Rarity Paige Belle 1,854 February 27, 2014 Share February 27, 2014 I have Aspergers but have never really met anyone else with the condition apart from a couple of kids I used to teach. I admit that I've found it very hard especially being in the teaching profession when all you want to do is walk out of the classroom when being confronted by an abusive kid. But I can't do that. So how have you coped? 1 Beautiful, Stylish, Fabulous AND evil! What more could you want? (Thanks Kyoshi for letting everyone use your sigs!) ~Silver Essence~ 2,625 February 27, 2014 Share February 27, 2014 I think I might. Not confirmed since I have been diagnosed with anti socialism and depression. But that doesn't stop me to become better for everyone and myself.

GuerrierCosmique 146 February 27, 2014 Share February 27, 2014 (edited) Lol, badly I think. I was in a psychatric hospital for six months, thrown out of school, unemployed, left workplace that I really hated after one month, people tried to trick me into going in a new mental hospital again, my parents threated to throw me out or bring me into a psychatric hospital, I started to cut myself, now I have delusions and huge irrational believes, will either go to school again for another degree, try to find another job now, land in psychatry, get thrown out by my parents, starve and freeze to death or commit suicide. Other people may notice it only during the psychotic episodes, when I believe irrational things about extraterrestrials and associated things, become aggressive without reason and/or loose total connection to reality. I was diagnosed 11 years ago because I had bizarre delusions about aliens, space travel, other planets and strange fictional characters, which recently have returned. Most people here don't know what Asperger syndrome is and accuse me of having schizophrenia, autism, borderline disorder, plain insanity or drug-induced hallucinations Edited February 27, 2014 by Sky Marshal Antanica Alex, Alex! PlunderSteed 1,252 February 27, 2014 Share February 27, 2014 This is all very interesting, and it makes me wonder: why is it that the Brony community seems more populated with people who have this condition and/or other significant issues along the same lines? Shanks 10,816 March 1, 2014 Share March 1, 2014 It sure wasn't an easy road for me, I struggled just to learn to talk, sensory issues used to be so bad that even something like a toilet flushing would have literally screaming in pain learning social cues was a nightmare that often had me inadvertently making a complete ass out of myself and I have been through severe anger issues, equally severe depression (with suicidal thoughts a couple of time in my life) and some other challenges but although I still have a few challenges I got through it all. Each time I had to figure out different ways to cope but there are a few things that have stayed constant, creative outlets such as music, writing and other pursuits help me redirect my negative emotions in a responsible manner. Meditation, self talk and deep breaths helps reduce the likelihood of sensory overload and meltdowns greatly. Small reminders that life isn't all doom and gloom like a certain show about cartoon ponies for example. and counting my blessings can help me keep things in perspective. And there is also remembering what I have gone through and knowing that I could use this to actually help people that went through the same struggles I have and still do as well as their families and educate the general public through my youtube videos as well as this book I intend to publish. AstralAmity 416 March 1, 2014 Share March 1, 2014 I have had Asperger's as long as I can remember, and I feel like I have learned quite a bit from it. I have also been diagnosed with signs of anxiety, and I believe that it doesn't help me cope with my Asperger's as it already is. This has lead me to realize something though, that the mind is powerful. The mind can have it's flaws, but Asperger's can also be thought of as an improvement on the mind. Sure... it does lessen your social skills, but it enhances your intellect. It's different for everyaspie, but one way or another you must have something that gives you an ability higher than the average person. From what I see, some people don't realize it yet. I think I have though. I look upon Asperger's not as a curse, but as a blessing. It makes us who we are, and shapes us to be the person we are today. Coping wouldn't be the right word to use, but rather looking in what you can actually do with Asperger's. A very low percent of humans have this diagnosis, and that makes us unique. It's your decision to think if it's a good thing or a bad thing, but I can only say that your perception is what guides your mind to be what it can be. Think of yourself as awesome, and you are awesome. Think of yourself like you are useless, then you perceive yourself to be so. We can change our thoughts though, because we are conscious and not just because of Asperger's. Aspies can realize this fact sooner though, because our mind works differently. By the way, here is a thread that might be useful to you... http://mlpforums.com/topic/82501-aspiebronies-help-topic/
