2013 Annual Comic Confusion Help?

I want to get the 2013 Annual. I guess it's a remake of the movie and it looks great so far, but is this link a variant cover? Because I have no idea what's what. IDW gives no information on what issue is what issue.

In terms of collecting, which will be more valuable?

Er, probably the variant, but I would just buy whichever one is cheaper or whichever you like more.  Neither one will become anything really valuable in all likelihood, and if it's something you're going to read it's not going to stay in mint condition anyway.

I believe these comics will have their value in the future. People are only selling them at outrageous prices on Ebay because they know bronies will spend hundreds on products. I am not going overboard, I did by the only two blu rays(Brony Doc and EQG)

I think the comics that are cheaper, could be more of value.

Well it depends on circulation of the variant cover. If it's a much more limited run then the regular version then it will naturally be worth more money. If it's going for a hefty price now due to speculation then you're right that it might not retain that value at all (and the cheaper version will be a better purchase). I didn't see any information on the wikia about how many issues were sold of each which would help.

Actually the annual is some backstory of the plot of the movie. It is not an adaption but fills in the blanks about what happened with Sunset Shimmer pre-Twilight.

You're right, because the more valuable it is the more people would want to buy the comic.
