gaming H1Z1 - a DayZ killer?

So, a new game has hit the streets. It's name is H1Z1, and what is it, you might ask? Oh, it's a zombie survival game. And who's it's first target? DayZ.

With the H1Z1 early-access hitting Steam pretty damn soon, you have to wonder how much of a DayZ killer it's going to be, because no matter what, these two games ARE going up against one another, at some point, whether people like it or not.

I'm getting pretty bored of DayZ, since it doesn't really progress all that much. I'd love to see what H1Z1 has to offer.

I get the feeling that it might just have the same progression that the war z had, only it will work in H1Z1. Open world zombie survival games as a genre are just starting to bore a lot of people, as zombies have been played to death in recent media. And I'm still waiting for my zombie game that has the engine that is capable of loading in an actual hoard (ala world war z) of zombies. Because unless you have special types, most challenge from zombie games comes from the other players, not the environment itself.

Day Z has a bunch of glaring problems, the major one being there isn't really a point to it other than survive, and the eventually gets boring.

If this new game builds upon DayZs faults, then it very well may be.

You truly are the Rosa Parks of not understanding what r34 is.

And just the fact that it should instill FEAR in you! Fear is a really important aspect of any survival game, because otherwise you'd have it turn out, just like Nether did. Just one big free-for-all deathmatch map, with some random creatures thrown in.

That is what DayZ turns into because the zombies are not a challenge. In a zombie survival game, the zombies should be this huge, terrorizing force, that you don't just laugh off. That is the issue with most zombie games now, is that due to how easy the zombies are, the main challenge and conflict comes from other online players. So it becomes Arma II again.

That's how I've always felt about it. I wished the zombies were challenging enough as enemies that people had more motivation to work together against them. If you couldn't HOPE of going into Cherno without at least a couple people with you, that would make DayZ what I wish it was. If the zombies are enough of a danger that shooting a potential ally is a threat to your own safety, that'd be great.

I'd agree with this if it wasn't SOE doing it. Tho I'm not all that intrested in the game.it.has ideas that could work fairly well. Also unlike the horrible company that did war z or now known as infestation soe has done this model for many of their games in recent history. I suspect the game will be fully launched by the endbofthebyear and take 2 or 3 patches for soe to get their act together. Just a common occurrence with that company. Great games terrible launches.
