Times said as he started to have a harder time pushing. "If anything I'm glad your AWOL, one less pony that will die in this war." Times started to breath heavily. Times went back to pushing with his arms. "I'm surprised you came here I thought you would probably have went to see that family of yours."

"I'm not trying to sign up. I'm tried of war! I was just about to say hi to a friend and head to Cloudsdale to check on family. I just needed to tell somepony about this. I can't sit by while a massacure takes place. I wish you the best of luck out here. I've got to go" He flew off before they could say another word. Maybe he should sign up for the Lunar army.
