Kurai 304 May 9, 2014 Share May 9, 2014 (edited) Most likely for a bit of variety. Also have you noticed it seems to be on the bigger manlier stallions Edited May 9, 2014 by Kurai 1 http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/kurai-r7957
Frith is Magick 1,471 May 9, 2014 Share May 9, 2014 First of all, is it just me, or does "unshorn fetlocks" sound like an Irish insult? Secondly, it probably adds diversity to the designs and, like Kurai said, is used to mark the larger, tougher workin' stallions. simba86 1,541 May 9, 2014 Share May 9, 2014 in g1 all the males had unshorn fetlocks, that was about the only way to tell them apart from the girls aside from their bandanas It's better to die on your feet than to live on your knees!

I used to be a stranger 7,993 May 10, 2014 Share May 10, 2014 Because there is a variety in reality. Likewise, there are also varieties of horses and ponies that are very furry and fuzzy, rather than having the colored skin-like surface which we see on the show all the time. If you're speaking in regards to the most notable appearance of long-haired fetlocks Big Macintosh, it's because his design is based upon the most famous kind of draft horse, the Cyldesdale: a breed that is noted for possessing fluffy fetlocks and being exceptionally large.
