Rush just shook his head. "Hell if I know. When someone decides to pick a fight with me, I'm not the type to stop and wonder why. Besides, we don't even really know anything about it. It probably doesn't even think in the same sense that we do, and I doubt we could ever entirely understand what it's trying to accomplish. What's important is that we continue to fight it every step of the way."

Katie thought about this, she was never one to have such a simplistic view on the world, fiction or real. She wanted her bad guys to have a goal and reason, she wanted her heroes to be amazing and deep, ridden with flaws and character development. But she supposed that real life wasn't always a well crafted storybook. She should have dropped the issue there, but she kept pushing, "Ya well I guess, this thing has the power to create acid rain, swarms of giant killer bees, and gods know what else, why does it do it? I think I've narrowed it down to one option, how does crazy AI bent on extermination of humans sound?" She wondered if she was annoying him, but she hoped not. If she didn't talk to somebody about this, she would explode. @@Alex Kennedy,

Rush nodded. "Well yeah, that much is pretty obvious, I guess. But why it's bent on the extermination of humans in the first place is beyond me. I mean, if you're going to dig so deeply into it, you would probably be better off asking why someone would make it in the first place, or where they are now."

Katie nodded, "I think Jeremy knows." She said, now at the line front serving herself food. "But I haven't talked with him for awhile, hopefully he'll explain things. I'll drop it til then." Rush shook his head. "We haven't gone anywhere off campus since our first date. We're supposed to go to the orphanage where she grew up to talk to them about something, but stuff keeps getting in the way. Mostly we've been hanging out in my room, or in the gym, or occasionally in your room when you're not around and we can spend some time alone. No offense or anything, but three's a crowd, you know?"

"Totally get it." Katie said in agreement, "having roommates crash alone time sucks." She thought about it, "I almost never hand out i my room anyway, spend most of my time with Ben or hiding out somewhere with a Harry Potter book. Do you like Harry Potter by the way?" Rush shook his head, now sitting down with his food. "Uh... I'm not really big on reading. I'm sure they're great books and all, though. Just... not my thing. I haven't seen the movies, either. Not exactly my type of movie."

Katie shrugged sitting down with him, "To each their own. One of my best friends from middle school hated the books, told me that Harry was a Mary Sue and pointed out a billion things about the book that didn't make since, in response I shrugged and said 'what of it?' I notice it's flaws, but damn it's entertaining and fun." She took a bite of he biscuit then started slurping down juice. @@Alex Kennedy,

Rush gave her a strange look, his mouth still half-full of bacon. He swallowed and spoke in a confused tone. "Harry's a... what? Does that mean like, a transvestite or something? Suddenly I don't think I want to know too much about the kind of books you're reading."

Katie blushed, "Sorry, I babble. Mary Sue is a fanfiction term, a character that always wins and is insufferably perfect. I don't think Harry's one, but a a lot of people do." She gave a little giggle, "fanfiction has it's own language, you could fill an entire school coarse with all the stuff about it. It's all really interesting, like did you know slash fiction started with a group of fans shipping Kirk and Spock together, and eep!" She jumped when she felt a poke in ribs, Ben.

 

"You're going to talk the poor mans ear off." Ben said sitting down and offering her a coffee.

 

"Oh, was I babbling again?"

 

"Yes, cut it out."

 

Katie glared, "that only wants to make me babble more Ben dear. But for Rush's sake I'll stop. Don't tell me what to do. She took a sip of her coffee.

 

Ben laughed, "So, how was your night Rush?" He asked taking a grape from Katie's plate. Katie retaliated by flicking a piece of pineapple at head. @@Alex Kennedy,

Shadow stepped into the school grounds again with a backpack on his back

 

Shadow said to himself

"I need to hide... FAST!"

 

Shadow ran through the school trying to avoid everyone while there were people shouting at him to stop. Shadow finally ran to a gate that was in his way but instead of stopping he just climbed over it and started running again. Shadow looked around again till he saw one of the doors to the inside of the school was open and he ran in as fast as he could and then hid behind a wall right next to the door hoping the people who were chasing him would go away.

Rush rolled his eyes at the usual games going on between the two of them. "My night was... fine, I guess. Things have been really quiet lately. Maybe I should start hanging out with you guys more often. From what I hear, it seems like you two never have a dull moment."

Ben peeled the pineapple piece from his hair and threw it back, an amused look in his eyes. 

 

Katie giggled and batted the pineapple from the air with her hand.

 

Ben returned it before it hit his face and Katie spiked the piece from the air, making it land in Ben's own coffee.

 

"Katie 1 Ben 0! All these years and you still can't beat me at pineapple tennis." Katie taunted.

 

Ben laughed, "I'll get you next time!" He sipped the pineapple from his drink and said to Rush, "hey if you like movies and fruit fights you're more than welcome to chill with us."

 

Katie nodded, "agreed. You're fun to hang out with."

Rush nodded. "I'll definitely have to do that some time. You know, when I'm not busy fawning over Whisper. Maybe she can come too. It'll be like a double date, except you guys aren't actually dating. Everyone probably thinks you are, though, the way you're always together. Not to mention sleeping together, even if it's just in the boring literal sense."

Katie and Ben both snickered at this immaturely and slurped down the last of their coffee at the same time. It was creepy how in sync they were. "you're turn to get coffee Kat." Ben said.

"Fine." Katie grinned, she got up and went for the vending machine. As she existed the building she saw a strange sight, weird shadow boy being yelled at by a crowed. She slinked around the people, who parted somewhat off-put by her reputation, great, she had a reputation, and she looked at the boy.

"Hey you, what are you doing back there?" She asked, keeping her distance, "I know him," She said to the crowed, "I'll deal, you guys scat." The crowed left and she turned back to the boy, "come on then, stop hiding. Want some coffee?"

Shadow looked up at Katie

 

"Oh it's you... well thanks for saving me i guess. I would of been put in jail for life if they caught me"

 

Shadow got to his feet and tryed to step forward but he fell on the floor. He had a look at his leg to find that his leg was bleeding badly.

"In jail?" Katie asked, eyebrow raised, she was going to ask why but she could pressure the boy on it later. Whatever he was up to it wasn't good. He had taken the chemicals from the lab, causing the teachers to search dorms for them, which was the reason the teachers had found Katie in Ben's room a few nights back resulting in a day of detention. Why was he back here anyway? He wasn't a student as far as anybody knew

 

Regardless, she rolled her eyes and lugged the boy to the inferiority before he could protest. She didn't bother looking for the nurse who was out at the time, instead she told Shadow to sit on a cot before finding the first aid kit and cleaning the boys wound. "this is going to hurt a bit." she said calmly before gently cleaning out the wound with a rag and disinfectant. "It doesn't look like it needs stitches, which is a good thing." she observed. @,

Minx had finished showering and gotten her change of clothes on. She was wearing a red tank top, with black jeans. Her hair wasn't long enough to be tied up so she left it as is. She waited in the showers for Whisper to finish. "Whisper, are you and Rush dating? I haven't been paying attention to anything the past few days because my personalities keep taking over. When they do, I don't remember a thing." Minx told her.

Shadow picked up his backpack and opened it. Inside was the items he stole from the science labs in the school and a jar with a glow coming from it.

Katie gave a smirk rubbing neosporin on the wound, thankful that it had stopped bleeding, "Well that depends on which social network I'm on. But in real life, I'm Katie nitpicker of movies, player of video games, shirker of homework, and catcher of Pokemon." She left out the part about occasionally fighting to save the world, but with such a sarcastically great title like that she was sure it was implied. "Now, who are you?" She asked. "For real-sees. And what's with the science supplies? You wouldn't be planning to take over the world would you?" She asked in a joking voice, but unbeknownst to him serious. @,

Whisper came out dressed and began the tedious task of drying her hair. She flinched when she heard the dating question again "Uhm...yeah...we are...".

Rush was still at the table with Ben. Finishing the rest of his breakfast, he stared awkwardly across the table at him for a while, not really having anything left to say. "So... This is a pretty long coffee run Katie's on, isn't it? You, uh... think she'll be back soon?"

"Nah. I couldn't take over the world with these and like i said when we first met, names are for friends and your not really my friend at the moment but you say your a catcher of Pokemon.

Ben sighed looking down at the table, "she probably got sidetracked." He grumbled wondering what she had gotten into now "It happens to her sometimes, don't tell her I told you this, but once she went to her house to go get a notebook, and showed up three days later asleep in a tree house. Not even her own tree house! When I asked her why, her excuse was that she found this lost bird, and a kid wanted her to help find the nest, and" he went on explaining before ending on the line "Let's just hope that she's not hitch hiking to Oregon this time." @@Alex Kennedy,

 

 

Katie grinned and wrapped the last of the bandages on his leg before running to wash her hands, "aww, he's sooo cute!" she said drying her hands on a towel. She put the towel down and gave the Pikachu a hug before handing it back, "alright, you're all patched up. Don't strain your leg, if it gets worse you might need stitches. Now, what's with the science supplies, seriously, the teachers are freaking out over them going missing." She tapped her foot and waited for an answer. @,

"Does it really matter?. It's a secret why i've got them and i'm not going to tell you even if you did help me and let the teachers freak out. It's not like there going to call the police in to check whos got it.
