Cherry shrugged, ,"Dancing was something I did a lot as a filly. My mom had her cutiemark in dance and she taught me. Then when I went out on my own, I learned sword fighting, my teacher told me that true swordsmanship required passion and love. I was a passionate dancer, good at the act from a young age, so that's how I started fighting." She blushed, "Plus, when nopony can hit you, you can't loose, and eventually your opponent will get annoyed with you and strike out, that's when you get them." @,

Wonder closed his eyes and chuckled. He popped his wings open and flapped them lightly. "The simplest ways are the best." He continued forward. "At least that's how I plan on getting there."He said with a light shrug. He spoke with a very matter of fact tone.

"Oh, so we're flying?" She fluttered up to meet his height, "but the Empire is so far away, darn it I wish Night Lights my husband was invited to this... Dragon flight power would make things easier!" She snorted realizing she was sounding lazy and turned back to them both, "I can fly there no problem, maybe I can mane a few short teleportation bursts for us too, unless you don't think we should go that fast?"

Golden nodded thoughtfully at the explanation. "You started dancing from a young age? It shows in your fighting style. To me, it's really unique and highly effective. I could barely hit you yet it seemed that I could. Well done Blossom." Golden smiled and bowed again.

Blossom returned the bow, "Thank you Golden Flames, you're an excellent fighter as well. Much more skilled than my usual opponents." She said,than she yawned, "Hmm, I feel I could use some caffeine, tell me, does the castle have a dining area?" She stretched and looked about the courtyard, not even noticing the small crowed the twos fight had gathered, and barely taking note of the whispered conversations between the mares and stallions debating the winner of their fight. @,

Golden nodded. "The castle does have a dining area. I've just got to figure out where it is." Golden said with a smile. She walked up to one of the ponies in tye courtyard and asked for some directions. The stallion told her and she nodded her thanks. "The dining room is this way Cherry. Follow me." Golden called Cherry over and walked to the dining area.

Cherry followed Flame closely, only barely paying attention to where she was walking. She was busy staring at her own reflection in the crystal floor and observing the gorgeous architectural details of the castle. The loveliness of the grand halls could only be brought to life by inspiration, dreams, and magic. It was breathtaking. She could just lie in the hall for days and study her surroundings. But she blinked as she entered the dining hall, which was even more breathtaking. "Wow." she breathed.

Golden smiled and looked at the dining room in wonder as well before snapping out of it. She yawned and went looking for some caffeine. "There should be some java around here ..." Golden muttered. She walked between the two long rows of tables and into the kitchen. Quickly boiling the water with her magic, she then went looking. She found some coffee beans in one of the cupboards and poured some into a couple of cups. "Caffeine. Just as ordered." Golden sighed and gave a cup to Blossom upon returning.

"Thank you love you're fantastic." Blossom took the cup and found an empty table to sit at. Between sips she found herself wanting to get back on the move. Her hoof began to tap on the crystal. She wanted to fight, or write, or read something maybe. Instead she settled for conversation, "So," She said to Golden, "your fighting style seems fairly standard based on what I observed from the royal guards, but you're not afraid to use tricks and fight dirty if needed. May I ask why that is?" She sipped on the coffee some more and stared around at the hall. @,

Golden impatiently walked around the table that Cherry sat herself at. She couldn't sit down long enough to drink the cup of coffee she made for herself so she drank it while walking. "You can ask. Just don't expect any sort of long answer. I don't talk about my fighting style much. Sure I was trained with the other Royal Guards at the academy but everypony thought that I wouldn't be able to be a part of it.

 

"Even the teachers. When I fought with the other members, I started to fight with my magic as well. I liked it and incorporated it into my own fighting style, ensuring whatever fight I had came in either a draw or a win for me. It's just something that I like to do." Golden shrugged and sipped some of her coffee.

Cherry raised her eyebrows and sipped her drink, the other mare seemed rather fidgety, and she wondered why. "A draw or a win huh? So when I beat you earlier it was your first official loss? If so, I am honored to be the first match for such a skilled fighter." She said it respectfully, keeping any hint of gloating out of her voice. Inside she was just a tad disappointed, her sword instructor had taught her never to use tricks or take cheap shots to take a battle. But to each their own, Cherry was not one to enforce her ideals on others.@,

"It's unconventional but helps me with fighting. I've just gotten used to it overtime." Golden's eye twitched when Cherry said that it was her first loss. But she swallowed her pride. "Yeah, it was my first loss after incorporating magic. I actually wonder who the ponies in the courtyard though who won." Golden said thoughtfully and continued pacing around the table. "Don't mind me. I'm always like this after a fight. It helps calm me down from my adrenaline rush for some strange reason.." Golden said. She sipped some more of her coffee and wondered how she would kill Cadence if she ever got the chance.

Cherry gave a small smile, "Better cool down than me. I bottle the days sorrows up and scream about them to my pillow." She was near finished with her coffee and she swished around the liquid in the cup before saying, "If you would ever like traditional training I could introduce you to my Sword Instructor. He's always willing to take on new students, dedicated his immortality to help the young. He is a very wise dragon." She was practically talking to herself now under the guise of speaking to another being. She normally did this with her pets or her pictures. But actually having someone who could talk back was much less crazy. @,

Golden downed the rest of the coffee and set the cup on the table. "Really? You;d introduce me to your sword instructor? Wait. A dragon? That breathes fire? Sounds perfect to me." Golden grinned. She sat down and looked at Cherry. "You okay? You sound kind of not here. "You sound like your head is up in the clouds or something."

Golden downed the rest of the coffee and set the cup on the table. "Really? You;d introduce me to your sword instructor? Wait. A dragon? That breathes fire? Sounds perfect to me." Golden grinned.

 

"Ya," Cherry muttered still looking at her coffee, "I'll introduce you. He's a nice old man. Kind of grumpy, and a bit of a traditionalist. But a brilliant sword fighter. You know he's against the princess to? The dragon race was pretty badly treated in the past. But even though he's against the crown, he gives lessons to both sides, taking joy in helping. He has a horde like any other dragon, but not jewels. He has pictures, notes, and tokens from his students in the past. They're the most valuable things to him." She smiled, guzzling the last of the coffee.

 

 

She sat down and looked at Cherry. "You okay? You sound kind of not here. "You sound like your head is up in the clouds or something."

"Clouds?" Cherry chuckled, "no I'm an earth pony. But um, ya, I'm fine." She put on a smile and snapped herself out of it.

"Earth pony huh? Didn't realise because you've got your armor on but then, I suppose that makes sense.seeming there aren't any holes for the wings." Golden coughed and looked around. "Sorry. anyway, what would you like to see next. Before we head out onto the Crystal Empire for the attack?" Golden asked her.

Cherry shrugged, she honestly didn't know what she wanted to do. Maybe more fighting, or dancing, or writing, maybe drawing? "I donno, what do you want to do?" Cherry looked at her sword, wondering if the stories about it were true. This all was truly a fairy tail. Fillies and colts would sing songs of this place.

Golden stood up and put the empty cups away back in the kitchen. On her way back, she tried to think of what to do. "I actually have no idea. I suppose we can just wait until we have to go to the Crystal Empire." Golden said upon her return. She sat at the table and looked at the opposite wall out of sheer boredom.

Tempest shrugged slightly. "I don't really mind flying, but we have to get there fast." He said. With that, the bat pony flew out of the castle, and towards the crystal empire. "I'm coming for you, Sombra." He thought to himself, as his aura surrounded him. This basically increased his flight speed.

 

Sombra smirked as he watched the fight end, and heard a horn blow in the distance. "It's time to begin the assault" He said to himself, as he noticed his followers preparing to fight.

"Wait for me!" She darted out after Tempest, realizing he was flying at an unusal speed she couldn't hope to keep up with, not without the help of teleporting short distances behind him. "Come on Blissy, show a little effort...this is serious...Must do it...for the Princesses...for Equestria!" She focused and began making short teloprted jumps of 30 feet in mid air every other minute, just keeping Tempest in her sights.

 

"What's the plan when we get there?" She called out to him just as she came out of another teleportion, fluttering her wings like a sparrow trying to keep just behind him.

The attacks caused a huge explosion around sole, but as the smoke cleared he was gone. Suddenly, he appeared behind thunder, injured but alive. "You... Haven't own yet old friend. I need to kill you... And I need to kill all of my friends. If I don't, I can never truly move forward. You all hold me back." He said angrily, before pointing a single talon at cadence and firing a small but extremely powerful beam directly toward her heart. "I'll be back to kill the rest of you later!" He growled, before disappearing in a flash of purple magic

Tempest glanced at Lightning Bliss, and smirked. "I think we should at least see what we're up against." He said. "After that, we should be able to come up with a better plan. The bat pony then saw the crystal empire coming up fast, and sped forwards. Tempest then felt a dark prescence, and dove to the ground. He landed in front of Cadence, and took Sole's attack. His entire body seized up, as the attack went into and was absorbed by his aura. "I really didn't think this through." He thought, as he fell into unconsciousness.

 

Cadence quickly caught Tempest, and eased him onto the ground. She then glanced at Thunder. "Thank you." She whispered.

"TEMPEST!" She whinnied as she witnessed the attack, and spotted to culprit just before he disappeared, "STOP YOU!" She dived at the foe @, hoping by some act her horn could be used like a sword to hit the attacker, only just before she reached for him, he vanished in a explosion of purple magic, her target now being the floor. BAM, her horn became lodged.

 

"Gah ah..." she yanked it out firmly then swirled around looking for other threats, when she calmed, she turned back, running to Cadence, Tempest and Thunder. "Princess Cadence!? Are you... is Tempest...?" She looked at them both, unsure what to do...

Wonder landed nearby the group. He closed his eyes, mired in thought. When he opened them they flashed a brilliant orange, obviously a spark of aura. He looked at Lightning, "Lightning, I know you're probably tired from the trip it took to get here. I'm sorry, but somehow you need to send a message to the Princesses of what's happened here, this is happening faster than we thought." He whipped around and pointed at Thunder. "You! We haven't met yet, but you need to get the guard to a doctor." He then glanced at Cadance. "Your highness, we need to get you somewhere safe. Do you need medical attention?" He asked in a flush of leadership.

Thunder grunted as he disappeared, at thunders hooves the ground was decaying. His current form still taking its toll on the environment. His gray eyes closed, his long black tattered wings shut. His fur began to return to its silky smooth gray color, instead of the black rotten texture. His wings turned normal as well, his hair began to change from white and brittle, to red, blue, and wavy. His eyes opened, and they where now normal, a shade of blue and purple, as usual. "He's weak...and he needs to be stopped" he said not responding to cadance. He looked back to the mare and colt, who were aiding cadance and the now unconscious tempest. "Tempest is fine, give it time and he'll be awake. But we can't stay here, cadance will be fine, but canterlot will not have the same fate if we stand around and do nothing" thunder spoke calmly but promptly as if he knew what was going on even before it happen.
