QuickRose noticed his tail but decided not to say anything. "I'm from canter lot." She said. Finally she couldn't contain her curiosity. "What happened to your tail?" It looked pretty good. Come to think of it wern't bob tails in style this season? Could Sunsets talent be mane cutting?

Sunset thought for a moment "I did this... it was about all the things i have done since i last cut my tail, I do this when I have failed at something or want to forget something and move on to new things" Sunset said looking worried "it is to resemble that I am trying to forget or leave my past, I have been doing this for quite a while, since what happened at Appleossa, my home town, can we just not talk about it?" Sunset said before hiding his head under his mane

QuickRose wondered what he might want to forget but decided it was best not to say anything more on the subject. Sunset had to be grieved by something so the best she could do was be his friend. Sure that sounded corny but she knew it was the right thing to do. After all friendship is magic.

"OH!" Drill Horn butted into the conversation. "I live in Canterlot! I'm not like everyone else there though. It's pretty cool. I see Princess Luna and Celestia pretty often". Drill took a deep breath. "Anyways, sorry for breaking up the conversation, please continue talking". Drill Horn said with a huge grin while opening the door to the cafeteria.

"well in canterlot as Drill Horn said yeah we do get to see the princesses. especially at my house which is as close as you can get to the castle without being there. its funny, my brother has a crush on Celestia. He spys on her. but ya know its the best spot for watching the summer sun celebration!"

Sunset laughed "I have read about the princesses, never got to see them, I spent my entire life traveling, might end up going to Canterlot the next time I am free and have the money, I've always wanted to go to Manehatten though" he entered the cafeteria, looking for where they were sat before, "it seems weird for a pony like me from a farm to be friends with two Canterlot ponies, hay its..."Sunset suddenly stopped and started to think about what he just said .Sunset then found the table and sat down, then eating some hay, waiting for the others to join him

Sunset suddenly seemed really interested in the conversation dropping all food, leaving a pile of hay and an apple that he did not touch throughout the entire lunch, sitting up a bit more "cutie mark stories, I love cutie mark stories"said Sunset hopping he would be able to avoid anything about his cutie mark,  with his eyes locked on Quickrose and Drill Horn

"Well, I guess I'll start it off since I'm the one who brought it up. Drill Horn turned away so that his cutie mark was facing them. "As you can see, my cutie mark is a hammer and drill. It represents my engineer skills like repairing stuff, building things, and I learned a lot about architecture". Drill Horn turned back towards his 2 friends. "So, who's next?"

QuickRose knew she would have to go next.

"Drill don't you think this is a little unfair?" Then whispered in his ear "ehay ashay onay utiecay arkmay" (in case you have no idea what I just said its pig Latin for he has no cutie mark) "but ya know if I have to tell about my cutie mark I should tell how I got it. Interesting story really. Ya see I was at school this one day in foaltergarten when the teacher gave out entry slips for a gardening contest if we wanted to enter. Of corse I didn't but my friend who's talent is talent seeing, pushed me to enter. I grew a rose and it won the contest. And that is how I got this." She showed them her cutie mark. Suddenly she got a great idea "hey sunset maybe you could meet my talent seer friend when you come to canterlot!"

Sunset looked a bit confused "I don't know about that, well..."Sunset stopped to think and then had a smile on his face "okay if you think it's what i should do"Sunset started to examine his apple "well i did have a theory for why I don't have my cutie mark but that's just silly"Sunset was a bit shy again and started to pick up the apple and a bit he had and put them together on the table "well it's not that silly"

"David! That's very mean. You didn't even give him a chance." QuickRose was mad at David but this was how he usually acted around her new friends. He got jealous easily. Most ponys were on his bad side immediately

Sunset looked at David with some anger but then looked back at Quickrose "well I haven't told you but i left my home, Appleossa, when i was very young, i used to live on an apple farm, I always thought I had no talent in farming and just focused on other things, I have been traveling equestria with no purpose most of my life, so I thought that maybe my talent was in farming but i just gave up to quickly, but I can't go back, Appleossa hates me"Sunset said with a sudden look of disappointment "that can't be true, I have to earn my cutie mark at some point, and I am never going back to Appleossa."Sunset looked at his blank flank, feeling a bit worried "I wonder what the teachers will think of me"Sunset seemed even more worried than before

there was suddenly silence at the table until Sunset opened his mouth "so, are you any of you good at magic, I haven't seen much magic, well I have seen quite a bit but I just don't want to remember it, so are any of you?"Sunset asked then putting his apple in the center of the table as a little challenge for one of the unicorns to do something with it

"well" said Quickrose "I can do growth magic" she concentrated hard on the apple then roots sprouted from it and trailed down the table until a full grown tree completely hid the table "oops he he I didn't think it would grow that much" she looked down at her hooves.

(Sorry about the late post)

 

Drill Horn was snoozing while his 2 friends talked. He was really tired and hasn't slept for a long time. Drill Horn knew how to sleep with his eyes open, so his friends probably thought he was awake. But suddenly an apple fell on him and he immediately woke up. He saw Sunset and QuickRose running away so he rush out of his seat and through the door. When he reached them and panted, took a deep breath and said "Sorry, I was sleeping, what did I miss?"

"You sleep like a fish? Um cool? Really you just missed me growing a tree from an apple and then apples falling. Sunset asked us about something fun to do. I would suggest gardening but you guys would be bored." She shyly looked at her hooves sorry that she didn't have a better idea.
