"Thank you." Frode said, not even sure the professor heard him. He turned around and motioned for Abaddon to follow him. He came to the edge of town and decided to take Route 3.

@@Ampharos

As the pair walked through the grass, they came across a wild Croagunk. "Hm. Abaddon, we need to catch pokemon in order to complete this pokedex, think you're up to the challenge?" He proposed, pulling out a heal ball he had picked up on the journey to Acai town. "Ab." Abaddon replied, nodding. "Alright then. Abaddon! Taunt him to get his attention!"

"Nice to meet you, Cedric."

Hoppip squirmed in his trainer's arms as the Petilil approached, breaking free and floating down to it's level. "Hoppip?" The pokemon quizzically cried, circling the Petilil.

Bethanne turned to the approaching trainer and pokemon. "Hello, Alex.... I don't know if you heard earlier, but my name's Bethanne."  She bent down to the two pokemon in front of her, her sight on the Petilil. "I can't tell you how jealous I am that you have a Petilil. Their leaves have special healing powers when eaten, and they grow back very quickly."

She stood back up, watching as Cedric put a band on his pokemon. 'That's not a bad idea. Not only does it show unity to other trainers, but it will also help the pokemon themselves to feel as one.'

"So do you have a second pokemon like Cedric does, Alex?"

@@Pinkie Paranoia@@Ampharos,

Alek smiled as he watched the Hoppip circle around Petals. The laughed when he heard her say his name wrong. "Hahaha It's Alek, not Alex. People always get my name wrong it's okay. Pleasure to meet you Bethanne. Yes, I have a second. A Starly" He took out the Pokeball holding the flying type in his hand. But I just caught him so he's currently weak. I would have to bring him Pokemon Center before I take him out of his Pokeball." He looked at Cedric's Pikachu now. "That's a pretty good idea. Maybe I would do that. All my Pokemon can wear goggles like me." The Petilil then stopped playing with Hoppip, turned around and starred blankly Alek, worried he would actually do that. "I'm kidding Petals. I'm going to go to the Pokemon Center to heal up this Starly. Be seeing you two again. Come on Petals." Petals almost sighed, sad she can't continue to play with his new friend. She walked over to her trainer and he put her back on his shoulder, and they both walked back into town.

It was a quick visit to the Pokemon center. Alek walked in and spoke to a very sweet and kind Nurse Joy. He gave her the Starly in his Pokeball. After several minutes have passed Joy handed the newly refreshed Starly. He released him. At first he was reluctant to be with his new Trainer but Starly knew he would be a good one if he was capable of beating him.

Riptide growled in irritation as the sand got into his eyes, temporarily blinding him. Ace gasped. "Riptide! Get back a few steps!" he yelled. Riptide nodded and did as he was told, floating back a few steps as he shook the dirt out of his eyes. Ace then took the chance to make a retaliation attack. "Riptide, use bite!" he yelled. Riptide wasted no time in lunging at the poochyena, with it's teeth barred.

@@Starbound,

The Turtwig took the attack very well, just moving over a bit from the attack. But the attack had been pretty annoying, so seeing the Pokemon on the ground caused it to smile devilishly. The Pokemon charged at Pluse and Tackled it straight back towards it's trainer. The Turtwig seemed a little too strong for an area like this...

@@Suitaloo,

The Croagunk in question looked like the strongest of the group, even if it definitely looked like a fairly low level. It had an x-shaped scar in the middle of it's face, and had been knocking out it's fellow Croagunk one by one. It had just finished jabbing a Machop in the throat to knock it out when it saw Abaddon and the trainer. The Croagunk's lazy look never seemed to change and it let out a fairly long "Croooooww..." before quickly rushing in at Abaddon. It's fingers were lit up purple, as if it were going to use Poison Jab, but it definitely looked to low of a level to be using the move. Was it possibly disguising another move to simply look like a powerful Poison Jab.

Cedirc didn't even have time to congratulate the boy on the catch before he took off back to Acai Town. "Um... Alright then... So is there anything on the route that interests you Bethanne? I knew I wanted Apollo the second I saw him. Anything like that for you?"

@,

Shinx jumped out of the way of the Skrelp, confident it hadn't lost it's dodging ability from the smoke. This triumph was quickly taken away from him when the Skrelp seemed to follow him no matter where he went. Angry, the Shinx retaliated with once again attempting a Tackle attack.

@,

The Poochyena looked simply frightened, and once again attempted to scramble away. All it managed to do was kick more sand in the Carvanha's face before getting bitten. The move didn't hurt all that much, and after getting out of the grip of the jaws, the Poochyena attempted to Tackle the scary Pokemon once again. The Poochyena looked positively terrified throughout the fight, as if it were about to lose it's life.

Bethanne looked around at the pokemon in the route as she listened to Cedric's Question. "Not really," She replied, shaking her head. "I don't see any that I'd like to have just yet."

"Though, to be honest, that orange-brown shell in the lake over there caught my eye at first, but I have neither the tools nor the pokemon to find out what it is."

"Pip, Hop Hoppip!!" The hoppip cried, puffing itself out to make it seem bigger. "I appreciate your enthusiasm, Hoppip, but you know we can't. At least not yet."

"Hoppip??" Her pokemon stopped what it was doing and floated up to Bethanne's eye level, a noticeable sadness in it's yellow eyes.

"I know, Hoppip." She reached out, grabbing Hoppip out of the air and holding it in her arms, petting it's head. "Hoppip really wants me to catch another pokemon soon, so it can have a friend to play with." She explained to Cedric.

Cedric gasped and stuck out the Slugma in his hands and smiled widely. "Oh I'm sure Mags would love to play with Hoppip!" The Slugma didn't seem to indicate that in the slightest, giving the Hoppip and it's trainer a lazy, if not almost annoyed, look. "Well... Maybe not..." Cedric pulled Mags back to his chest, the Pokemon simply closing it's eyes contently. "I don't think that lake's too deep though... Maybe you could kick it or something. I'd help out but..." Cedric simply looked at his two Pokemon, a fire type and a water type. "Not sure how much they would help, hehe."

"Abaddon, try to dodge the attack, it looks to be a poison jab!" Frode said. The Croagunk seemed to be going to attack on Abaddon's left, so he jumped to the right and then pulled up his claws to scratch the Croagunk, hitting him on the arm. "Don't knock him out Abaddon! We need to catch him!" Frode called out. "Ab." Abaddon replied.

Soon Alek arrived back to Cedric and Bethanne. They seemed like they were having a conversation. "I'm back!" He called out to them, walking with Petals on his shoulder and his Starly flying by his side. "I'd like you both to meet... Nova, my Starly." Nova was surprised by the sudden new name. He didn't seem to mind it though; he actually liked it a bit. Nova then fly around his trainer and landed on his head. Alek then chuckled.

"Well, I guess we should go find more Pokemon to catch right?" Alek looked around for some. He then noticed the lake. "Maybe there is a water type Pokemon in the lake."

"No!" Henry winced as Turtwig knocked Plusle straight into Henry's arms. "Plusle! Are you okay?" Plusle nodded its head and jumped back onto the ground. "Plusle..." "Alright! Use Tail Whip, then a Thunder Wave! And then right after that, jump back and use Quick Attack!" Plusle nodded. It waved its tail at Turtwig and winked, "Plusle!" and then jumped up and unleashed a wall of electricity at Turtwig. "Plu, Plus... leeeee!" Then, using the light as a cover, swiflty tackled Turtwig again.

"I noticed the lake earlier too." Bethanne motioned towards it with one of her hands, while keeping a grip on Hoppip with the other. "There's a shell at the bottom that got my attention. Cedric and Hoppip seem to think we can take it, but I'm not so sure."

"Hoppip!" The pokemon broke free from it's trainer's arm, and began to float towards the lake. "Hoppip!" Bethanne exclaimed, chasing after the pokemon.

Riptide grunted in annoyance as the frightened poochyena tackled him, causing him to retreat a few steps back. Ace growled in frustration. "Darnit! Not only are Riptide attacks not having much effect, but it also looks like that poochyena will be too scared of me and Riptide to help us, even if I DO manage to catch him! Wait...he's scared, that could actually be an advantage!" he thought with a smile. "Riptide, try using scary face!!" he said, though not sure the shark-like Pokémon would be able to comply. Riptide looked a bit hesitant, but nodded all the same. It then turned to face the poochyena, giving it a look that could curdle milk.

@@Suitaloo,

The Croagunk just barely missed, and easily moved his arm away from the large Pokemon's claws, then quickly jabbed forward with the glowing hand.

After watching Plusle use Tail Whip, the Turtwig used Withdraw to negate the fact that he had dropped his guard slightly. The Thunder Wave hit Turtwig head on, be it managed to jump out of the way from the Quick Attack, and then retaliated with Razor Leaf. The Turtwig seemed to be more experienced in battling than it should have been.

Cedric followed the three over to the lake and after hearing Alek's comment, peered into the lake. "Oooooh. That would make sense. I thought it might have been a Shuckle shell... Squirtle's aren't usually common here," He tried to explain, rubbing the back of his neck.

@,

The Poochyena saw the face and simply froze in place, possibly giving a good opportunity to be caught.

@,

The Water Gun just barely missed as Shinx tumbled from missing the Tackle, but quickly got up and attempted another Tackle.

Abaddon flew backwards, taking the hit like a champ. "Alright Abaddon, fight through the pain. Scratch him again!" Frode shouted to Abaddon. "Sol!" Abaddon replied, jumping towards the Croagunk. "Aaaaab-Sol!" Abaddon cried, swiping his claws at the Croagunk's midsection.

"So, since Hoppip Can't battle underwater, I guess I have to get it's attention myself?" Bethanne questioned, to nobody in particular. She bent over, untying and taking off her shoes, followed by her socks. She rolled up the legs of her pants to above knee height, then waded into the water towards the shell. When she reached it, she peered at it, slightly scared and nervous about what to do.

Alek watched as she waded over to the most likely sleeping Pokemon. Unless the shell was empty. He was unsure of what to do. He didn't want her to upset it. The Pokemon might decide to attack her if she did... When she called over for some advice Alek gave him a simple shrug, still unsure, and then looked at Cedric.

The tackle hit skrelp square on and sent him tumbling back before regaining his balance, but breathing heavily. With another curse zain sighed "c'mon skrelp, you can do this! Go on, use water gun again!" He commanded, causing the skrelp to once again shoot a jet of water at the electric Pokemon.
