gaming Gauntlet Reboot Coming This September!

So I have just recently discovered that a brand new Gauntlet game is coming out for Windows and Linux this September. Just thinking about playing Gauntlet Legends and Gauntlet: Dark Legacy with my siblings makes me all giddy and nostalgic. Anyone else have fond memories of the old games, be it in an arcade or on a console?

I remember playing Gauntlet Legends on an arcade machine a couple times. I loved it but we never had enough quarters to play it much. Then the machine disappeared and I never got to play it again.

 

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Dark Legacy just an enhanced port of Legends with everything in Legends and a few new things as well? I have a friend who told me so cuz he had played both.

It's sort of like that, yeah. It's got a lot of the same stages as Legends, but a lot of brand new ones, too, and I believe the storyline is a bit different.

That one must have been even earlier than the one I played, because what I remember was "Blue wizard is about to die!"

 

Was Legends actually the first one, or was there another that came before it?

There was actually two games before Legends. Gauntlet and Gauntlet II.

Man, Gauntlet Dark Legacy was the best back in the day- tons of levels, stupid hard bosses(even with the hidden items that would help you beat them), and a myriad of character classes including some secret ones. Amazing game.

This new one doesn't look as interesting to me though... PC exclusitivity is a bit of a downer for a game series that was made for couch/arcade co-op, and the art style isn't really the greatest. Might keep an eye on it though, just a little bit to see how it ends up being.
