PsychoGamer8229 1 April 13, 2014 Share April 13, 2014 (edited) Hasbro could do this to broaden the audience a bit more and pick up the anime fans. So that this could become popular with the audience in Japan and the anime fans here. The series would air in Japan at first with a Japanese cast (obviously) with the English Dub airing after enough time has passed with the respective cast from the original show reprising their roles. The difference between the anime and the source material is that the anime will probably a full narrative structure with a continuous storyline and story arcs. It could develop the characters that would feature in the anime. For example, one story arc could detail how Shining Armor and Cadence first met which would result in a very tearjerking scene (they would be tears of joy, however). Status quo will not be God in this series. There would be strong character development and it could be something like Clannad which means that you will cry at certain scenes. However, due to the difference in the culture and the such, the characters HAVE to be human. This is due to them not liking anthropomorphic characters. You see, they feel that they wouldn't be able to relate to an animal rather than a human. This one of the reasons as to why Sonic games do not sell well at the slightest in Japan. Also, when they do have anthropomorphic characters, the males look like animals whereas the females look like humans with animal ears and an animal tail. For example, the catgirl. Also, I believe that the names would have to be changed to regular Japanese names to fit in with the realistic Japanese setting. However, the names would most likely be changed back in the English Dub that would air on the Hub. It could be something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpGZY3fJjZ0 Edited April 13, 2014 by PsychoGamer8229
QuickWit 42 April 13, 2014 Share April 13, 2014 (edited) Personally I don't like anime but I have feeling a lot of bronies do (I don't know for sure, I'm kinda new). So I guess that if they were to make an anime, it would probably do just fine. I don't think they will though... If Japan got on board with MLP, it could allow the series to have more longevity with its new popularity. So that's cool! Now that's an interesting point about Japanese culture I hadn't seen brought up before back in my weeb days. It makes quite a bit of sense. Duly noted. I disagree with your point on the series necessarily becoming more cohesive and 'epic', as it were. Japan also has the whole range of slice of life animes, from romcom to moe appeal, and so on. I could easily see FiM being slotted into one of those genres... The only thing I could really see that needs to be changed is giving the world of Equestria a culture more in line with traditional Japanese culture. They'd probably also want to play up the yuri subtext between the characters (which essentially doesn't exist in the show proper).

This is more along the lines of what I had in mind for it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpGZY3fJjZ0 It would contain a tone similar to that of Clannad and its sequel, Clannad Afterstory. anime certainly would bring in a larger audience. but the question is would they make manga? From what I have seen, they will most likely make a manga. You see, when there is an original anime that was not based on a manga, they adapt it into a manga. For example, Eureka Seven was adapted into a manga around the same time the anime had aired. Edited April 13, 2014 by PsychoGamer8229

ghostfacekiller39 23,880 April 13, 2014 Share April 13, 2014 (edited) Nahh. I'm not down with it. Honestly, part of the appeal of it, to me, at least, is that the show itself has these engaging storylines while being able to appeal to everyone. It pushes the boundaries of what a kid's show is supposed to be. Furthermore, the animation style fits it so well I think that's a huge plus to it. You can really get a feel of what the show is all about from it. Last, but not least, anime isn't something I enjoy. It's not great. 10/10, not great, even. Call me Shirley, but I've given anime a shot on numerous occasions, and they were just...stupid. All it was, pretty much, was bad writing, fighting, and boring dialogue. I haven't enjoyed a single anime, and I really don't think I'd watch an MLP-based anime. Why would we need an MLP based anime, anyway? I mean, we've already got the show itself. Why try and provide an alternative to something that got extremely popular the way it is? Edited April 13, 2014 by ghostfacekiller39 He who is Positively Obsessed With All Things Rarity!!! Virgil 686 April 14, 2014 Share April 14, 2014 Anime version of MLP: the sequences when they use the elements of harmony would be amped up exponentially. Spike's crush on Rarity would take a rather creepy turn. The scene where Maud destroys that large rock.... would stay exactly the same however. I know there's a place you walkedWhere love falls from the treesMy heart is like a broken cupI only feel right on my knees.I spit out like a sewer holeYet still receive your kissHow can I measure up to anyone nowAfter such a love as this? Actually, what I had in mind for it would be like a slice of life with some supernatural elements added in to it.
