Clover got crowned, held a speech mentioning each of us and some others giving her thanks for stuff, Vinyl suddenly comes in after everyone's gotten to talk for a little bit saying there's a fight, two guards, one using fir the other using ice (and spears/tridents) fought with each other, which then turned out to be entertainment, then Clover directed everyone's attention to outside where we now expect to see the Wonderbolts at any moment now.

She'll listen to him, just with mixed results. We'll definitely have to do that with Steel and Blue Note later; I can see a lot of opportunities.

I do find his assumption that magic doesn't work with weapons somewhat questionable. Is there any reason it couldn't?

I believe it could work, but it'd require specific practice~

I think if a unicorn's talent had something to do with weaponry, they could use magic, but unicorns like Blue Note struggle because their magic is suited for other purposes. If she dedicated enough time to it, she probably could, but she's too busy using her magic for musical purposes. That was my line of thinking when I wrote her struggling with it.

I think what Sterling and you are getting at is there is a difference between levitating a weapon and actually wielding it. Of that, I completely agree. Hell, just from my experience, most people don't even know how to properly grip the hilt of a sword, let alone cut with it properly.

That makes sense and it is in line with Equestria's internal logic. According to Twilight, a unicorn's magic is strongly linked with their special talent. So it makes sense properly using a weapon with magic would be something Blue Note would not be able to easily do.
