I don't know about y'all but I spend a LOT of my time on YouTube! So I lazily looked around the forum for a topic like this and didn't find one in five minutes so sorry if it exists.

 

I make videos about random stuff and just try and make people laugh and all that jazz so here is where you can give a little description of your channel and post a link to the channel/video!

I like YouTube. I got into it a little while ago. I posted a few just meme videos that I made, that weren't really popular, cuz I was new. But then I made one video that ended up getting on EQD which was a goal of mine to do, so I was very happy about that. I hope on making more like it, and getting on EQD again. There's already one I've been working on for months (part cuz it took a lot of research, and I've been busy), another I might do when the new EQG movie comes out (basically a sequal to the first), and also I've had other ideas I might do sometime. But guess I'll see how it works out in time. Recently I've just been having fun on the site, and checking out what other people do.

Hi everyone! I just recently started a channel of my own where we do all sorts of things like reviews, top 10's and random discussion topics. I would really appreciate any support or criticism and I know the brony community is really good at both of those things lol. Here is our first real video. I do ask that you watch the channel update/follow-up video on my channel after viewing this one where i address some of the issues I had with the video and what I plan to do in the future about it. Also, looking for artists for various artistic needs. Thank you in advance!

this is what I think.

You should a fragment of the episode that you are talking about.

Like:you started to talk about dragonshy. You should put a fragment of that episode and it might be better if the fragment has something to do with what you are talking about.

Like, if I talk about that Fluttershy beat that chicken snake in: "The Stare Master" I would put a fragment in the show where she masters that thing.

 

When I talk about how stupid(my opinion)Diamand Tiara can be, I would put a fragment of her that I hate the most!

 

Also maybe a bit more effects in sound or video.

Like when you are thinking and you say: give me a little bit. you could let a bit appear on the screen(the money in equestria) ans also make a some sort of sound that fit's by the word "money".

keep it interesting, if I have to watch 20 minute's long to 2 guy's sitting on a couch  and all they do is talking... adventually I'll get bored.

 

So, to make it short:

put fragments of the episode you are talking about in the video.

Put some funny things like sound effects or joke's in it with special effects

keep it interesting

 

It's no problem if you disagree everything I just wrote

also, I am tired so I might made some mistake's while writing this (grammar, words or anything else)

Thanks for the feedback but there are some problems I have with your suggestions. As far as using clips from the episodes, I've seen a lot of weird copyright claims and unnecessary strikes against accounts for small stuff like that and I just don't want to risk having any of that happen to me. Also, I just don't have the technology right now to properly edit videos. I'd imagine video quality and production value will get better over time, so I ask you to critique the actual content of the video. In regards to making the videos shorter, I did address that issue in my follow-up video I mentioned, so if you did not watch that one, I urge you to give it a look before you make any more suggestions. I know I spent most of this post completely dismissing your criticisms lol but I really do appreciate you taking time out of your day to watch my videos.

well, if you want your own computer, you(you won't like the sounds of this)need a job and a own room would be even better so no one can interupt you while making a video.

 

And before you get a webcame, you should think:

Do I really want my face on the internet?

Does my camera have a mic?(becuase, if you are using a mic and your camera also has a mic and you use them both, your voice wil be doubled (the fun has been doubled) so in other words, your voice will be recorded twice(THIS IS OUR CANTERLOT VOICE!(Luna eclipsed))

 

also, it's the matter or you want to do a talk show or video game's playtrough. for gamers:Iwould reccomend Fraps. it's just 20 dollars and it's pretty handy.

but If you are going to do things like, I don't know something like smosh, you'll need a good camera and a program for effects like Adobe After Effects for lasers or other effects.

 

it's all about what you want to post on youtube.

Well i make mlp music and so part of that is doing your own videos. Sometimes that's doing a simple image but a fun anaimated background for variety.

 

But when i can I'd rather do something that's more of a multimedia pmv if it fits with the song with some footage

 

Regarding the copyright thing with Hasbro and MLP. You certainly CAN use footage in your videos and they will not take them down, The Exceptions to this ARE when its a full episode you're uploading. Those they often will take down as they're competing against the itunes downloads which they sell (which is what these videos are often directly ripped from anyway). If Hasbro went after copyrights agressively we would not have this fandom or a significant youtube presence at all.  

 

Youtube will likely detect that its an mlp clip as soon as you upload now that youtube has autodetection software that will detect tv, movie, and song clip detection. You can simply sign off and say "yes, i dont own that" and then it releases any steps against that upload for the time being. Hasbro is lenient as i said so they won't opt for the takedown. Other copyright holders may go for a video pull (and then it won't be available for viewing in a partcular country) or they may simply be content with putting an ad to itunes for people to buy the track if its a music track for example  Thus making your illegal upload an ad for them selling their legal product which works for everyone. Again its your choice what you want to risk. I've got maybe 15 inital flags on my videos/pmv's and they're all still online and not in any jeopardy and there's no actual strikes on my account. I'm in good standing.

 

Second, regarding software, I use Sony Vegas to make my videos. Their HD renders (i use 1920x1080p) and ease of use really get me the quality sound and video i want. I know other musicians who use Adobe After Effects so make visualizations but i honestly find that program so powerful and complex that i cant figure it out without investing a whole lot more time. I'd rather stick with Vegas for now. Sadly Window Video MAker is pretty much a joke so i cant recommend that although i used it when i first started (which i regret).

 

Anyway good luck to those who are making their own vids. Hopefully some of the advice i gave helps you a little. It's better to make the best vids you can now than start a year from now when its too late to fix what you put out previously.

If you want to make a video outside, I would try to find a medium good camera with a good mic..

 

You should take a good mic in the camera so you can be heard over several meters.(maybe, even miles)

Because of the movements and because the distance between you and the camera changes the hole time it would become a little difficult to hear you wich make's it important to have a good mic in the camera, so you can be heard well.

So you should concetrate on a medium quality camera with good mic.

Or you can take a good quallity camera and a mic like news reporters have.

 

But if you are going to make video's inside your own home, you should look for a camera with high pixel capture. Inside a house there is less light then outside(at day) wich make's ythinks harder to see and less pixellized so you should look for high camera quality instead of mic. and since you are doing it in house, there won't be much distance between you and the camera and there won't be much distance changes between you and the camera so the voice will nearly change, You don't have to worry much about the sound then. But you should about the camera, since  in house video's will be more hard to see.

 

But if you are going to make a set up video's(wich means, you are going to write a script and being actor and stuff, you should take a good camera and get a great pc mic. so you can record your voice and paste it into the video. in that case, you should make sure that poeple can't hear stuff from the actuall video.

 

Please, just be a little bit more clear about what you want.

I mean like... animations about how you feel or real life stuff... or.... I don't know, you're just not clear enough...
