What is the most emotionally scarring game you've ever played?

I think I'm going to go with Shadow Man for the N64. It's not really the scariest game in terms of content, but the fact that I played it when I was like 8 definitely played a big role in me being scared of it.

The only thing that really comes close to that would probably be EarthBound. I had heard the ending was really weird and that the tone of the game changed drastically, but even knowing that did not prepare me for when I actually played through it. It may not be that "scary", but it is definitely unsettling.

Silent Hill Shattered Memories is emotionally scarring for me in terms of horror. I have a huge fear of using only a flashlight in darkness, and I'm overall scared of the dark, and since there's monsters chasing you, it just all adds up to be too much for me. I know a lot of people don't like the newer Silent Hill games, but I thought Shattered Memories was certainly interesting, especially with the use of the Wii remote instead of a standard controller.

Dust: An Elysian Tail is an emotionally scarring game for me, the ending left me in tears, which no game has ever done. Halo 4 came close to it though.

I was dead until the moment I met you. I was a powerless corpse pretending to be alive. Living without power, without the ability to change my course, was akin to a slow death.
