Why is she always the person to be evil i remember reading the book where she was Celestia's Former student but could she be so evil and get celestia to accept her being a student maybe she was nice at the times. -_- .

Personally, I see Sunset Shimmer as a poor, broken soul who never had friends, and she had everything taken from her by Celestia because she didn't understand that friendship was the proper way to power. I don't think she is evil, she just never knew that there was another way to achieve power besides driving people apart and ruling them with an iron fist. That's why, at the end of EqG, she was so quick to turn when she saw the power of friendship. She had literally never witnessed that magic before, and so she was being truthful when she said she didn't know there was another way.

Sunset Shimmer is like a broken soul, who would have had different ambitions of knowing a different way of friendship without going down a dark path to achieve power. I really do feel bad for you, so I think that when she was redeemed, she changed.

 I agree with your reasoning behind Sunset Shimmer, I never viewed her as evil either, I simply viewed her as a poor individual who didn't know that friendships were as amazing as they are and she finally learned it when she saw it for herself after her defeat.

I never got the indication that she was anything but a power-hungry selfish bitch, and the comics only further cemented this view. Her last minute change-of-heart was either an pulled out of nowhere. I would say it was the elements of harmony purifying her of her evil like what happened to Nightmare Moon, but she never indicates this, instead she says something that implies she was misunderstood from the start :

"I'm sorry, I..I just didn't know there was another way..."

 

Yeah....really hard to buy when she never gave the impression of being more than a bitch, other than claiming she would never hurt a dog since she's "not a monster". I'm not saying she couldn't have had sympathetic reasons for being who she was, I just think it should've been written better. The way it was presented, it came off as contrived

She wasn't always evil, but was corrupted by her desire for power.
