Hasbro trolling earth ponies?

The most things i meant with them being "useless" is that the only reason they are so strong and so good at growing food is that they can not do anything else.

I think unicorns could farm and pegasi as well.

The only reason that the pegasi and unicorns do not farm is because they can use magic and fly.

In my opinion the earth ponies are not born stronger then anyone else, i think that the earth ponies that farm does it becouse they can not controll weather and fly or magic.

 

That is my theory.

I have further reasons why the earth ponies are just trained strong and not borned stronger.

In magical mystery cure pinkie needs to take the farn (when they switch fates) and she could not even buck a apple tree.

 

Or i am just overthinking with starting this topic in the first place

I just hop in a thread about Earth Ponies and start seeing DBZ posts about Freiza, damn that brings back some childhood memories, but thats aside the point.

Maud, first of all I'm not sure if we have yet seen an Earth Pony that powerful, than there is a shade of mystery around what makes pinkie well, I guess supernaturally oriented, she has a way to predict the future, and she just does some weird things. The Apple Family plays a huge part of the existence of Ponyville itself if we all remember correctly and it would appear to be at the economic smarts of yet another Earth Pony, (Rich & Tiaras family.) Also Mr. and Mrs. Cake as well as the Apple Family seem to have a knack for producing food. Few notable things, (Big Mac pulling a house lol), the Mayor, Cherilee being a teacher, and it also happens that Apple Jacks thing is "Honesty" and the people of ponyville hold her word in high regards. So this would insinuate that Earth Ponies have a certain charisma about them as well.

No race is better than another. It can be really balanced, and for me, it seems that Earth ponies are stronger, more durable, and more clever without wings or horns. Remember how Twilight fell down Applejack's cellar and ended up in a wheelchair? Now I know it's comedy, but compared to Pinkie Pie who routinely breaks through doors..

Still, it's depend on the character's trait itself. Racial status shouldn't define everything about your character.

 

As for combat, while pegasi do have the advantage of flight and unicorns the advantage of magic, it's very possible that not all battle is going to take place in their favor. Say, if the fight was in a building floor, the pegasi won't have much room to fly in. (Also, unicorns probably know basic magic unless they spend an ample amount of time training. ) Maybe if your OC was pragmatic and clever, he or she would try take advantage of the fighting field or the enemy's weakness.

 

Also, unicorns and pegasi are poorer at farming and doing things that involve being "down to the ground", and due to their flight and magic, they might be inclined to rely on it more, while earth ponies will try to be more industrious due to their lack of wings and a horn. In other words, they might be inventing things to help themselves.

That's the problem when you divide up your pony species, and two of them ending up having distinct abilities to themselves and one comes off as the mundane common.  (Actually there's a bit more to this based off of old lore, where I think unicorn and pegasi were in their own categories, but I'm too lazy to look that up, someone else more knowledgeable may do that).

 

Pegasi have their flight and can control the weather, the unicorns can use magic to do just about anything (potentially speaking).

and Earth ponies? well they tend to the land (mostly), nothing wrong with that, just comes off as "not as cool" to others. 

 

Not sure how to interpret the Tirek scenario - though I would say he stole their strength, because that's all they really have anyways.

 

Using Hearth's warming eve as reference. The earth pony tribe was always the supporter/laborer of the three tribes that worked with tending to the land.  Now why the pegasi and unicorns couldn't do that themselves was never explained.  I always took that as laziness on the part of the other two tribes to never farm themselves, that and hegemony harmony.  It's just probably due to earth ponies, having been farmers the longest, have gained the most experience and knowledge out of the profession that they are probably the most efficient out of it, not surprising since farming really would be a family profession passed on from generation to generation etc.  You would get physically stronger after tending to the fields on a farm after a while, a real workout in its own right.  Of course earth ponies can take up other professions, as exemplified in other episodes.  (Octavia for example, being a musician, Pinkie Pie, working part time, I assume at Sugarcube corner and also being ponyville's resident party planner).

 

 

Now why there is a discussion about measuring up the three pony races in their strengths and trying to figure out who would win is beyond me, none of them are fighting with each other. So it's not like we need to measure their strengths for comparison.

I'd complain about the lack of Earth pony OCs. I'm the only person I know that has one.

They are the least appreciated pony race though by far. Earth ponies need more love!
