It makes sense.

Changelings hate apples just liie Blueblood. They are rude and care about nothing but themselfs Just like Blueblood. And they have a massive ego just like Blueblood. So what if Blueblood is a hybred Of a changeling and a Pony due to a past affair between a royal pony and a chaneling? It would explain why he wasn't at the wedding as the chanelings informed him about the invasion and he ran away.

Just because a pony is a d*** doesn't mean he/she is a changeling. They're just a supporting secondary villain.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it save equistria with its five candy coloured friends and shoot rainbows at bad guys using their necklaces and tiara unless you're celestia

A more reasonable explanation is that he was probably just some small time noble from an important family in another city. Hence why he never shows up again, he was just there for the Gala.

If Changelings feed on love, wouldn't they want to be lovable? No, Blueblood is just the heir of a noble and just so happens to be a pompous prick despite having done nothing to earn status (people like that drive me up the wall).

He shows up in Sweet & Elite when Rarity christens the airship.
