The Importance of Mechanics in Writing

Gary Oak made a video about a lot of different aspects about the mechanics of writing. From what publishers look at, to the nitty gritty as he walks through the prelude and part of the first chapter for Past Sins, Gary does a fantastic job not only explaining mechanics, but why they are the way they are.

Not sure how far a thread like this will go, but I'll bite. Past Sins did a lot of things well and did a lot of things half-assed. Ill humor this whole endeavor and watch/critique the video.
