Because the Elements = banishment, and Sombra's curse on the Empire = banishment being a bad idea this time.

The Tick, though mostly the live action Tick series since that is what I have watched recently. I didn't get the humor, it didn't make much sense to me... until I realized it was one big meta humor joke about superheroes. With such everything clicked and I can enjoy the series without taking it too seriously.

It has not been, had not been, established that she can even do that. Yes she has teleported herself just fine, though notably mostly just short distances. There has I believe been only one instance where Twilight teleported a good distance and did such blindly.

 

So no, teleporting in not as much an answer as some fans make it out to be. Now are there still instances where she could use teleport but doesn't? Sure but there have been plenty of people, myself included, that did not consider the obvious during a stressful situation,

Pinkie Pie's cutie mark is balloons.  Now we all know that it's supposed to be linked to her love for parties, but I think there's a potential stealth pun there.  While she has her moments of lucidity and whatnot, Pinkie Pie is generally an "airhead."  *rimshot*

 

Actually, now that I think about it, I do wonder why the balloons are yellow and blue.  I mean, in the meta sense it's a simple matter of either being aesthetically pleasing or an arbitrary choice.  The thing is, I'm sure there could be a good in-universe explanation if you thought about it hard enough.

NMM = moon = sky = Heaven.

Discord = stone = ground = Purgatory.

Sombra = ice = underground = Hell.

If ponies can be sent to the moon (And SURVIVE) , why didn't Princess Celestia send guards to the moon once in a while to ensure that Nightmare Moon did not escape? Or you know, at least ensure she was still there? Considering she knew how long the banishment would last, it wouldn't have killed her to send somebody, say, 999.9 years into her banishment to make sure Nightmare Moon wasn't doing something incredibly evil.

Twilight hasn't gotten as much screentime this season, so it would seem. I remembered that was the case in Season 2 as well, and then I remembered why. In season 2, instead of giving her an equal number of episodes focusing specifically on her, they gave her the opening and finale for her episodes. Which means something stupendously huge is coming, no doubt...

Perhaps unintended but one point of Fridge Brilliance that another discovered was this: what is the answer to life, the universe, and everything? Now those that know of, have read or watched, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy offers that the answer is 42. How many points are there in Twilight Sparkle's cutie mark and what can it be said it represents? What number does Twilight wear during the race of the Running of the Leaves?

The point is actually that The Meaning of Life equals Friendship but yes that could also be said.

Remember though that Nightmare Moon was banished INTO the moon and also Celestia can't send ponies to the moon anyway because it was the Elements of Harmony that decided what needed to be done. Consider for a moment how the 'punishment' is different for each villain of the show and the fact the Elements of Harmony only work through the bonds of friendship.

 

This can also explain why Twilight and friends were able to redeem Luna, removing the darkness controlling her, while Celestia could not. The princess' bond was with her sister, her greatest friend, as such though she was using the Elements of Harmony though her friendship was broken. She had no control over what the Elements of Harmony was doing and was simply using the only answer she had to save her subjects and Equestria.

 

There was no way Celestia could have sent somepony to check on Nightmare Moon, to see if her sister Luna was okay, and all she could do was wait and hope for new bearers of the Elements of Harmony to be found and fix what she would not. Celestia had not the power to save her sister after the transformation took place and as such all she could do was try and reason with her sister and try and find her within the monster what now attacked her. When that failed she went to the Elements of harmony.

Why didn't Discord just heal himself after the Tatzlwurm made him sick for real?

 

Maybe the sickness just made him feel too s***ty to use his powers. After all, do you feel like doing any heavy lifting when you're sick?

More a stealth pun than fridge brilliance, but in Rainbow Rocks, Trixie apparently only performs one song both times she's on stage. Which would make her a one trick pony.
