Cadnece glanced at Thunder, and then turned her attention to Lightning and Wonder. "I should be fine." She said. "As for the bat pony, I don't know." The princess wished she could do something to help, but didn't know what to do. "We have to warn Celestia and Luna about what is going on. Something tells me that the griffin wasn't the only follower of Sombra." 

 

From a safe distance, a twelve tailed wolf watched watched the group. "You can be such a fool sometimes. You know that, right?" He asked.

 

Tempest sighed, as he trotted out of the shadows. He wasn't afraid of the others seeing him, due to him being on the spiritual plane. "What was I supposed to do? Let her die?" He asked. "Besides, I'm sure everything will work out in the end."

 

Xena rolled his eyes, and sighed. "That isn't the point. Your body can only take so much before it gives way. Besides, what if they find out?"

 

The bat pony sighed. "I know. I just hope this works out in the end."

She looked to Wonder, and admired he took great care in assessing the situation. "Right," she said to his recommendations, "If you're ok Princess Cadence?" She nodded to the pink alicorn whom she only met a few times in her era of alicorn, "I'll write a message to the Canterlot Princesses, if its one spell Celestia ever taught me it was to send messages with my horn."

 

She glaced at Thunder then, noticing he was changing his coat and wings from what he was previously, she wanted to go over and lend him a carring hoof, when she felt the dark...cold...omnious feeling of 'death' that was diminishing from him...Her instinct was to back off then and let him be, but not before her large ears flatten back down like a terrified deer. She bounded away from him and ran to find the door to find a quill and scroll office within the castle before stopping to address Tempest.

 

"I hope he'll be...you'll be alright Tempest, for what it's worth, that was an amazing act of heroisim!" She nodded to him then bounded out, leaping into the hallway, her wings catching flight as she fluttered like a humming bird, finding an office not too far away. She levitated out a scroll and quill and began writing hastily.

Princesses Celestia and Luna,

 

As was feared, followers of the Dark King, are here, and had attempted to assasinate Princess Cadence. We are under current investigation of what has happened to the empire and Prince Shining Armor. Princess Twilight Sparkle should be informed immiedatly of the situation and family matter. However the others, Tempest, Wonder, and Thunder, strongly advise that Canterlot place itself in high alert. You are no longer safe there and need to be ready to defend yourselves from attackers, loyalists to...King Sombra...I'll do my best to inform of any updates that I need to take then. In these dark times I pray you both stay safe.

She placed the quill down, and stamped the scroll shot with a wax stamp, of the embed symbol of the Crystal Empire then focused the transporation spell on the scroll to send it directly to Princess Celestia. Her horn glowed, and within seconds the scroll evaporated in a mist of rainbow smoke, and flew out of the nearest open window to its reciever. "I hope it gets there quickly..." She muttered to herself, then flew back to be with the others.

Wonder nodded, he thought for another moment. "OK. Princess...." he then looked back at Lightning. "Princesses... I think that we should get you to a safer location, and to your husband." He said looking back at Cadance. He walked over to Tempest and lifted him onto his back. He muttered to the unconscious bat pony. "I don't like you, and what you did was really stupid, but you may have just changed fate." He wrapped his wings around Tempest to keep him balanced. "I don't think that it's going to end here. There is going to be all out war, and we need to stop it from progressing. I'm not calling the shots, but I see but one option. Cadance, you and your husband should get to Canterlot." He said beginning to walk to the nearest medical area to put down Tempest.

She followed Wonder down as he carried Tempest, not wanted to be stopped by Cadence nor interact with Thunder just yet, both out of fear and uncertainty. Whe he put Tempest down, she sat next to him, wondering what their next course of action they should take.

 

"I know nothing about fighting..." She spoke to either one who was listening, "my need for violence only seems to happen out of instinct or my father's rage. Heh...I call it my father's rage because I believe a part of him resides within me..." She looked at them for a moment then shut her muzzle. Now didn't seem the time to make chit chat.

 

"So...what can I do to help?"

Thunder watched as tempest was taken care of, still lingering off of sole's words. Was he really power hungry again or just possessed. And what happens if stone does get involved with him...he'll probably swipe her aside as he tried to do with him. Thunder gritted his teeth in anger, what has the dark lord done to him.

 

 

He had to calm down, keep a cool head to keep fighting the fight. And make it his last...

Wonder scratched his muzzle with his hoof. He thought about what Lightning had said. He smirked for a moment. "You can just leave the violence to me, it seems to be something I'm good at. A strong voice and rally can win a war just as easily as a sword. You speak to the people and keep your voice heard and the people will fight on." He sighed. "That's why we need Cadance and Shining Armor to a protected place, an army may fall, but if they live, the spirits of the Crystal Empire will stay strong. You speak to the people the way you spoke to me and Tempest in the Canterlot castle, keep a fire in our hearts." He turns around and looks at her waiting for a response.

Cadence sighed as she watched Wonder and Lightning trot away. She then glanced at Thunder. "Thank you for what you did earlier." She said, smiling slightly. "I hope I'll see you again." With that, Cadence started her journey towards Canterlot.

 

Tempest sighed, as he watched Wonder and Lightning take his body. "Should I trust them with my secret?" He thought to himself. The bat pony then shook his head, and flew into his body. He shouldn't be thinking about that right now. Instead, he focused on his healing.

 

(I won't go into detail on Cadence's journey. It would be to awkward to write.)

I've faced some dark forces of King Sombra once...ok granted it was years ago and I had help from friends...And it wasn't the 'real' Sombra, just some dark magic he left behind..."

 

She stood up then and went to look out a nearby window while still being in ear shot of Wonder. "I know I'm no warrior... but I do have some magic in me...that...when the time comes it will react when it's needed. I-" She turned to him then, trying to keep a brave, yet stubborn face, "I could be an asset, use me!"

Wonder frowned at this. "Maybe innocence is better than usefulness. Being a warrior, or a fighter is not glorious. I would so anything to not be what I am now, but I get sucked back into this life." His face turned dark. "I've killed without remorse, and compassion is something that isn't in my vocabulary. I've made choices that have killed 20 innocent people to save 100. Being a warrior is about having nothing to lose. Are you ready to die for this? Are you prepared to kill? You said that you had a husband. Could you chance death of yourself and leave him holding that grief? No one is out there to mourn me, that's why I'm prepared to lose everything FOR everything!!!!!" He was glowing bright orange now I the ground around him was charred black.

Thunder nodded his head to cadance "any time ma'lady." He said before returning to his thoughts. He looked at the nearby window in silence. Just day dreaming. It was good to let your mind go where it wants, it's relaxing. He put a hoof under his chin to support his head as he thought.

She stepped back from him, feeling like flames were coming off him as he expressed his true purpose of this mission and life...A part of her wanted to cower back in fear...tell him that he was right, that she shouldn't be here, and be ready to kill in order to protect what is good in this world...but then her eyes retracted, she glared him down...

 

"I was ascended to this form for a reason.." she snorted at him, no longer afraid, but motivated just as he was, "It may not be right of me to battle, and help in the killing of others to prevent this catastrophy...but prehaps that is why I'm here... To help you, and Thunder anad Tempest too... To remind you why you do what you do...and what we're fighting for...To make decisions for the good of what we're fighting for!"

 

She flew up above him, pulling her goggles over her eyes with more determination in her veins. "I'm ready to do what must be done for the good of our peoples. If that means I have to risk myself to save others, or have to sacrifice those who wish for darkness...then so be it... I'm the Alicorn of Peace...and I will protect it...even if I die trying...My husband..." she sucked back in a tear, "he would understand."

Wonder slowly calmed down and eventually started to laugh. "So be it." He said with a wide grin he flew off for a quick moment into a guards barracks. He zoomed back out holding something shiny. He ends up a few feet in front of her holding it hidden from view. "Well then, you're going to need a little bit more than that pointy thing on your head to defend yourself." He then takes the shortsword out from behind his back and tosses it to her with the hilt up.

She caught the blade by it's handle. It was a perfect size for her small figure, but it still felt heavy in her mouth. She never held a sword in all her pony life...the realization of the fact, lit a fire under her rear. Finally she was going to do something worthy of this land, rather then fly back and forth for boring diplomatic meetings she felt she hardly made a difference in. Now she was really going to serve the ponies of this land, the way a true Princess would. She pulled out the blade from its helt, while wrapping its container belt around her waist. She twisted her rear around, getting used to the extra weight, then examined the sword itself. The sharpness of it, yet its artistic elegance...her eyes almost twinkled at its perfection...but quickly they darted back to a serious tone.

 

"Alright..." She held the blade firmly between her teeth while still able to talk, her voice firm and serious, "give me the basics... What do I need to know first when sword fighting?"

"First and foremost, you have to learn not to get hit. The best way to do this is to learn when to block or when to dodge. If the blade is coming toward your body, you block it, but it it's going to take more time to move your sword than for the opponents weapon to hit you, you dodge." He draws his blade. "If you dodge, keep your opponent within sight. When you block or dodge, your opponent is open to a counter-attack or in swordspony terms, a riposte. We're going to keep this simple so neither of us gets hurt, so when I attack, you return with a punch, as hard and fast as you can, I can take it." He then holds his position for a moment. Suddenly, he swings for her front shoulder in a simple motion.

Luna walked to the cafeteria so she can get something to eat. She knew what she was going to eat at the cafeteria. When she came into the cafeteria there was two ponies there. So she decided to talk to them.

 

"Hello, how are you two, and what are you doing here" Luna asked.

She nodded a tad nervously and nearly froze as he made a swing for her shoulder. In a blink of a second she shut her eyes and flew up, dodging the blade before she realized. Then while her adrillien was up making everything appear slow motion, she followed his instructions and through out her hoof, dived down, and punched him the face, landing just behind as she did. She turned around, her sword still up in her mouth, her legs quivering in fear but not for herself, but for him.

 

"Oh Celestia..." the sword tremmbled in her mouth, "are you ok??? I didn't hit you hard did I?"

Thunder's ears purked and he turned around to see the mare do some astonishing movements, especially since she never fights. Curiosity grabbed his attention, and once the punch was done. Thunder was there, on the side, couple feet from the two. Almost as if he just appeared from thin air. "For someone who doesn't fight, you look like you have years worth of training behind that punch...." He questioned her.

Wonder eyed Thunder cautiously, he didn't trust very easily, especially considering this pony wasn't at the Royal Debrief. He looked back at Lightning quickly though.

"I'm fine. That was a very professional counter, but you need to remember to keep your eyes open and on the opponent, in the time that it took you to turn, I could've sized up a surprise attack." He said with a newfound vigor. There was a bit of dust on his cheek from the strike but no real harm.

She blushed a bit at Thunder's comment, though shyed away some feeling like he was hiding something about his character, but not wanting to be rude. "T-thank you... I guess," she smiled a bit feeling like it really was her father that was helping her to fight, "guess my father's spirit really is within me."

She turned back and nodded at Wonder's critic on her first fighting move, she was shocked she even managed a blow at all, let alone dodge his first attack. "Sorry I shut my eyes... just nervous, I'll..." she snorted then took to the air again, trying to force herself to be brave, "I promise you I'll get better! For Equestria! And for my myself...for all of those who count on me to do my part..." Her lip still quivered under the weight of her sword, showing she was still terrified, but forced herself to be brave. "Ok... I'll try again, this time, no eyes shut!"

Wonder nodded. He said "It's not all skill, it's more about the confidence, and believing that this move is the correct one to make." He got into his battle stance again and leapt forward. He did a small flourish in his strike trying to see if she could predict when the real strike would land. This time when he followed through he aimed for her body.

Thunder watched great interest. He didn't pay much attention to the glare he got from wonder. And didn't think much of lightning being shy. Though, seeing somepony who could fight even though she never really had the experience, was truly a sight to see. Much more studying would have to be done. "I don't want to butt in, but what happens if a foe isn't a weapon fighter, but rather, a warrior with spiritual abilities?" He question wonder, and lightning.

Tempest groaned as he drifted through the darkness of his mind. "This isn't normal." He thought. Before the bat pony could do anything else, pain racked his body.

 

"Do you think they don't know?" A voice asked. "Even if they don't, they'll still figure it out eventually. They'll hate you, fear you, and will stop at nothing to kill you." Multiple visons then filled Tempest's mind, but they all had the general concept. Multiple versions of the Equestrian military/ royal guard hunting down and killing ponies throughout history. Those who fought back used a fighting technique that was all to familiar to Tempest. They were using their aura to fight.

 

"No. NOOOO." He yelled, as he suddenly waking up. The bat pony quickly sat up. His breathing was ragged, and he felt like he was choking.

Her eyes widen like a possum as he leapt to the air, she watched his sword with each second...taking back when her father was teaching her how to play soft ball as a filly.. Remember keep your eye on the ball, he would tell her. She watched as he made a move, she flinched a bit but backed off some realizing it was a false swipe, then in a fear of nerves realized he was aiming for her exposed white stomach, she thrusted her head down, feeling the sword like it were a part of her and blocked his attack. He was strong, more then she could fathom and the swords clinged together as a spark flew off. She fluttered her wings hard to not be pushed back from the blow but held her blade in place, protecting herself...

 

Unoticeably her horn was starting to glow out of instinct, like it were sensing her stress to defend herself.

Wonder was in his battle head, when something brought his attention away from the fight. He took a deep breath and sheathed his sword. "Take a quick break, you've gotten defense down fairly well." He said with a smirk.

He turned his attention to the peanut gallery. Are you talking about you, her, or me? She would need to learn a strong defensive spell. I'm sure that you and I could demonstrate." He suggested with his eyes flashing pale orange. "Sure, practice makes perfect, but it helps to observe what you're practicing. So Mister Observationist? How about we go a round? Sword to sword, and spirit to spirit."

"I'm not much of a swordsman, rather than a close combat fighter. But you can use your sword. Ill stay with my hooves and abilities" he told him calmly. He could feel the negativity that was producing from wonder, he could feel the hate. Maybe thunder could change that feeling towards him. "If you don't mind...."
