Well the Alicorn Amulet was interduced in S3 but has yet to have any sort of explaination. Who do you think made the Amulet? Why was it made? How did Trixie know about it?

Probably an ancient artifact like the Elements of Harmony known to the magical community of Equestria that slipped through the cracks because of Equestrian focus on harmony over power. It probably had rumors floating around about it's existence that a traveler like Trixie could piece together into a rough pinpointing of it's actual location.

I am suprised there hasn't already been a thread like this....since the Alicorn Amulet has been around for ages now...

I agree with Couldn't have said it better myself....

Although.....what makes me wonder even more, is WHY it was ever created in the first place, since it has anti-harmonious effects even if a kind hearted pony was to wield it.  Plus, I wonder what other dangerous artifacts are present in Equestria, where ever they may be....

That's a good question right there. What exactly is the Alicorn Amulet? Where did it come from?

My theory on it? Well... It's called the Alicorn Amulet, and it corrupts the user...

Perhaps it may just be the sealed essence of another alicorn that once existed but was corrupted by power? :D

Or it could be an artifact designed by a pony that wanted the power of an alicorn! But of course, no normal pony can handle that much power without becoming corrupt...

Ah, so many possibilities!

Here's a thought. Remember that the ponies of old seemed to be a bit more warlike, as depicted in the Hearth's Warming Pageant? Perhaps the Alicorn Amulet is a Unicorn relic from that time, when power was still necessary to deal with the harshness of a pre-pony Equestria.

@, That makes me wonder all the more, how hard (or easy) was it to establish the peaceful kingdom we know of today....By the lore already established, was Discord a part of all this back then, before the settling of Equestria? What are the Sisters real influence upon the country because, if what you say could be the case, then that means that Celestia and Luna's defeating of Discord bought an evolving society (like pre-Renaissance times) all the way to the industrial revolution with a single defeat....It really makes me wonder, and really want to know about the history of ponies as a race....

Well that's what we have headcanons and fanfiction for.

But that still leaves questions...I really hope they address some of this in the show, if not the comics or big books (like the Daring Do book coming out)....

I hope they do address where it came from, I'm pretty curious. It was probably an old artifact that a old ruler of a faraway land used it to corrupt himself and keep his civilians oppressed with no freedom at all, and then the old ruler died after years of being in power. Then, the artifact was taken to the shop where Trixie bought it.

That's my theory on it. :P

It would make an interesting prequel to that episode, wouldn't it? ^^

Maybe it has something to do with King Sombra, I dunno, I just get the vibes from it.

Maybe it has some of his evil power stuck in it?

I bet Trixie read it in a book though, since the others found it in a book as well.

Well the theories that came out before Magic Duel was that the amulet belonged to Sombra. Maybe that was how he managed to oppress resistance in the Crystal Empire for so long until the Celestial Sisters showed up. And with the Amulet gone, he had to after the next most powerful artifact, the Crystal heart.

Equestria did exist prior to the Princess's ascension to the throne. Maybe this artifact was how there was one all powerful ruler over the 3 tribes before the Master of Reality, Discord showed up and overthrew them and the Amulet was either lost or hidden on purpose so that Discord wouldn't take it and become even more powerful.

I do have a story planned out similar to the above theory. Where the previous ruler of Equestria wanted a way to pass down an alicorn's power to their subjects in the event the ruler fell, and so transferred their power into the amulet, but in doing so became weak enough for the current princesses to defeat, and in the end had no knowledge of the amulet's corrupting influence.
