Anti Bronies-Bronies co exist, easier than thought

So I was having a debate with my cousin last night, one of the more intelligable anti bronies I know, but awhile into our debate he posed a statement to me regarding the "wanted opression and judgement" of bronies to mass society. To me he explained his perspective on the situation as, demographic A. The adult male troll that fails to get attention positively so he embraces an interest in ponies as a way to draw people who protest ponies into a trapped debate about being tolerant when usually this man is a complete hypocrite and an insensitve anonymous bastard. B. The people that genuinely are just desperate for attention and want to go against the grid persay into the brony community knowing that people will be drawn to them due to the fact that this adult male has an obsession with ponies.

It was hard for me not to see where he was coming from, from an outsiders persepective. As I once was myself ignorant to the brony culture, and had thought a long the same lines. Later on it had really clicked in my mind, me and my cousin are a lot alike, but what really caught my attention joining the show, was that Twilight Sparkle and myself also had a remarkable amount of things in common. I posed the situation to him, "We are independent people, we don't have a lot of friends", (we hold close to family values really) I continued to tell him "because we are bold headed people, that don't like to see things any other way, and are more focused on ourselves and what we know rather than others". Like Twilight a lot at the start of things, I then introduced them and the arguments quieted, I went on to explain to him why I was so drawn, and things were becoming more apparent to everyone, excuse my profantiy but I continued to explain, "I was a total asshole, and people were constantly trying to build relationships and be my friend, but I wouldn't let myself think it was necessary", and he knew he had been able to relate. I then finally posed to him, you forgot about ponies C. and D.

C. People that respect a great show, with a good moral image, and that we really relate to and feel the positivity and happiness it has to bring. D. People that used to be "trolls", or oher "assholes", that realized that there is nothing wrong with trying to better yourself no matter who is teaching you to. And I ended with my final observation as he ended with his, in mine saying, Even for your example A and B, something that all of these "bronies", (had a sub conversation about it not always being a self procclaimed title.) have in common, is the fact that they aren;t afraid to challenge "societal correctness" in totalitarian patriarchy, and they are willing to idolize the woman for a change, give us Hawk girl, gives us Sailor Moon, give Us. Ms. Marvel, give us My Little Pony, it's a matter of artistic interest, and to his statement "We get it you like ponies, but nobody is coming into your house and ripping your TV out of the wall for watching it, quit acting opressed", To that statement, I agree, we aren't opressed, we are judged, and everyone should quit letting it bother them, and I explained to him that "trolls will always be trolls", eventually it all comes down to who do you think you want to be your friend, because support is a good thing, and a sense of community is never a bad thing.

You make a good point. We don't have to hold this grudge with the haters, but once we come down it we are judged by others though we can not let it bother us because judging others will lead to being judged yourself. Support is a good thing, indeed.

Yeah I guess that is my overrall message as to my stand point on the whole thing. We love My Little Pony, nobody can legally stop us. "haters gonna hate", lol is relative to this culture. Trolls are going to instigate, haters are going to hate, That aside there are level headed people on both sides, you don't have to force something on someone that doesn't have that interest, in the same way that they don't have to tell you what and what not to watch.

That's what we should do, but most people are too hard headed to listen and they force someone to like the show. I see where you are coming from though.

One of my better friends is an unabashed disliker of both the show and it's fanbase and even trolls me over my own liking of the show and fandom. And she's still one of my better friends. People are far more complex than most people like to think, yo, and even when you're at odds over one thing you can like another person for any other number of reasons. Just have to be able to work with the context of a social situation appropriately. I'm a million different persons in a million different situations, and I would hope that other bronies aren't so close minded about their love of the show to understand that they should strive to be that flexible themselves.

I love everypony being able to get the concept as to what I am pitching. I couldn't agree anymore, in fact its something that the show taught me itself. Months before if my cousin and I were to debate about liking a certain game or movie that the other disliked, it would have raged on and on, one time we didn't talk to eachother for a month over a Warhammer game lol. However, MLP taught me to accept people as is, you get the overrall message, not everyone wants to be your friend, not everyone is going to agree, but that doesn't mean co existing isn't possible. We are all here, some of us like anthropomorphic ponies, some of us don't, meet someone new every day, treat everypony with respect, and get it in return, someone is way more likely to accept your interests when you aren't slamming them down their throat. Not everypony think's alike, hell not everypony is a "pony", but thats okay.

It's not the judgement that gets to me. It's the haters and trolls that relentlessly rant on and on and follow you like a parasite. We should just ignore them, and they should just ignore us but they don't always, and some go so far as to stalk you just to have an online fight.

you can ignore what someone says or ignore them all together by leaving the room but sometimes they follow you and just jab at you repeatedly. you can't ignore that. you can have the utmost patience and take it like peaceful protesters but not all of us can or will do that. which makes me wonder whether to keep them away there should be a trivia question for when you join the forums, that's updated with something from the latest episode so they know that you actually have watched it. just an idea. I haven't had trouble with haters and trolls really so meh.

Eventhough I am not a brony, I still support you bronies.

I dislike those trolls and haters and really advice for you guys and girls to ignore them, because they are not very wise peoples.

This thread appears to be related to the My Little Pony franchise and/or the Bronydom in general. Thus, it has been sentenced to Sugarcube Corner.

"Sugarcube Corner" just doesn't sound like the kind of place people are sentenced to.
