Trouble at Sea

*Far across the open sea hundreds if not thousands of miles away from the shores of Equestria...the sun was branching over a proud gryphon Empire...It's main tower, home to their ruler Empress Nortica, shot forth like a dagger cutting through the clouds, roughly shaped like a purple and white cliff face, covered with highlighted jewels and guest balconies. Below the ruleing building, there was another host of rock like homes and large trees, playing homes to the vast citizens of gryphon kind.

 

But unlike any normal day in the Gryphon Empire, today was an omnious occassion. The city below was decorated with purple fabric, lineins of gold and silver alike, brandishing the Empire Crest of a golden gryphon. The crowd of gryphon and even dragons below, cheered to the spiraling tower...as movement began to emerge on its main announcment balcony...their ruler...Empress Nortica...was here...ready to proclaim the speech to begin the celebration.*

 

Lady and Gentle Gryphons! Tis' a glorious day for our Empire, as we play host on this momentous occasion! *Announced Empress Nortica of the Eastern Gryphon Empire.*

 

*She stood high above the royal balcony that observed the Empire's prime city of the gryphon rule, as her citizens cheered of her proclaim, while very important but small pony guests stood back behind her, waiting for her speech to continue. Dressed in her royal purple garments with the crest of the Empire, her golden sharp pointed crown stood high on her head, she was both powerful and beautiful to witness with her royal dark violet blue feathers and crest.*

 

Today is the day we celebrate the first year anniversary of our peace treaty with our humble neighbors the wyvern dragon clans of the North, with one of their Matriarch leaders, Prya!

 

*She stepped back as a large red wyvern female dragon just flew up from above the castle to land on a customized perch that over sees the city next to the balcony. The great leader Prya gave out a mighty roar along with a burst of her fire breath as a proud and entertaining demonstration to the gryphon crowd. They all cheered with excitement and awe.*

 

Hurray Prya! *Nortica continued,* but that is not all that we celebrate my citizens! Today on this worthiest of days…We also give thanks and praise to her ascension…power, and rule…we give thanks to a pony who not only strived to bring peace and harmony to our great peoples, but who sacrificed everything so that love and unity would prevail! A pony who made this day possible so that our people could co-exist with the dragon kingdoms of the North. A pony…that I am proud to say, is considered mine and lady Prya's most trusted advisor… Lady and gentle Gryphons! Ponies and Dragons of all! I present to you… Princess Lightning Bliss, Alicorn of Unity!

 

*The great purple gryphon happily stepped aside and bowed in respect as a small, shy white alicorn pony stepped forth, dressed in a pink royal gryphon dress, with a golden neck brace color to emphasize her black mane with rainbow highlights, holding up long silver drapes highlighed in gold and showing the crest of the Empire as well. Her horn protruded proudly forward through her hair as her long ears dropped back. She nervously approached the balcony's banner to oversea the Empire's citizens and gulped a little at the sight at how many beings there were for her to see as she slowly lifted her silver shoed hoof up and waved humbly to the crowd below, smiling nervously. She looked to her right to see Prya her mother-inlaw smiling down upon her as well...even though she was happy to see the red wyvern leader...it seemed to add to her pressure*

 

Would you like to say something Princess Lightning Bliss? *Nortica whispered into her ear gently, but it still made the pony jump up a bit.*

 

Oh um… should I? *Bliss asked nervously as she turned back to her friends and husband, all standing confidently behind her, also dressed in fine attire.*

 

Go on sweety, say something to them, *her strong shape shifting dragon guardian and husband nodded to her while smiling.*

 

Um…ok, *she took a deep breath, then turned her attention back to the crowd.* A long time ago, citizens of…this great Gryphon Empire…I was but a shy pegasi mare, only seeking love in my heart and a partner to live my life with me. That journey, to which has brought me here today, gave me new insight to the importance of what it means to love your brother or sister…whether they be of pony, dragon or gryphon. I learned that it does not matter what you are, or who you are, but what you choose to be and who you choose to be with that matters, regardless of what others think!

 

*She then turned to her husband and motioned him to come and stand next to her, as he did, she continued*

 

Citizens of the Gryphon Empire, my husband….is a shape shifting dragon, my lover, and my protector. I fell in love with him, because he saw something in me I didn't know I had…just as I saw something in him. Our union…was once viewed as an abomination and outrage amongst our kinds…and it brought about pain, death and segregation… I have learned from this fact, that if we don't unite together as one, then we are all doomed to the forces of darkness and hate…But I see now, we have nothing to fear! Because we are all here together on this day…Friends…united…as ONE!

 

*The entire crowed cheered at her climax, screaming and hollering from far below as she and Nights turned away and headed back inside the tower, accompanied by the Empress and two royal gryphon guards, and her friends, Seth, NightStrike, Polairs, Skylar and Volt.*

 

I shall speak with you later mother before I head back with you to visit our home lands? *Night Lights called to his mother Prya just before she took off.*

 

Indeed so! I look forward to speaking with you my son, it has been awhile! *She spread her wings and took to the air, making the crowd roar as she did, circling the tower to add in one last thing before her decent down* I'll be in the royal gryphon wine cellars below! It's the largest place they have for me after all!

 

Sounds good mother! I'll be with you shortly! *He waved his hoof at her as she head downward, then turned back, trotting up alongside his white mare.*

 

*Blissy sighed heavily as she followed Nortica into her thrown room, feeling anxious and irritated to get the offered royal garments off herself. She did smile knowing it made her happy that her husband was going back with his mother to revisit his birth place…it had been a long time, since her ascension that the two dragons were able to visit with each other on happier terms. But she was sadden knowing that he wouldn't be coming with her when she and her friends  travel back to Equestria.

 

As she and their guests followed the Empress, they entered a large banquette area, and proceeded to gather some much needed nourishment after a long day of speech and proclamations. After placing a heaping pile of fruits and bread on her plate, she turned to her friends, smiling at them for attending.*

*He levitated his plate filled of various delicious fruits, sushi and other little pastries he had taken from the table in the middle of the room and smiled warmly back the marshmellow alicorn princess before him, and nodded deep in respect before taking a careful bite from the exotic sushi roll with his teeth*

 

It was a fine speech, Blissy! You really spoke like a true royalty and all those griffons and dragons down there loved you for it! That royal dress really suits you if I might say so as well. What my boss Photo Finish back at the Canterlot city would have done to have a picture taken of you in that dress while adressing all the people down there! She must be quite upset once I get back to work that I didn't drag her along, but I'll make that up by bringing her some rare souvenirs from here in the gryphon lands she would definitely love!

 

Anyways, cheers to you, dear Blissy, the ambassador of peace!

 

*He raised his glass of sparkling white wine held in a blue levitation aura respectfully, before taking a gentle sip from it*

"Oh Celestia Oh Luna food! food food and food! and not those K ration! oh my... Bliss... will you mind if.. i .. well eat a bit? i am not used to all of those goods!"

 

Volt said swiftly approaching a table and filling his bag and his mouth with sweet food paying attention of not being seen

 

"umph.. anypmh way" *gulp and trows down* anyway, awesome speech Bliss... damn really.. i couldn't say something better even if i had a litterature degree or one thousand years ahed of me!"

 

he then returned to the table, filing a big glass with red tastty wine holding the bootle with his theeth

 

"heck yes! cheers to the best alicorn, best princess and yet best friend a pony, a griphon, or a mighty dragon.. eh eh... could dream off! to Blissy!"

 

he almost shouted drinking all the wine in the glass and putting it down empty

 

"gulp... this wine... woah... "

*Looks up from his plate of food, piled high with as much as he could possibly fit onto it, a few crumbs fall from his mouth as he looks up to his sister like friend, grinning broadly as their eyes meet, he flicks his mane off his face and speaks* Yeah, that sure was an amazing speech sis... seems like you are really getting used to this whole princess thing  *Takes a sip of the wine and grimaces a little at the taste, drinking it more out of respect than for the taste, he gazes around the huge banquet hall gawking in amazement, he shrinks back in his chair a little feeling totally out of place in the grand hall*

 

*He turns again and grins at Blissy, looking at her affectionately*  I'm really proud of you Bliss, well done

NightStrike looked around the room still quite dazzled. He absolutely loved Gryphon architecture, he had been looking around his eyes full of wonder from the moment they arrived.

 

He looked at his friends besieging the big plate of food, and grinned widely at Bliss. He didn't even know her for that long, but he was extremely happy Volt introduced all of his friends to him. Night had always been quite a lonely pony, and though he loved to be in solitude every once in a while, he discovered that he loved being around with his friends even more.

 

"I have got to say, that was an excellent speech." He said to Bliss levitating a rather exotic looking piece of fruit to himself. He liked trying new things.

 

It turned out to taste terrible. He threw the piece of fruit in something he thought that looked like a garbage can, he was not really sure though. Trying to keep his composure he was hoping that nopony saw the weird faces he made tasting it.

 

He decided that he tasted enough exotic things for today and levitated some food over that looked at least familiar to him. He also didn't drink any wine as he didn't like alcohol in general, he liked to be aware of everything, and alcohol didn't really help with that. So he just tried some juice and enjoyed the meal laughing at Volts silliness.

Set, feeling rather out of place in such an event, looked to Bliss. He gave her a rare smile he had almost forgotten in his life. "I must say, Bliss, you have made your nation proud." The half metalic wolf spoke in a low voice. "As a diplomat,  you hold the power of nations by yur words and actions. It is by your will that these lives are at peace. It is something most honorable to master such a feat. To Bliss; may your reign never seace."

 

As the scarred wolf finished his words, he continued to look around the room in paranoia.Ever since the attack, he never let up his guard. He only atttened becouse it was Bliss who asked.

*She looked to all her friends with her husband firmly pushed up against her side to comfort her. She smiled to see all the familiar faces around her...but felt an overwhelming feeling of being out of place herself...and being put up higher then she should...After a while of nibbling on some sweet bread, listening to what all her friends had to say, she gently grinned them all, and spoke to them each in turn*

My two stallion brothers... *she went up to Skylar and Polaris and nuzzled their noses equally* I'm just...so happy you two and...and all of  you really, were able to come... What you say is kind but if you all haven't shown up...on such short notice... I dunno... *she placed her plate down on the table, seeming to lose her appitite* I don't think I would been able to speak the way I did without the much needed support...

 

*She looked to Volt humorously as well as Wayzer, enjoying the food and drink, making her lighten somewhat* Was the least I could do after all since I sent those invitations out last second... I just...didn't think I'd need to have a corination like this. I just...don't feel like I deserve all this attention. It makes me feel more important than I feel like I deserve... I'm not different...no different then i always was when I was a pegasus...right?

 

You are a Princess now hone... *Nights nuzzled her cheek, senseing her frustration* Its just...part of the program-

 

*She darted a firm eye on her husband, him telling her the truth she didn't want to hear, then looked at Seth...the wolf she come to remember from their vampire situation...and in only a short time it feels, he, along with the rest of her friends, seemed to have changed so much. She came up to the wolf and placed her hoof on his bionic arm* I wish I could have been there...to have prevented this suffering in some way... *she said sensing more then him missing just his limbs...his anxiety was clearly visable*

 

Some Princess I am... can't even keep my own friends protected...can't even stand alone for a small speech to...to a whole...empire of gryphons and... *she started to shake, feeling the overwhelment once more*

 

*He placed a hoof on her shoulder and gave her a hug* Think you really do need this vacation...just as much as I do once this is all said and down.

 

*She hugged him back sobbing into his shoulder* What I want is to get out of this dang dress and rubs...get into my cape and hood...or hell I'd rather go naked in the street with my fat ears blowing then having to stand these outragous garments! *Then it clicked* Did you say me needing this vacation as well as you?

 

*He nodded his head and smiled at her, seeming she wasn't aware of the Nortica's surprise plans*

"what? vacation? yeah last time i had my ody back and Seth lost his half! and we all almost died! yeah i love vacation!" VOlt laughted withput carrying about anything, he was just happy to see all of his friends back again, and.. he was a little boozie

 

"i mean.. Bliss.. you are the most awesome alicorn princess i ever met! well.. the only one! but still the beest! you know what i mean! nopony else deserves to be in your place more than you!"

 

he grab two bootles and hided them in his bag

 

"shtt... do not tell anypony or anygryphon or dragons or aliocorns or princesses eh? ok? ah! "

 

he then almost felt over the wolf hugging him

 

"you look cool like this Seth! no offence but you have all of this attitude! growl snarl! i am the cyborg wolf! ahah! come on friend! it is not the end of the world! i have lived like this for two years, two bloody years, what counts is here!"

 

he pasned the wolf's chest

"your heart, your bucking strong heart and the love you have there! do not forget! never! SOGUYS! i propose another drink for Bliss and her Mighty Husband ah!"

 

he dropped on the floor near Skilar

 

"uh hello there..... i like this party... wanna join this party?"

*She looked at the ominous drunk Dr. Volt then back to her husband, blinking quizically at them both*

 

The drink is all free good Volt, no need to hide it in your bags *giggles* But I appreciate your compliment...even though I still feel out of place being a..."Princess..."

 

But enough about that... what is this vacation your talking about Night Lights???

 

Oh um... I was actually supposed to let Empress Nortica explain it um... *he quickly took to the air high above them all* I'll let you mingle with your friends. You all need to catch up. I'll go speak with my mother Prya now.

 

Night Lights! You get back here right now! *She galloped after him just as he flew out a large open window. Once out he transformed into his wyvern dragon form, all glorious in his blackness, and dived down the tower before she could reach him* Gah...stubborn...Are all males like this?

"vacation? another? uh i'd rather work than have vacations with all of you again!  AHAH guess it is gonna be fun and relaxing.. but it gotta be fun! "

*He smiled silently as Blissy turned around to face and talk with her husband Night Lights, before turning to Skylar next to him and with a brotherly affection he bumbed his forehead with Skylar's and gave a light chuckle, while raising his arm over his shoulder gently*

 

I'm so proud of our Blissy and Nights, Skylie. It's so nice to have an exciting and entertaining distraction from all the work and all that! Have you found the gryphon lands to your liking? I'm so extatic about travelling over the seas to an entirely new continent and meet and entirely different culture compared to ours.

 

*He released his hold over Skylar and turned his head to face all the three other friends Skylar and Blissy had come aquainted some time ago, trotting all over and talking to each other around the serving table*

 

Might have to go get acquainted better with the new friends of yours you two decided to invite to come with us here...

*As polaris bumps his head against his he turns and smiles at his friend before replying* I am so proud of her too, it's so amazing to think how far she has come in the last year  *Takes another sip from his drink and smiles* I have really enjoyed my time here but I'm excited to get a move on and explore the new continent

*He smiled sincerely at the dark blue pegasus as he came to shake his hoof energetically, before taking a sip of white wine from his crystal glass*

 

It's a pleasure to make you acquaintance, Doctor Volt! My name is Polaris, and yes, I've know both Blissy and Skylar for a quite a while now and I cannot be more honored to have met such amazing ponies in my life ever since I left my old tribe to find better life outside the my homeland in the north! From what I've heard, Volt, I take you work as an engineer or something like that? I wish I could be technically gifted, but instead I've found myself being more skilled in the field of survival in the wilds, while eating whatever grows there!

 

*Takes a longer sip from the wine glass and drinks it's contents entirely after the first sip, before placing it back to the table and watched it to be carried away by one of the gryphon waiters that roamed randomly around the room serving folks*

 

Anyways, those days are now behind me and I'm a full citizen of equestrian kingdom now and I work as an assistant to a mare called Photo Finish in the city of canterlot! I'm eagerly looking forward to know you better, Doc. Volt and maybe once we're back in the home continent, I can invite you over to my home in the Canterlot to enjoy some of the most finest wines you've ever tasted in the equestria!

No need to hit yourself, Volt! Everypony has their part to play in the society and do believe you're doing VERY important work, even if that means spending a great deal of time in dark places like the dam mostly alone! You have my deepest respects, since I can only imagine how technical and hard it must be for a pony to be able to keep all the machines running and staring all the monitors all day long!

 

*After his last sentence, he noticed a gryphon waiter carrying full glasses of wine on a silver plater behind Volt and waved him to come over and snatched another glass of wine for him, and the dark blue pegasus in front of him with his levitation magic from the plate*

 

Yeah, I too am quite excited about this 'vacation' I overheard from Night Lights and Blissy, before you came, Volt. I wonder what kind of a vacation it will be though...

"oh well... not like it is an important job... actually only earth ponies and pegasi of cloudsdale are happy about it i guess, all of you unicorns have this fancy magic"

 

he said pointing his hoof at the flying glass

 

"oh well not that i am envious, i would kill m self if i lost these beauties " Volt said rubbing his hoof on his right wing

 

"anyway.. it just provide enough energy for ponyville and the weather control in Cloudsdale.. we developed a wireless power transmission of ener... oh well.. rather boring stuff for not engineers i guess ah! sorry! let's just say i still work for cloudsdale somehow.. luckily not on rainbows" he whispered the last phrase to himself looking away

 

"annnnyway... yeah i am pretty much excited about it too! last time i had a 'vacation' i became a vampire for a while and Bliss too .. so yeah.. this poor wings could really use some relax... awww... a tropical paradise... sun.. without having to clear the sky... yessss.... oh hell.. my brain is dreaming again.."

Seth looked to Volt and gave a nod to his reassurance. The pony was right, even though Seth didn't want to agree with it. He was with friends, and he needed to open himself to them. However, after sealing himself off from the world for as long as he did. it was going to be hard to bring himself back.

 

"Thank you, Volt. And I hope you can forgive me of my actions when we last met." He said, looking to the pegasus. "If I do join you on this 'vacation', I plan not to torture or kill you." He said, attempting to branch out. 'This is going to take practice' the wolf thought.

NightStrike was looking over to Volt, becoming slightly worried. He still remembered his... other side and he didn't want to go trough that again. He better kept an watchful eye on him, making sure he wouldn't drink too much.

 

@@Polaris, 

He walked over to the blue pegasus, also noticing the brown stallion. He gave him a comforting smile: Well hello there, I'm NIghtStrike. It seems I barely know you all, but Volt wanted me to meet his friends so here I am. Just please don't pay that much attention to him, he tends to get a bit too intoxicated. I'm not really and alcohol drinker myself, though I like to try it once in a while it doesn't seem the time for it right now." 

 

Pushing Volt away gently to greet the other pony he extended his hoof, smiling.

*Seeing Lightning Bliss, still standing looking out of the window he quietly walks over, his hooves echoing on the stone floor a little. As he approaches her he gently rubs his side against hers and presses his cheek to her cheek, grinning Wryly* Some day huh sis?  *Gently nudges her before continuing* I can sense that your feeling a little nervous and worn out *Chuckles a little* I don't blame you at all, I think I would have passed out if I had to give a speech in front of all those ponies, public speaking really isn't one of my strong points       

 

*Looks out of the window at the grey clouds rolling above them, a few ravens dart in and out of the stone towers squawking as they went, the light breeze ruffles their mane gently as he turns to her again and smiles lovingly*  Don't worry about night lights, maybe he just needs some alone time right now, as you said us males can be a little stubborn and mysterious *Nips her nose gently* Your a wonderful mare blissy and he loves you, try not to let it concern you too much... anyway i'm sure a good thunder buck will fix him up if he keeps acting like it.... it works for me

Pleasure to meet you too, NightStrike! I am Polaris, a long time friend of both princess Blissy and Skylar. Both of them seem to hold you three in high regard, and anypony who are good friends of them are also friends of mine. It's no trouble at all, I'm not bothered and I respect you being reasonable about your drinking, NightStrike.

 

*He took a sip from glass again, before looking back the unicorn with a smile*

 

Anyways, I didn't quite catch your profession, NightStrike! I can see your cutie mark has something to do with knifes, but that's it. What is it that you do for a living, if I may ask? Even though my cutie mark represents my ability to survive and navigate under the stars back when I lived among my old tribe in the north, but those days are behind me now and I have found a place to live in the equestria and work as an assistant to Photo Finisih in the fashion industry. What I do is mostly paperwork, public relations and reminding her of her schedules and such.

NightStrike grimaced a bit at that last question, looking around the room uncomfortable. He looked at Volt, but in this state he didn't seem to be able to help him with this.

 

"Well I suppose I should tell you now, because you'll eventually hear it anyway." He sighed. "I'm not proud of my past you know, I used to be part of an experiment to make better soldiers." He winced and pointed his head toward Volt. "He used to be the leader of that experiment, until we escaped together from that horrible place. I used to be a royal assassin, involuntarily. I got my mark when I assassinated my first target." He shook his head.

I know how you feel, NightStrike. I never knew my parents and I was forced to be a hunter for my tribe at very young age. The training was cruelling and surviving in the harsh environments of the north was no easy task, as only the most cunning and strongest of whelps could survive the months of being left alone deep within the forests, and the only thing that keeps you alive are the plants and the other animals I had to hunt down with my spear, knife and other self improvised traps. Luckily I was able to survive all the six months alone in the forest and was able to earn my ceremonial hunter's knife that every hunter recieves as they've passed the test.

 

Once I was reached my age of 16, I was called to my tribe's shaman, Nocturnal Rain, who then took me under his cloak and began training me in the art of spell disruption, an ancient art of magic school developed in the older times against the slave armies of King Sombra, during one of his campaigns. The training was a long and painful process, as I had to allow the malevolent negative energies of the nether realm be absorbed into my body and thus destroying most of my other magical abilities, but in return I'm able to channel these powers against other magic users and leave them unable to use magic for short perioid of time. However the long I maintain the draining link between the me and the target, the more there is the danger of robbing the magic user of their magical abilities completely!

 

*He shooked his head a bit at the realization of being derailing about his point and cleared his throat a bit, before continuing again*

 

What I meant to say was that I too had to endure alot and I've killed my fair share of other ponies and not in the good way either, but like Volt said, it is all history now and no point on dwelling on them anymore. How about we just drop this discussion and return back to enjoying the feast in the name of our alicorn friend Blissy, now shall we?

  Well... he had been dying to see his mother... I'm just annoyed he knows something I don't and then keeps it a secret. But knowing him it will probably be something good   *she nuzzled Skylar back affectionatly then turned to stare at Polaris, Volt, NightStrike and Seth, all seeming to be getting along to her joy*

 

  Just seems...like only yesterday you, me and Polaris and Night Lights, came together as friends and went on those crazy adventures together. Isn't it? And now here we are, with new friends, in this...amazing palace!   *She swirled around, her robes flowing along with her as she admired the incredible ball room...then slowly coming to a stop*  Yet...it just feels all too good to be true...and there's so much responsibility now for me. I don't know if I got what it takes and... oh don't listen to me!  *she grinned* I'm just a bit overwhlmed and annoyed with this gown! *she kicked the dress back to its proper alignment*
