Ok so my older bro currently does NOT like MLP:FiM. He'll bash it all over the place, but through reasoning has finally said he'll watch ONE (1) episode. So i was wondering, which episode do you ponies think he should watch? I'd normally say start at the beginning and watch at least 5 episodes so you get used to all the characters, but i didn't think ep. 1 was the best episode so that may not be a good idea.

I was thinking maybe season 2 episode 1 as he's a large Star Trek fan (he even has his own fan series and does a ton of Star Trek CGI modeling) and that episode has John de Lancie in it (in case anypony doesn't know he voiced Q in Star Trek) and the character roles are very similar. Anyway thoughts on good episodes? If he doesn't like it at least partially he'll probably never watch another episode. That episode's long so he has a higher exposure rate, and he make like Discord's humor more then the other types. His specific episode request was: "The funniest episode", though i'm also trying to think along the lines of what he may enjoy the most, so i'm just gathering opinions.

Season 2 episode 1 is a good choice for two reasons:

  • First, it breaks away from the common girly stereotypes rather well, with good humor and loads of corruption.
  • Once the episode is over, you cannot help but watch the next to see how things turn out ;)

I echo that showing him Return of Harmony pt. 1(and then pt. 2 of course) is a great idea. Also, if he wants to see the funniest episode, show him Bridle Gossip(which is imo). Finally, as a bonus, if you want to show him an episode that showcases what someone wouldn't expect out of the series, show him Putting Your Hoof Down(especially if he wants to see more).

Another decision to be made...

Well, it depends, does he look at a show for its values, for what it can relate to...

If the first one, you should show him an episode that most clearly represents the show!

If the second, well it depends what he likes.

Great adventuring for great treasures!....Except when I'm hurt...
