Merdyn laughed softly. Not as if he were laughing at anypony, but more to himself. It was honest amusement that he enjoyed. "Oh, my dear Jade Heart. I mentioned treason nor regicide. I merely asked for your opinion. If that were a neutral one, or none at all, it would've been a perfectly legitimate answer to my question..." He said, smiling at the mare.

"But you interpreted it that way. And even though I will not start pointing hooves immediately, you gave away more by trying to decieve me..." He added. He blew out more of the green smoke, filling the amosphere around him with a thicker aroma of soothening herbs.

"You can act and you can lie, but someone as skilled with words like yourself is one of the smart ponies. And someone with near diplomatic skills of deception will not sit back and wait for others to usurp any throne... Jade Heart you are here because you want to, not because it seemed polite to attend..."

He completed his monologue with another cackling snicker. He dissected her carefully devised disguise perfectly... But surely she would have more tricks up her sleeve. A game was about to start between them, and he would participate with pleasure...

"And besides... Love can sting worse than any kind of sword. A fight can be concluded by the say of a single word. I find lovers more dangerous than the breserking hound that calls himself a night guard here." He added, after which he took yet another puff from his pipe. He blew the smoke in Jade's direction, hoping that it would affect her as well as him. A curtain of mist surrounded him now. It was an atmosphere of serenity, and he enjoyed it thoroughly.

Merdyn also made a mental note of the trinket the bat pony had used a few moments earlier. The energy it emitted had been very interesting, and he could even sense a spiritual presence at some point...

How would you walk, how would you talk if you thought: "Three percent of the population likes classical music, if only we could get it up to four percent we'd be back in business and all our problems would be over." How would you walk, how would you talk if you thought: "Everybody loves classical music! They just haven't found out about it yet!" It's an entirely different world. It's what you make of it that counts.

I found an easy way to find out if you've inspired someone. If their eyes are shining, you know you're doing it!

Jade Heart.

@@Scribblegroove,

Jade reclined slightly.

"Such accusations... you know nothing of me dear - as as intelligent as you are, you seem to be reading far too deeply into my motives."

It was a pleasant change, having somepony with wits to spar with. Whether friendly or not remained to be seen, but she embraced the challenge. Jade was used to dealing with the less Intellectual types.

"Answer me this then dear, what do I have to gain? Neither of the sisters has any special connection to myself, nor would I make a suitable ruler myself. I am quite content to serve in my own way regardless of who holds power. No, I am simply a spectator who wishes to avoid needless bloodshed."

The broken necklace that Tempest had on began to repair itself, and the pendant reappeared on said accesory soon after.

Tempest smirked, as he felt his power return. His body then turned into a cloud of smoke, and reformed on the ceiling. "Well, that was interesting." He said. "Not many ponies can pin me so easily." With that, Tempest landed on the ground, and sat back in his chair. "I assume that there are no hard feeling between us, right?" The bat pony then glanced at the mayor.

"Thank you, Miss Patience and I will try to keep my mightiest weapon in it sheath but as a politician you must understand; I've been waving that particular sword around for half a century I'm quite skilled with it and it won't hurt anyone I don't want it to, Gentlecolt's honor." His voice was raspy but full of good humor.

He turn his head swiveling his ear as if trying to better listen to the conversations around the table. He smiled at the two cloaked ponies, "ah, yes." He licked his papery cracked lips, "love is more dangerous than a sword, I'll agree with that; but not as dangerous a love with a sword! Passions is a wondrous instrument when played by a master." He looked at the hooded mare, "are you master of passions... Mistress Mare?"

Leaning toward the smoking stallion, "and you my boy seem to be a logical and studied Stallion, would you be kind enough to let me know of where you studied? I'd rather believe it some nobles campus or at least a prestigious common college, but the uncertainty leave me yearning."

"Indeed do I hope the host arrives," Cryptical Code spoke, his head nodding a little before returning to his stone-like posture he was before. Time is something that cannot be bought back, and while he has all the time in the world today, those seconds could be used for other purposes. Paying half-attention to the three ponys' conversation, he made even more notes.

For sure, he'll watch the three ponies far off. Classifying them as individuals that could be of use for a while… long run would be dangerous. Intelligent from so far, calm perhaps, and they could hold power. First priority folks that he needs to be wary of; they could be the last few remaining of this current meeting if it got to the point of eliminating.

(The last two sentences mean after the meeting is adjourned and all that backstabbing and plotting takes place. Not that he expects someone to start stabbing someone right now.)

@@Torrent505, @,

Merdyn sighed and closed his eyes for a moment, taking another few puffs and inhaling the green smoke. What does she have to gain?

He opened his eyes and looked at the cloaked mare. "Be it through bloodshed or through peace, your gain from this meeting, and whatever comes after it is information and contacts. Even if your intentions are not to interfere with whatever we will be doing, you will be informed and capable of adjusting your plans to what we plan in this gathering." He said briskly.

"Throughout our developing of plans you can decide wether you will join in on it or not... Interesting, positioning yourself with as many possibilities as possible. A move of a true diplomat." He added, with his voice slowly becoming less brisk and more as if he were pondering. He drifted away in his thoughts for a few seconds before realizing the mayor had asked him a question as well. Quite a personal one even.

"I'd like to keep my place of studies a secret for now. Who would I be to spoil the surprise. I'll give away that even though my training as a mage is long in the past, I have not stopped studying and learning. The day you stop learning is the day you stop living." He said to the mayor. He particulary didn't like talking to him, afraid of being recognized.

The day you stop being informed is the day you won't see your death coming... He thought to himself.

"Perhaps I should add to that that my studies are thorough... Ask me any question concerning magic and I will either give you an answer, or a way to find an answer yourself..." He said with a sense of pride in his voice. He was not bragging, but he wasn't being modest either.

Patience waved off the mayors thanks with a grin and relaxed a bit once the night guard decided to use words... Though she was still wary of his actions. "Not a problem, self-defense is good business and you where the injured party anyway so i'd have to be a bit cruel to just watch... Aught to keep hostilities to a minimum during introductions shouldn't we?"    *'In the open at least... Outright attacking isn't all that smart.'*    "Heh, with a record like yours i'd be surprised if you weren't a master of a few different 'swords'... Hahaha, please just try to avoid my wings with your strikes eh Mr. gentlecolt? I need em and i'm afraid that i'm not real skilled with the politicians blade."

Dorado walked closer to this group and listened to their conversation, mainly listening to the unicorn mage. Dorado already didn't like him. Él habla demasiado mucho. He usually didn't trust mages anyway. Mainly because most think mage is far superior to non-magical weapons like his crossbows. Can magic accurately hit a pony 50 meters away without letting to shooter be noticed? Dorado doesn't magic when he has skill, and flight. The conversation between him and Jade Heart was interesting. Dorado had to admit this pony was inteligent but that doe snot mean Dorado can outsmart him. Or at least that is what he thinks.

"You were wondering about mi ballesta sí Don Everlast? My crossbow?" Dorado said to the mayor coming in from behind him as he talked to the mare and the mage. "It is just a simple crossbow made of wood attached to my front leg. Lightweight and good for travel." He said showing it off "A expert's craftspony made it in Maredrid but since it is small and made of wood it is no good for long range. Luckily El Dorado has many other crossbows, like the one of my back, perfect for that."

"As for you, señorita," He said towards Jade "if what the unicorn says is true, and you have come here to decide if you are to join in or not, I am afraid it is too late for that. You are joining whether or not you like to. Now, señorita, that was not a threat, but a warning. If you were leave you would just be a loose end... one worth tieing up and I do not want to see such a beautiful face end up hurt."

Justice sat watching the ponies in the room conversing with each other when he heard the dorado stallion say he wouldn't want to see jade's face get hurt, he grinned and jumped up and walked over to the two a mad grin on his face.

"Well mister dorado you wouldn't have to hurt her face, there is a small spot behind her hooves that when cut, cause a uncomfortable amount of blood loss"

He then pulled a razor out from the pocket on his blue shirt and he started shaking.

"How about a demonstration, I'll need a volunteer however"

Jade glanced towards the foal with an expression that might have been fear, or simply mild distaste. Leaning away from him and towards the almost-charming foreigner, the agent shook her head slightly.

"It appears that at least some of our number have social skills on par with a Parasprite..." She muttered in a tone that might have been used to comment on the days weather, before looking back to the one called Dorado - eyes peering brightly from under the shroud of the cloak. "You are quite correct though dear, I do not intend to become a thorn in anyones side...merely to ensure that murderous brutes aren't set loose unchecked across the city I call home."

The slight, unwavering smile briefly widened into something that might have been more genuine for a brief second. Noticeable, if only just. "... and so much as I disdain violence, I have a knack for watching my back."

She glanced away with an almost shy look as she pulled the hood down a little further over her face. "Though, your concern is very... touching."

Tempest rolled his eyes as he watched the ponies converse. He was growing impatient with the abscence of their host, but he knew he had to bear it. The bat pony then landed on the ground, and sat down in a chair."So, what did all of you do before all of... this?" He asked, waving his hooves around the room.

"Businesspony, owning a villa, that is about it," Cryptical Code spoke, he repeated his occupation while adding in a small bit of information. Then he adjusted his tie before continuing, in a low volume voice only intended for the bat pony, "are you loyal to the imprisoned Princess Luna?" Cryptical Code's voice was still blank, void of any emotions, not hinting where he stand on the issue.

"If you are, very loyal, I have a proposition," then Cryptical Code ended it with silence. To him, if it succeeds, it may be very beneficial. Though he doubts if it'll benefit the bat pony. But to him, that is a minor issue as long as it goes along. If it benefits both parties, that was good of course.

Tempest glanced at Cryptical Code, and nodded slightly. "I believe I've made that point clear." He said, slightly curious. He didn't trust this pony, but he would listen if it meant getting Luna free. "As for your proposition, I'm listening, but that doesn't really mean anything yet."

Xena glanced at Cryptical Code, and didn't exactly trust the pony either.

@,

"Of course," Cryptical Code simply responded in the small low volume. Then he looked up from the table, "I would like to help in your endeavors of finding a way to free Princess Luna." Pausing, he moved his head slightly to face the bat pony, "I have connections and the resource to aid you, plenty in fact. Now, you may be wondering what does this benefit me in a way, the reason is simple. They are ambitious folks, and I do believe more than one of them has the eyes on the crown of Equestria. And I would like to keep them from it, if you will." Glancing at the other ponies in the room, motioning that the usage of they were for the rest of the ponies.

"If you accept, you will have a blank check," Cryptical Code continued in his monotone voice. Then, he finished and waited patiently for an answer. To him, it was better to have the things the way they are right now and prevent an overly-ambitious pony from snatching the crown. And another to him, there was a higher chance of preventing them from controlling Equestria than grabbing the crown for himself.

(Blank check means full 100% support. Just in case if you folks don't know that. :3)

Radiance saw a wave of light obscure her surroundings for a split moment. The timer had started. There was no time to lose. They often say that in the Guard there is no man left behind, Radiance was not prepared to risk her life for anyone. She turned to the mare that seemed to be the leader of the recruits, "my side now." Radiance voice then boomed "Rally to me if you want to live." She brought herself to a gallop towards the door, but she felt her mind and muscles begin to grow slow and sluggish. She forced her mind to clear as best she could. She forced herself to slow down just enough to become stable.

She forced herself to scan her surroundings. Her senses were not quite as keen as she would have wanted them to be at the time. She tried to look for any approaching figures, any potential hazards, and if the mare in uniform was following her. She did this while trying to make her way to the door and to the safety of the open city.

Tempest thought about what Cryptical had said, and nodded. "Very well, then. I accept your proposal." He said. The bat pony figured that if Cryptical proved to betray him in the future, then he could always have his own associates take care of him. Tempest then began to meditate, trying to both calm his mind and do a bit of reconnaissance as he waited for the meeting to begin.

"Oh no Miss Patience, I wouldn't muddy my hooves with anything uncouth," he gestures toward his aid, "I hire others to rattle sabers for me. I'm merely a regular old Earth pony, from a long bloodline of unicorns to boot! Nature didn't even see fit to bless me with my families magical talents or my races great endurance and strength. But noble name, sound mind and an absurd amounts of bits can carry the weakest body quite far. And please don't worry about your wings they are far too pretty it would be a tragedy to see them clipped. Why would you even think such a thing? I have no reason to do such a terrible thing to you, do I?" He looked the mare up and down carefully, his face set, fully of intensity and a dark gleam in his eyes. Then broke the serious tension with a grin, "of course I don't."

The mayors ears continued to swivel and twitch as he turned back to the hooded stallion, "It's hardly that the the day you stop learning you died; life is learning, son, even if many ponies don't comprehend the lessons. But ah, you at least let me know you are a Mage, that narrows the list to schools of magics, not all brilliant unicorns choose that as their field of interest."

*'Hes being a charmer, my wings aren't pretty..... I aught to find a way to make them less noticeable soon.'*  Though Patience subconsciously tightens her wings in discomfort she continues to relax in her seat, only looking at Everlast sarcastically and saying "Careful with the eyes sir, some mares might find such a gaze unsettling to be observed with..." but she quickly switches back to smirking and using a more relaxed tone. "Ironically the martial blade is the most simple to master, while a stallion of your stature may not be blessed with much marital strength i imagine that matters little in the end of things. One deprived of a normal means to an end often develops others that can be far more effective. And my wings aren't that pretty, wouldn't be much use to me if they where... I doubt there would be any reason for you to harm a poor merk like myself, i was merely jesting sir."

"Good, good," Cryptical Code spoke as he nodded his head, the only indication that he was pleased with the agreement. Then he continued with the same low volume voice, "After this, if you could tell me what resource you want, please do." Then he turned his head away and stared at a random section of a wall. There was no other indication that he was going to be speaking again unless implored to.

Underneath that stone-like posture, Cryptical Code was thinking of plans and resources. Perhaps he should visit some banking businesses and start moving wealth around. Then there were investment ideas, he was going to assemble a large amount of wealth, though it will take some time; he pondered to himself of the future. So many plans and time was probably not on his side.

Only ponies with true power, command, and deceptive so be here. Like myself..." He then listened to the Mayor speak to that mage pony; calling him brilliant. Dorado didn't like this. Él no es brillante. "Speaking of power..." He then spoke to the mage. "I bet you are like all other unicorn magos. They all think magia is the most powerful thing in the world. After a few minutes, Tempest found himself separated from his own body, as a mere projection. In this state, he could walk through walls and what not, but was unable to harm anypony. "I might as well see how far I can go." He thought to himself, as he flew out of the building, and into the night sky. Tempest smiled slightly, as he felt the moon light wash over him. "I swear that I will get you back." The bat pony then glanced directly at the moon, hoping for some sort of sign from Luna.

Lady raised a brow to the bartender, did he just insult her? The changeling was insulted, highly insulted. In fact, if his bar weren't filled with witnesses she would have killed him right then and there. So, in an act of displaying her anger. She gave a surprised expression then her muzzle turned into a sour expression. She growled at him, a fierce feral growl that would only could be heard from timber wolves. She then trotted away from him down the hall. She flicked her tail at him in a final bit of anger and somewhat of a sassy feel as she entered the room.

Great, morsels.

Such opportunities of feeding came across her mind...for the stallion's of course. Unlike most changelings she does have a preference.

Lady believed in herself to be the most beautiful creature in the room. Her tall and lean figure, curvy with along lion like tail. Her burgundy coat with black spots is something unique in itself. While her long, wavy mane covers most of her shoulders up to her elbows. She scanned the room, looking at each and every pony with her piercing pale blue eyes. She gave a slight smile, maybe placing a good hoof forward would help her in the long run? One of these ponies knows that she is a changeling. She is determined to find out who before moving on to stage two...

"Hello there." She told everyone in somewhat of a kind tone as she fixed her bangs slightly then she looked for a seat. Not wanting to be noticed that well, she was prepared to receive attention just in case. Her lion tail swayed as she took note of the mayor of Canterlot. Why was he here? She was a bit surprised, maybe, just maybe, he had something to do with it. She never trusted the little elderly snake, as every pony else. That shall need more information about them and interacting with them. She isn't picky, her interaction is based off of yours. Friendliness brings the same in return, but mistrust will hold dear to her heart. For information and knowledge is such a horrible thing to waste.

"Hello," Cryptical Code calmly greeted as he stared at the wall. Another pony arrived, this one from his mental clock, arrived a bit more late than most of the others. This could mean many things, again, some pointed that this might be the host or somepony that was running into trouble. But one thing that is clear to him is that another pony had arrived, and that possibly means that the meeting may start soon. However, that was only an hypothesis in his mind as of now.

"You have arrived rather late compared to most of us," Cryptical Code added in, his voice is voided of any emotions. Then he looked at the table then the ponies around the room before staring at nothing again. His mind returned back to its planning area, still paying half of an attention to the room.

(Sorry if my previous post wasn't clear on what Double Barrel was doing, he only activated the poison as you where leaving the bar. He wouldn't want you dying in his tavern, you could cause a scene and others might try to help you; he'd rather you die in the street :P)

The guard recruits all seemed to flinch as Radiance's spell washed over them. The mare was clenching her teeth while others had squeezed their eyes shut, the two stallions that had been the most drunk stumbled away from her. (Driving the alcohol that was already in their brain out would give a drunk person the worst hangover ever :P)

"Ma'am? Ah, what are you doing?" The two drunkest stallion were not moving to stay with Radiance and they started to wretch and vomited on either side of the taverns door. The mare could feel burning in her lungs and her muscles seemed to tremble, but she moved closer to Radiance, "what's going on?" Her own stomach twisted and she gagged but didn't puke and struggled along at Radiance's pace.

The two puking stallions had stopped but were still near the door, bracing against and moving along the wall in opposite directions, two of the other recruits went to assist them only to start vomiting by there sides. The final recruit, the pegasus stallion was struggling to stay with Radiance and the mare but was beginning to lag behind. The mare started to slow, hesitantly looking over her shoulder at her comrades.

"This could be interesting.Maybe now we can finally find out who brought all of us here" He thought to himself. Considering the number of ponies in the room, it was only a matter of time before their host showed himself.
