How powerful is Cadance, exactly?

As said previous times, Princess Cadence is most likely the least powerful of the 4 Alicorn Princesses we know and love today. But I can't exactly rate her power from 1-10, know what I mean? But I'm fairly certain she's the least powerful. But still, an Alicorn is still extremely powerful!

Where does that even come from? Celestia and Luna are both unable to make a shield as powerful as Shining Armor, just a regular unicorn. Sombra isn't an alicorn either and he's considered a powerful threat too.

In terms of strength and power, Celestia > Luna > Twilight > Cadence.

Most people know Celestia is the most powerful alicorn so far. She probably didn't beat Chrysalis because she was not using her full power. If Celestia had used her full power to destroy Chrysalis then she could have caused collateral damage, but that is just an assumption.

I don't know why people are underestimating Luna. She may have been defeated by the Elements of Harmony when in her Nightmare Moon form, but she along with Celestia has the power to manipulate matter and to enter the dreams of other ponies. Cadence can make ponies fall in love, but Luna has more potential to do damage to a pony's mind.

You can think of Twilight sparkle as the embodiment of magic in Equestria at this point. Twilight may eventually surpass Luna and Celestia and can potentially do anything Luna and Celestia can do, but I doubt Cadence will ever come close to the strength of Twilight.

I wouldn't look at which alicorn is the strongest, but what functions each of them perform. I do believe Cadence is powerful in her own way.

No, that's not it. Chrysalis fully understands Celestia's power, this much is clear by her statements and proved when she gets into a beam war with Celestia. What happened was that Chrysalis had just a teeny bit more power from SA's love. It wasn't enough for it to be easy though, and that's what she had wanted

No one underestimates her, it's just that she needed the nightmare to beat Celestia. She wouldn't resort to that unless she was truly desperate to beat Celestia and was unsure she could do it herself.

As for dream walking, it's a worthless ability since the target can just cancel out the dream. And having a nightmare is hardly the end of the world anyway

This is true. I personally actually have Twilight as an equal to Celestia and Luna, mostly based on the statement that Celestia will learn from Twilight

Here's my chart

Twilight=Celestia>(by a small amount) Luna>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Cadence

But can Shining Armor turn regular ponies into Alicorns? Can he raise the Sun or Moon? Nope.

It may have something to do with his cutie mark, it is a shield, you know. However, who's to say Celestia or Luna aren't able to make a similar or even stronger shield? Just because Shining Armor is the one doing it, doesn't mean the Princesses can't, bro. I'm going to make that excuse that the Princesses are too busy doing "Princess Duties", and the shield takes some concentration, from what we've actually seen.

I really don't know what to say about Sombra, we don't know enough about him for me to make an opinion-based statement.

That's a pretty crappy weapon to have when one of your main enemies eats it for lunch

A bad match up does not equate to weakness.  My point is that we don't know the context of her fillynapping.  Without which, we can only make baseless assumptions.

Nope, his shadows were surrounding it, it was pretty clear that he was doing something. If he weren't, why would Cadence not just take a break for a second?

Because he would move in closer the second that the shield dropped.

And love only held off Sombra because it was literally his weakness and unlike Shining Armor, who while being drained kept up a respectable shield for a long time, Cadence was down and out fairly quickly

Nowhere did it say that love was Sombra's kryptonite.  Also, we don't know how long either of them had to keep up their shields.  We just know it has been going on for a few days at least.

Size doesn't matter(HA!). If anything, a shield is stronger when smaller due to being more concentrated. The main point is that Celestia knows Shining Armor and Cadence well, if Cadence could create a shield, Celestia would have asked her to in Canterlot Wedding(it was Chrysalis, but you get the point).

First of all, the mechanics of the shields have not been explained to us.  I could provide my theory as to why Cadence was better suited to make a shield over the Crystal Empire, but it isn't canon.

Fair point on the second part.  That is a bit sketchy.  Traditionally, the bride plans out her wedding, and guarding Canterlot was Shining Armor's job.  Eh...that explanation is flimsy.  I suppose my head canon might be useful for explaining this.

When Cadence cast her shield, she was tapping into the magic veins of the Crystal Empire (as seen when the Crystal Heart was activated).  This was what allowed her to maintain such a large shield for as long as she did.

It isn't canon, but it's the best explanation I could come up with.  And it backs up your line of thinking more than mine, so you deffinately win this round.

Notice how Shining Armor says the only reason he isn't protecting the empire is because his own magic is countered by Sombra, whereas Cadence's repels him due to love and light.

True.  Maybe there is something about Alicorns that make their spells harder to counter.  I don't know.  A lot of the information we get about this stuff is sketchy.

Shinining Armor says his own magic is negated by Sombra and that Cadence is just spreading love and light to keep him away, yeah

My personal opinion on it was that Cadence was serving as a proxy Crystal Heart, spreading love and light, but whatever

Cadence's own magic is said to be special to keep him away, the way it's phrased makes it sound like it's about her love and light

Why not? She's the Element of Magic and is a prodigy

But as powerful as Celestia? I'm pretty sure she's not, or maybe I'm overestimating Celestia's level.

Still, Celestia is able to raise the sun, or

, do you think Twilight is at the same level?

It's mentioned in earlier episodes that a team of unicorns could also move the Sun, it's clear Twilight can at least equal, what, 5 unicorns?

And Celestia got nearly killed in one shot against Chrysalis, not the best thing to bring up

 I mean Twilight would have been defeated instantly in my opinion.

Why? Twilight has shown herself to possess so much magical power, not even all of Ponyville can counter it(Want it Need It). That was when Twilight wasn't specifically trying to hurt anyone either

Mmmh, maybe you're right, I forgot about that :D

(and also because Twilight's level has improved since the first episode, so I don't quite realize her current level)

This is true. Twilight is the type of character who steadily gets stronger as it progresses. Instead of blasting the Ursa to bits, she just levitated it when in Canterlot Wedding, she shows off monstrous offensive power.

And now, she's able to flash paralyze all of her friends with no strain at all

In Castle Mane-ia :D

And maybe we'll learn more about what she can do this Saturday.

Even before that, in Dragon Quest, she tele-comboed RD and Spike.

And yeah, judging by the title, I hope we get to see Twilight do something awesome
